(2.50 stars) The National Soccer Hall of Fame closed in February 2009, although the HOF itself continues to induct new members. When opened, it was an interesting example of how an attraction of this nature could be operated on a small scale. Located well off the beaten path, the HOF was severely hindered by a lack of advertising and promotion. From the time it opened in 1999, until 2006, only a small handful of modern US soccer personalities were inducted. By 2006 sufficient research had been completed to bridge the post-1950 era through many inductions. Being a huge soccer fan, I enjoyed the relics and the chance to «be close to» athletes who I considered to be stellar. I visited twice, and each time had the feeling that The National Soccer Hall of Fame wouldn’t last much longer. RIP
