My wife and I drove up from CT for some golf this past weekend and discovered The Farmhouse at Emmons based on the suggestion of the golf staff at the course we played. The food was amazing and the service even better. Kelly, our server, kept us posted on everything and didn’t hesitate to make things just as we wanted. I could rave about everything but the fried Turkey dish is something we have never tried but something now we will be thinking about until our return to The Farmhouse, which will be sooner rather than later.

Fantastic restaurant, excellent service and friendly ownership. Seafood chowder is spectacular. Entrée portions are enormous and everything tastes fresh, from scratch and not frozen. Carrot cake was moist and was melt in your mouth perfection.

I absolutely love this restaurant! I wish the Bull’s Head in Cobleskill(and a couple others) could pay this place a visit to see how it’s done. It’s gorgeous inside, but the food is the star! Our server, Shannon, was top notch. Knew the specials, friendly, a true pleasure. The owner seemed like a bit of a task master, but the place runs well even packed, so job well done(just remember to thank your staff and say please as patrons hear you and they earned it). The food was delicious. The French onion soup was THE best I’ve had out and even rivals my own(I use a true French recipe, which takes hours)! Perfect onions, amazing broth … scrumptious cheese. My date had the prime rib and said it was incredible. We also tried the spinach artichoke dip. Creamy and lovely. Perhaps some more garlic in the recipe(I couldn’t taste any), but again, best I’ve had out! Drinks were spot on. I had a Smirnoff mango lemonade that was made from real lemonade. It was so smooth and delicious. Would have been perfect with a few crushed lemon wedges, but not complaining. Prices were better than terrible food you get around Cobleskill at supposed nice restaurants and this restaurant doesn’t cut corners on fresh OR preparation. Don’t forget dessert! It’s all homemade and I can vouch for the carrot cake! Only thing I’d love to see is the sign come down out front with the awning. Truly takes away from the beauty of the architecture and looks a smidge tacky. Inside it’s truly beautiful though. Lots of pictures to follow. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had from start to finish!

The Farm House has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and the service and food both deserve high marks. I put this in the higher price range, so I only come on rare occasions. If you have an anniversary to celebrate our something like that this is a great choice. I like the warm fire in the cooler months especially. They have mainly a surf and turf style menu with awesome prime rib, and lots of daily specials to keep it interesting. The restaurant is great for groups and you can get your own dedicated room for a more private dinner. The upshot is I highly recommend this excellent restaurant. Enjoy!

After our morning spent in Cooperstown, exploring the Baseball Hall of Fame, Dad and I were ready for lunch before hopping back onto the New York State Thruway and heading out to western NY for the rest of our vacation. We checked my trusty Unilocal app, and found great reviews for a nearby farmhouse. Since the restaurant was straight south from Cooperstown, and then slightly west on the Thruway, we decided to give it a try. The Farmhouse at Emmons is a casual, upscale eatery located inside of a converted 1800’s farmhouse, right off exit 16 of the Thruway in Oneonta, NY. The Farmhouse has five dining rooms of all different sizes and décor — perfect for small to medium-sized family gatherings, business meetings or private parties. In addition, their location makes them a handy stopping place for interstate travelers and bus tours. The architectural details, and farmhouse antiques give this place a one-of-a-kind charm. You walk into the restaurant right through the front door of the main house, and there’s a hostess stand with the ‘Specials’ board nearby. Dad and I spotted the fresh lobster roll on the daily specials, and knew that we’d made a great choice for our lunch spot. The Farmhouse luncheon fare is diverse and very reasonably priced. You can select from a bunch of shared plates like crab cakes, PEI mussels, monkfish nips, clams casino, and homemade soups. They have salads, burgers, deli sammies, paninis presses, and some great daily entrée specials. The dinner menu features an extensive small plate and appetizer menu; main entrées include fresh seafood, steaks, poultry, pasta, and healthy choices. The Farmhouse has a great wine list and selection of craft beers, as well as an entire menu of house-made desserts. I started with a crock of their homemade French Onion soup which was spectacular, and followed that with the warm Maine lobster roll served on split-top bread with drawn butter, French fries, a pickle spear, and a watermelon wedge. Very delicious, and surprisingly well-priced for such great food. After our meal, we hopped in the car and continued our voyage west. Wow, what a spectacular hidden gem that I would not have found without the help from Unilocal

Worst service I’ve had in a long time, possibly ever. I could sympathize with a harried server and slow service if it was busy, but we were one of three occupied tables at the time. Whether it was asking what kind of cheese was on the cheese plate or asking him to split the check between me and my two colleagues, he made it clear that we were inconveniencing him. We got the point, and won’t be bothering him again. Food was not bad, and the outdoor seating was nice, but considering the service we received, in the future I’ll be taking my business to one of Oneonta’s other fine establishments that know how to treat customers with some courtesy.

