Oster fetters were delicious. I got crab cake and Oyster combo. Wife got shrimp and oyster. Both were excellent. Staff was friendly. Not much of a wait at around 5pm in friday. Food was out in under 10 minutes.

As far as a bar goes we were not impressed. The band was not good — and I use the term«band» loosely. The service was under par. Unless you are local, the staff will not recognize you. It’s good for a drink to escape your family but that is all.

Live music and decent food. The new bartender, Jared, was very personable, handsome and delightful to talk with. I will definitely be back.

Made the 2nd visit specifically for the chips. Love their dipping sauce. The buffalo shrimp was great, the fried oysters were good. We didn’t care for the oyster fritters. The staff is very friendly. We will be back for the 3rd time.

Decent and I don’t see how this place gets so much hype. We got all sorts of po boys that were fair and oysters that were fine. We did enjoy the drinks! They weren’t skimpy with the alcohol. The alcohol tempted me to give this place 3 stars… But… The service was a little less than okay. We arranged our seating on our own, then we were asked to move even further away from the kitchen. So, the six adults and three babies all shuffled our tables ourselves. It was just a weird vibe that wasn’t very welcoming.

Oysters were ok. Shrimp was mediocre. But the service was terrible. Felt like they wanted me to to apologize for asking them for food and beverages. Pick another place. They only get one star bc I’ve yet to develop food poisoning

If this is what passes here for a quality seafood dive, then I weep for all of Coastal Alabama. Shrimp and oysters were mediocre at best, and the service came with a heavy dose of attitude. There are better choices along the beach, people!

Typical dive bar. Service not so good. Drinks are over poured, STRONG! They have live music. But place is small. Only place open late during the week though. Got the shrimp and oyster po’boy to eat. Good sandwich done well. But not $ 16 dollars well, and didn’t come with anything else. I normally like a good dive bar.

As a tourist, looking for a chill place to go, this was the best venue we visited in three days. The best service, food, and drinks of our vacation.

So locals all know that Pirate’s Cove has the best bushwhacker… WRONG! This place has by far the absolute best bushwhacker(for all you tourists it’s the best alcoholic chocolate shake concoction with a 151 floater). Plus they make theirs from scratch! The food is good. I say the shrimp platter was good but not the best I’ve ever had. My husband got the sausage po boy which was awesome. But by far my favorite was the jambalaya! It was the special of the day so it might not always be available but it really was the best part of the meal; second to the bushwhacker of course!

Food was decent. Nothing special. Portions were small. My 6inch shrimp Poboy had 7 shrimp(I did appreciate they were deveined). My children all left hungry and begging me to buy them a meal on the drive home. Including my small eater who is 6! For $ 60 for lunch we could have done better.

Good food and drinks. Pricey but didn’t have the wait as most restaurants on the beach which was surprising for a Friday night, but no complaints here because we were hungry and not interested in long wait times. The menu is limited, but what they put out is great. Great po’boys and delicious fresh seafood.

Warning. Warning. Meh. Average food. Do not recommend, unless out of convenience. Take the time to drive somewhere with better quality.

The only thing I really have to say about this restaurant is that if you DON’T like seafood– stay far far away. They’re more of a bar– so they’re menu has limited options because they only specialize in a few things. All of those things are seafood. My boyfriend and I split a shrimp po boy and it was quite delicious. The shrimp cocktail had a sweet flavor with a kick– it was really good. Some cons– we sat on the patio and it seemed as if ALL the tables hadn’t been wiped down. They were sticky with food and drink of previous customers. My mom wiped our table down herself. Our waitress could have been referred to as «Ms.Hospitality” — she didn’t seem as if she enjoyed her job. Overall, it’s not a bad place to go. Just make sure you like seafood as you don’t have very many options that aren’t.

Oysters cold and salty. Simply perfect Buffalo shrimp poboy and blackened shrimp salad. Excellent. Service slightly off but it was a late rush and a one man show. Only advice. Don’t do steam oysters. Stick with raw.

Have a real tough time understanding the 5 star reviews, as well the 1 star reviews. Everything we got was just ‘ok’. The service was just ok, steamed shrimp and crab legs were good, house made chips were very good, oysters weren’t good(didn’t taste quite fresh). I don’t know, nothing about this place overwhelmed us. ITSJUSTOK!

Out standing seafood! And we are professional fresh seafood eaters. My sisters and I are celebrating a birthday. Beautiful beach day. A hidden treasure. My sister is enjoying herself so much, someone said for her to get a room.

If I was reviewing based on the food that we ordered I would give it 5 stars. Even tho food came out hot, service was terrible and we were made to feel we were a bother. Everything we needed, we had to get up and ask for. Attitude of annoyance to a generally very easily pleased crowd.

The closest restaurant to our rented vacation house near Gulf Shores, Alabama was The Flying Harpoon 2. One day during our stay my family and I stopped here for lunch after a bike ride. We arrived right at their 11 A.M. opening time. In fact, a friendly employee had to unlock the front door to let us in. He took the time to show us around the space and even took us out back to see the alligator and turtles that call the back pond home. This employee split his time between taking care of all the patrons at the bar and surrounding dining area, as well as shucking fresh oysters. Though he was busy, he continued to entertain with great stories and facts on the surrounding area. Top notch service for sure! Conecuh Smoked Sausage is a local hickory smoked specialty. The Flying Harpoon prepares the sausage as a po’ boy sandwich on New Orléans Leidenheimer French bread, with peppers, onions, and spicy Creole mustard($ 7.75). The tasty sausage was mostly mild but the mustard helped kick it up a notch. The peppers and onions were piled high and the bread was perfect. My wife had the shrimp po’ boy with corn flour breaded and fried local gulf shrimp, lettuce, and tomato($ 9.75). Though I didn’t try this one, it got great reviews and comes highly recommended. We also shared an order of hand cut potato chips($ 3.50) that were perfectly cooked and reminded me of chips we would make at home as a kid. Great food and exceptional service make The Flying Harpoon 2 a great place to visit.
