Center Ice Skating Arena

This review is about the adult hockey league. I have been playing in the silver A division for three seasons now and the scheduling and referee professionalism has steadily
declined. Needless to say that we are still playing games from the summer season. With poor scheduling and game cancellations with little to no notice prior to the event there is no desire to pay the overprice season rate of $ 375. We have gone a month without playing a single game. It is almost criminal that after the rinks management has received the $ 4000 team fee they tell you that you can play when they get around to schedule you. I know the opinion on referees anywhere can vary but a few of them that are employed by center ice are unprofessional to say the least. Ice hockey games often get out of control because of the unprofessional referees. Trash talking should be left to the opposing teams not the referees. If you are looking for an adult hockey league to join steer clear of this one. It is an understatement to say that Center Ice Ontario adult hockey league is a waste of your time and money.

Went on a Monday afternoon for public skating session. It was decently busy: mostly kids at the time we went. We got 4 hours of skating for $ 10 each which I thought was fair. The ice seemed well maintained and the ice skates were not too bad for rentals. They have a viewing area and some vending machines for drinks and snacks.

Great place to just hang out and cool off in this 100* weather! Nice, clean place. Staff are very friendly, courteous and professional. Every size of ice skates are available. Love this place!

i loooooveee ice skating & i’m so glad i found this place on Unilocal!i went on a very hot day in the month of May & right when we walked In the coolness of the ice just made me feel like i was transported to the holidays & the wintertime when i usually go ice skating. instantly, i forgot about how horrid the weather was outside.
$ 10 admission includes the skate rental which i don’t think is that bad at all. skates are not all worn out and jenky, so that is also a plus! the only downside is i should have called ahead of time because i didn’t know that certain day we went there was only a specific time block for public skating. i think there was a hockey team practicing that night. so because i didn’t know that, we only skated for about 45 mins until we had to leave. so my advice to everyone is to call ahead so you don’t get stuck driving out here & can only skate for 10 mins!
the rink is VERY spacious & luckily we went on a night when it wasn’t too crowded. i was afraid it was going to be since it was a Friday evening. i also loved the music they played overhead which made the whole experience even better.
would definitely return!

Went here with my very best friend for his first time ice skating. The public sessions are very cramped, so be wary. Overall, the ice is in good condition and the pricing is average.

This place has a great, well-​lit, clean facility, well maintained. I went on a Sat afternoon, around 2:30pm. It was extremely crowded with 4 birthday parties going on, a bunch of high school kids, and the ice was very rough. The facility is nice, but the quality of the customers is not. Some high school kids were skating one holding another in a line, 5 together, when the sign said the maximum is 3. There were a group of one older man and several younger men playing tag (which I don’t think is allowed). They were weaving among the crowd in super high speed, almost hitting some little kids. That scared the hell out of me! I don’t think this is allowed but none of the staff said anything, even though there were instructors teaching skating but no one said anything. This chasing scene had gone on for at least 10 minutes. These men on hockey skates dashed from one end to another, making abrupt turns, going in different and reverse directions and making stops like you would slam on a brake. I couldn’t stand it anymore so I decided to leave. I wanted to tell the front desk, but when I got off the ice, the older man, who seems to be the leader of the group, has gotten off the ice as well, so I couldn’t show the front staff an example of their dashing and weaving. I understand skating rinks can be crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but the management should impose more regulations on the wild customers, so that other customers can enjoy the rink as well. We all pay the same price to go in don’t we? Why should i feel so intimidated by these inconsiderate skaters and why no one told them to take it easy? I don’t know if I’ll be back anytime soon, but definitely not on a Saturday, or I’d better check at the entrance that if these same men are there (I heard that they are regulars), then I should turn around and go home instead :(

This was our first time Ice Skating since we’ve moved to Riverside. I treated my family of 4 adults and 1 child to a night of ice skating. After paying, we all went to the counter to get our rental skates to only find out they were all out of our shoe sizes!
The only options left were the ice hockey skates in two sizes larger for us.
The gentleman handing out the rental skates should have notified the cashier that the popular sizes were completely out. Then the cashier should have told us that they were out of the popular sizes before having me pay. I would have understood the circumstances and come back another night and arrive a lot earlier.
Instead we were told to use the skates sizes available and come back later in the evening to see if our sizes were available. They were. .. shortly before public skating ended.
Unfortunately, we will not be going back.