So glad our son is back at college in Oneonta so we could visit The Farmhouse for another most enjoyable dining experience. We began our evening with their cheese platter appetizer selection which is always fresh and presented very professionally. On this visit, I opted for their prime ribs farmhouse cut which was simply outstanding, with minimal to no fat, a quality I look for while dining out. Always enjoy the carrots, beans and beat dish which accompines the main course. A piece of carrot cake rounded out the dinner. Can’t wait to visit our son again so we can dine at this fantastic restaurant!

It worked out to have dinner here toward the end of a long road trip, and the location right off Rt 88 was a big plus. The service was friendly, if a bit harried, and the food was tasty, well-prepared and nicely presented. The prices were moderate and the portion sizes were fine. There was even free wi-fi(yay!). It was solid and unpretentious. The only quibble I had was that the recitation of daily specials and the illustrated dessert menus both lacked price information. Not a huge deal, and I doubt they were gouging on those items, but I still feel odd ordering food without knowing the price, and awkward if I have to ask about it. I would definitely recommend it and hope I get a chance to eat there again. Always happy to see someone open an original place and live their dream. Beats corporate chain restaurants and palaces of conspicuous consumption any day.

Emmons house was a place we found on Unilocal while traveling rt 88. It had really great reviews so we stopped for lunch. It appeared busy for a Monday but it’s high season in the area and competition was closed. Seated promptly in this old somewhat run down but quaint place. Host seemed to be owner. Server arrived at our table and announced specials. She was knowledgable but never smiled. Hubby ordered the vegetable beef barley soup and he enjoyed that. Then… we waited for our lunches… forever …and the server disappeared. We only ordered the special… two paninis and a cheeseburger. When they finally came, they were fine but the server disappeared again. Used the rest room upon departure and found it to be Dirty and not well kept. Not sure I would return if in the area again.

On a trip to the Catskills, we arrived at The Farmhouse right as the open sign went up. We were greeted by the sweetest people, very friendly wait staff as well! Water was crisp, fried calamari was on point, and the main courses were phenomenal! I wish I lived closer to The Farmhouse because I would definately come back. Coming from southern Westchester county NY, this place felt super cozy like someone’s house. My dad has been there many times and says the Chicken Parm is out of this world! I got the duck special and OMG I wish I could have that dish every night of my life! The duck was soooo tender and flavorful and it was paired with the most delicious sauce, potatoes, and fresh vegetables of the day. I did not leave one scrap on my plate. If I am ever on vacation again in the Catskills I will make sure I stop and eat here again.

Generally had decent food but the experience was ruined by being waited on by an obviously drunk waiter. Pretty impressive since the restaurant had only been open for about 5 minutes when we got there(a little after 4pm). He rambled for about ten minutes while we were trying to eat our dinner, made random slurred comments throughout, reeked of booze and refused to bring us our check when we asked for it when we got our meals and wanted to leave asap. Awkward way to eat dinner. Yikes… Not planning on going back.

You walk into what seems like someone’s front door and it’s a house from the 1850’s turned into a cute comfy restaurant. Service was outstanding, food was delicious. Saturday nights they have prime rib that was really GOOD! Very quaint.

Be ready for some food. The split pea soup is a great special app. The artichoke dip is delightfully cheesy. The top sirloin steak is a feast. The turkey grand hotel is a twist of tradition. Scallops over angel hair is great.

Really good food! The farmhouse is just that… it looks and feels like someone’s home on a farm. But this rustic quaint establishment does bring some big flavors to the plate. Their Mac & cheese is amazing and their pecan pie is true pecan pie! You can tell these are some hometown recipes that are cooked with love.
