I had the steak and onion calzone. The worst I ever had. Seemed to be from the microwave, looked huge but it was just air inside with a very thin layer of cheese and few pieces of unflavorful steak on the bottom. My wife and sister had the 7 meat lasagna which seemed from the microwave also, very small portions of actual lasagna, the cheese on top made it appear bigger they said it seemed as if it was only a little ground beef on my sister’s and just pasta and tomato sauce on my wife’s. I told the waitress about the air in the calzone and she«explained» to me that is how the dough does and she promised that the«ratio» of cheese and meat was in proportion. Whatever, we decided on this restaurant because it had such a good rating and reviews. Maybe they were off because of superbowl Sunday. However, first impressions are very important. We were not impressed and will not place this on our list. We do not recommend at all. The staff was friendly however, it is the food that is the most important feature in a restaurant. Never again!

My Florida family is here every Friday night. And I make a point of getting here on my regular visits. The food is still good. The service is fantastic. It’s a great value for the dollar

Friendship and pasta are best served warm. Very nice family atmosphere. I felt like I was I my Italian granny’s kitchen. Greeted immediately by the staff and the owner was greeting customers as well. We will be back.

My family and friends have eaten several times in this well established eatery. Fast friendly service that is also very child friendly. Large assortment of meals to choose from reasonably priced for the large portions that are perfectly seasoned to delight the most pickiest of palettes. As for my family we will be returning for many years to come. We drive several miles just for the food and the service. Hightly recommended you find this eaterly. Well worth the drive to Orange Park. Reservations can be made but not always necessary.

I don’t know what everyone is Unilocaling about this place. It was below par as far as my experience went. I went by Unilocal reviews and was disappointed. I should have walked out as soon as I walked in. There was a smell that I didn’t like immediately but my husband didn’t smell anything so we decided to go ahead and try it. We weren’t impressed with the salad. It was iceberg lettuce and tomato. We both had lasagna and it didn’t taste very good. It was a lot of meat with very little noodles and too much cheese and sauce. Will not try again as we usually would.

We love this place! Authentic Italian restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. The garlic knots are to die for! Huge portions so we always leave with enough food for a second meal later on or to take for lunch the next day. The owner personally cares for his customers. Give them a try… you’ll fall in love and dream of their fettuccine alfredo! ;-)

Had not been here for quite a while and got the chance to try it today for lunch. Wow, what a great surprise tucked away in this little strip mall deep in Orange Park. We had a salad, manicotti(custom made to mix the red and white cream sauces together, amazing taste!), a huge Stromboli(enough for 2) packed full of meats, green pepper and onion with red sauce on the side for dipping, and those famous garlic knots, hot out of the oven, drizzled with butter and fresh garlic. Heaven… yes, I WILL be back! Hear it is BYOB, but we did not think to ask to confirm that. Great service, too.

Truly loved this place. The owner came out and personally spoke with us. He has a true passion for cooking. He is a great chef. Everything was fresh. Tasted phenomenal and the waitresses made you feel like family. A great down home, feel at home type of place. Will be returning very very soon. Thank you for a great experience. Deborah R.

Love this place! Never had anything that wasn’t great. Also is BYOB… really! Went, most recently, on a Wednesday night. .pretty empty… which is unusual. Owner came by several times to thank us and see how our meals were. Server was friendly and very efficient. Highly recommend you being your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy! Closed on Monday…

OK — update. And you know how it is when a place does NOT live up to it’s previous hype? Well — Joey Mozzarella exceeds expectations in every category. This is the premier Italian Food /Pizza place in Orange Park. Bar NONE. If you have not tried it — you need to go. Want a real treat? Go in and sit down for a meal — the atmosphere is almost too friendly.(Is that possible? Thats like saying its«too much fun»). Great Food, Great Staff, Great Ownership. Do yourself a flavor — try Joey’s.

Delicious food at a great price; really makes it a nice locally owned place to grab a bite to eat.

Food was very delicious and fairly priced. The Mozzarella sticks and the garlic know, yum! enough said. The spaghetti with Italian sausage was great. The marinara sauce was a too sweet. Personally, I’ve been cutting down on sweets, but it didn’t kill the appetite. Worth visiting every now and then.

Found this place due to a recommendation from a coworker and her husband. Holy amazingness! This place is amazing. I ordered the baked ziti which is $ 8.95. Super cheap… The portion is insane! I ate dinner, lunch and dinner again from that one meal! The garlic knots are amazing and unlimited. The service was awesome. The owner came out and said hello, asked how our meal was, and gave us a reheating trick for our second round of enjoying. It’s tucked away in a small shopping strip, parking can be a tad bit of a challenge but man is this place worth the drive!

For me, Italian food all boils down to the quality of the sauce. The sauce at Joey mozzarella’s is a complete miss; it is overly sweet and has an extremely blended consistency. The closest comparison for me is to ragu. That being said, if that’s okay with you, and you weren’t raised eating at some of the best hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurants of Brooklyn, then it shouldn’t make a difference. Sorry if I offend, but let’s be realistic – I don’t make any claims saying I know what true BBQ is and I had never had grits or collard greens until I moved down here. Regardless, the service is excellent as is the time it takes to get the food from the kitchen to the table. The prices are also great especially when you account for portion size. Lunch specials are around $ 7-$ 8 and include garlic knots(more like garlic buns covered, and covered, and covered in butter) and a drink. I come here regularly, but I avoid anything with gravy(the sauce) and opt for one of the well priced and yummy salads.