I went for the 6:15pm Friday night Public Skate session and arrived about 6:25pm. First, parking was completely full. The streets for about 75 yards all around were full (this is an industrial area and all the other businesses were closed, so these were all people going to Center Ice.) I lucked out and found someone leaving the parking lot, so I managed by luck to get a space. $ 8 to get in (I had my own skates). Staff was nice. Customers were friendly (except a lot the experienced skaters enjoyed hanging out at the entrance /​exit door of the ice.)
I got on the ice at 6:35 and it was already trashed (there is no way they resurfaced the ice before this session.) There were about three private trainers on the ice and ZERO staff on the ice. As a result, you have kids going EVERYWHERE. The small ones liked to go the opposite direction with no concern for others. I’m an OK skater and was just there for an after-​work workout. I understand ice skating can be somewhat of a real-​life video game (dodging the other skaters) but this was the worst I had ever seen. It didn’t really bother me personally, but made it difficult for the new skaters.
Now the music. OMG! 40% were slow songs (like All Of Me, etc.). The audio was barely loud enough to get over the sound of the people talking. The sound quality was that of the stereo in a Honda Civic. I don’t think there was a DJ (or if there was, he /​she should be fired). It was like «let’s play this song» then song ends, dead air, then, «oops, um, let’s try this song». A playlist on an iPhone would have been a huge improvement.
Then the music just stops five minutes before the end of the session (about ¹⁄₃ through a good upbeat song) and just nothing for five minutes. Then they announce the end of the session, crank up the volume, put some really upbeat music on, and the hockey players come out. Kind of like «hey public, get the heck out, it’s time for the people that really bring money into this place.»
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME AT AN ICE RINK — here is a hint, BRING WARM CLOTHES. There was this one 18ish year old that was FREEZING. Ice rinks are COLD! Otherwise the ice melts and it changes from a rink to a pool. To add to the cold, the new people don’t move much, so it’s hard to stay warm. I can get away with pants and a sweater, but if I were new, I would suggest pants, sweater, jacket, and a knit cap (most of your heat will go out your head.)
Summary: Would I go back, sure. It was worth $ 8 just to be with some really happy people (the customers). The time slot (6:15pm to 8:15pm) was perfect for a Friday night. I always like seeing new ice skaters coming out to skate. And there were a lot of new ice skaters last night. Enjoy!

Took the kids skating today! They had a great time! Definitely coming here again. The customer service was really good the guy in the front with short black hair and the missing tooth was really cool and nice! If you are bored and want to ice skate this is the place to come to.

10 dollars for each person (that includes the skate rentals) and you can skate till they close.
Went on Sunday around 4 pm. There was a good amount of people. They had everyone clear off the ice at 5 for the Zamboni. Took 15 minutes. Ice was much easier to skate on after that.
Overall nice and well maintained.

It’s cheap and was fun– $ 10! Nice looking center! Few bad things. The younger looking blonde guy, and blue/​purpled haired girl that work the front are extremely rude. Walked in at 4:40 today, and the girl looked at the guy with this pissy look on her face and didn’t even say hello. I told her we would like to skate, and she let out a huge sigh. My boyfriend asked her if there was a problem with this, and she said,“well no but you only have about an hour an half left to skate.” As if that’s not long enough!!! I get it, it’s Christmas Eve. BUT your open and working– might as well make the best out of it and not be such a B****. I’m sorry doing your JOB is an inconvince to you. We told them Merry Christmas on our way out, and no response from either of them. I will be calling the manager to let them know about their shitty customer service, and they should hire a better receptionist!

