This campground is packed tight! After reading all the reviews, and discussing the details with the management, we felt very comfortable with our decision to camp here site unseen. We were told that the campsite could easily accommodate 2 tents and was relatively private and not surrounded by other campers. Not true. The site was smaller than any site I had ever encountered and we were completely surrounded by several, maybe 6 – 7 other sites. So close that we could here everyone’s conversations and snoring. Also, there was no way to set-up the 2 tents that we needed. The other sites in the campground were not any better. Very disappointed. So much so that we asked for a refund and to instead reserve one of their more remote wilderness sites 7.5 miles away up a long dirt road. This ended up working out much better for us, although there were still a few other campsites nearby. Despite being disappointed with the tiny crowded conditions of the campground, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. It is obvious that the campground had been renovated with a nice new bathhouse and pavilion, among other improvements. The«beach» was very little… maybe 25’X10’ for the whole campground. The lake itself was breathtaking. If tiny campsites are your thing, then this place is great. I would recommend the wilderness sites and deal with the dirt road for a bit more privacy.

What a great place! Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful sites with the lake right there. Definately one of the nicest campgrounds we have been to. The only improvement I can think of is night time kids activities– games, dances, movies etc…

We rented a RUSTIC campground and it was a great experience. Wilderness site #1 is about 3 miles down a gravel road off the beaten path. It’s hidden, quiet and free of cell phone. The outhouse is relatively new and, other than the porcupines eating at it, nice for an outhouse. There is no running water except the river about 0.1 miles from the site. While we did not see any moose at our site, we know they live there based on the myriad of footprints by several moose including a calf. Coyotes(or perhaps wolves) howl at night in the distance, the loons fly overhead and it’s just you and nature. There is no cell phone service out there. If you are looking for a super quiet place in the middle of no where than this is it. A 10 minute drive gets you back into civilization.
