Super Supplements

Very unimpressed. I own a local gym.
A program we run (60 day challenge) requires a good list of supplements. This store was disinterested in establishing a relationship (offering a discount to 60 day participants)
The manager was cocky and dismissive and she was not a picture of health with an attitude to match.
Avoid if you’re new or a vitamin Vet.

I never received my order, I emailed the company many times, to no avail, but I DID receive multiple emails regarding rating this fine establishment. Stay away, worst customer service, rather lack of. No confirmation. No response. But they do want positive feedback via bizrate. Interesting.

Not a terrible selection of supplements, but they are pretty pricey. When someone finally asked if I need help I asked him where a product was and he showed me and asked me what it was for and how you use it etc. I asked him a question which he was clueless on. I ended up educating him instead of him helping me. I’ll stick to the co-​op, vitacost or Whole Paycheck

Not a local company as they like to advertise. They are owned by Vitamin Shoppe which is based out of New Jersey.

This place was like a GNC wannabe, but even worse. I was looking for a not so easy to find supplement and wasn’t familiar with the store. When I arrived on a weekday afternoon, there were maybe two other customers there. No one greeted me and after a couple of minutes, two employees stood in an aisle near me chatting, but never asked me if I needed any help. I did find the supplement but they only had one brand and it was very overpriced. I walked out and went to the downtown Whole Foods where I was not only offered help but they had a brand that was about one third the price of the one at Super Supplements. Never again, this place blows.

Good selection, and customer service was attentive (although I can’t comment on effectiveness since I already knew what I wanted).
It was pointed out by another reviewer but probably bears repeating that if you’re lured in by the prices on the website like I was, and don’t see the fine print («Online pricing may vary from store pricing») like I didn’t, you’re in for a disappointment. I was graciously given a one-​time reprieve but all my info was taken and it was made clear it’s not done normally.
I suppose it’s the price you pay for convenience, but next time I’m running low, I’ll probably just order online from whoever’s cheapest.

I first discovered Super Supplements on my Seattle business trips and always wished we had one here in Portland. And finally… we do! These stores are fantastic and have everything from vitamins, herbal tinctures, protein powders and even natural makeup at seriously good prices; and the downtown Portland store is no different. I’ve seen the same exact products at the Whole Foods next door for at least 25% more. Pretty much every time I’ve been they have free samples or a brand demoing some kind of natural/​organic product.
While they do have a website (what store these days doesn’t??) that sometimes has better prices than in the store, there truly is no comparison to the customer service and knowledge that the employees offer. I’ve spent hours online researching some ailment I have, trying to figure out what supplement will best help me, only to walk into the store and have a friendly staff member instantly directly me to that particular section.
A couple months back I was experiencing some heart palpitations, got really worried, and spent hundreds of dollars at the doctors getting heart scans and various tests to no avail. I decided to visit Super Supplements and was greeted by the assistant manager, Tyson, who pointed out the magnesium products after hearing my issues. Long story short, my palpitations went away 3 days later all because of a little bottle of magnesium and his helpful demeanor.

I gave it 2 stars because all of the staff, except Tyron the assistant manager, are super friendly and helpful. I purchase 3 different products from the store. Later that evening I was poking around online and notice they have a website and everything I purchased was cheaper online. I ended up paying $ 15 more to buy the product in store. I went back the next day to see if I could get an adjustment, that’s when I met Tyron. He told the site says the prices online may vary & I should have checked the site first. He said it was not his fault that I did not know they had a website. I would strongly suggest going somewhere else or ordering the product online to save money.

Large selection of just about everything body, mind and soul related. Some common things are an okay price and some things have a tremendous markup. Five pounds of protein you can buy online for $ 40 to $ 50 on a regular basis and $ 30 on a good deal. Here they charge you $ 80 for the same product. It’s sort of like a 7 – 11 versus Safeway comparison. You’re paying for convenience. If you can afford it then go for it!

Customer service has improved tremendously over the past 6 months.
Note to Diane E.: Criticism is one of the functions of Unilocal.And managers DO read Unilocal reviews. Therefore, Unilocal is an important venue for addressing problems and improving a business. And just because we criticize in our reviews, doesn’t mean we aren’t also speaking with the management. If people only gave 5-​star reviews on Unilocal,the rating system would be useless.

Apparently, I unwittingly committed a BWB violation code 1955: Browsing While Black. Douchebag #1 and #2 followed me around their precious store under the guise of being ‘helpful’, all while practically interrogating me. «Do you live in this area?» «Do you go to school around here?» Seriously?! Listen: #1 I told you I was BROWSING. That means go away. #2 Yes, I know how to read, and yes, I have been to a supplement store before. #3 If I need help, I’ll let you know. If you are so worried about thieves, then get cameras and let the cops handle it when it does happen. There really isn’t anything here you can’t get at Whole Foods or Vitamin Shoppe, and I’ve never been treated this way outside of Korean-​owned shops in east coast ghettos. Douchebags.