I am an ice skating virgin… therefore, I do not have any other experiences to compare to this one.
We stopped by during public skate and it sure as hell didn’t look public to me. There wasn’t a lot of ppl at all… but the only skaters on the ice were like up and coming Olympic skaters practicing. Then there I was… stepping on the ice for the first time in my life and holding on to the side of the rink for dear life while I slowly skated my two rounds. I walked away from this public skate sorta feeling embarrassed and freezing cold.
Overall, its a pretty clean facility and even though I was a complete newbie, the experienced skaters on the ice were really nice! $ 10 including skate rentals during Public Skate and they even sell $ 3 mittens!

it had been almost twenty years since i skated (and while it was daunting at first) i admit my interest is piqued. i hope to go more often.
the class schedule seems varied enough with several classes offered at different times of days … so i may sign my little one up so she learns how to «be like Elsa!» lol :)
great place to spend the day!

Best facility I’ve seen thus far of the few I have been at (Aliso Viejo, Yorba Linda, Anaheim, Westminster, Lakewood, KHS). Clean, well maintained, adequate seating and snack bar. What keeps the 5^th Star away are there being only one sheet of ice, small pro shop, and a small parking lot. Still, I’m quite impressed.

Great local rink… Friendly, affordable, and fun. I play here for pick up and stick time. Haven’t tried a league yet. Pick up and stick time draws a good crowd, up tempo friendly games

Lots of figure skaters and beginner first time skaters during the public free sessions piece is 8.00 and 2.00 if you need to rent. They plan music and have a small snack bar and vending machines, skip those and try the burger place in the parking lot not too bad.
They should open up the pro shop, I’ve never seen it open. I would probably buy some gear but it’s always closed.

Although this place may be good for open skate, I would never throw a private party or event here. The rules they set forth are ridiculous (down to the toppings on pizza allowed). They walked up to the birthday we were at and scolded us saying that birthday party characters weren’t allowed, even though that wasn’t stated anywhere and that we needed to have our «frozen» characters stay inside our party room. When my friends booked the party, they were gold one thing about food rules. Yet when they came in to pay the deposit, they were told another. It’s ridiculous! They’re an ice skating ring, not a upscale Beverly Hills party establishment. We won’t be returning, nor will any if the 20+ guests at the party.

Kinda forgot about this place for a while, but a buddy of mine reminded me so I’ve been back to going.
Home is where the heart is and my heart is at the hockey rink. Whether it’s professional, semi-​professional, or local rec leagues, I love the game. I haven’t played in some years, but skating here makes me want to get right back into it.
I really wish that Ducks clock was gone, what an eyesore. Go Kings!

This was a typical ice rink. They have a lot of parking available, a feature that I found most appealing about this particular ice skating venue. I also liked the fact that it wasn’t too cold inside. The temperature was fairly tolerable. Restrooms were abundant and spacious. They also have an upper level seating zone.
Some of the staff proved to be a little rude and incompetent at the Adult Sectionals competition. Perhaps they had become jaded by all of the activity that the event ushered in. Who knows.

I want to give this location a four star, however, it lacks a «true» hockey store insdie and the way ownership deals with adult hockey is sad. I get the rink has grown, but its being mishandled right now. They leave the league director with little options and fewer ice slot options. If they can fix this, I’m happy to review again and bump it.
Now I have been playing adult league at the rink for about 7 years now and it has through some solid improves (water to ice pun), not great though. More than anything they need melt down the ice and redo the lines for the hockey program. It hasn’t been redone it years and it is faded and shows. However, I will say with new ownership they do take better care of the ice.
The facilities got an upgrade and the whole place got a paint job inside to clean it up. They put down some new matting on the floor and cleaned up the snack shop. Its clean looking and basically ice with locker rooms, which for the most part is all you can ask for. I know they have a weight room for their junior team upstairs and a few other frills for them. I like it here, just would like to see those few other items above be addressed.

I visited this ice skating rink and it was my first time ice skating in over a decade. The parking lot was empty and the exterior looked a little rundown. It definitely did not look like an ice skating rink from the outside. I was almost hesitant to go inside.
But I did anyway. The price was $ 10 for skating plus skate rental, which I think is pretty cheap. If the rental shoes are too uncomfortable, you can exchange them for hockey skates, which members of my party said were more comfortable.
The staff should probably run the zamboni more often. After awhile, the ridges in the ice make it really difficult to skate. Also, TIP — bring mittens. My hands felt like blocks of ice after a few minutes of skating.
The music they play is mostly top 40 and I think makes good background music for skating!
P. S. There’s a cute café where you can get hot chocolate after skating.
