Extremely unprofessional and incompetent office staff. I called as a first time patient to schedule an appointment with Dr. Chueh, and the receptionist scheduled me with a PA without my knowledge. I have gone a few times since then and have been seen 30 minutes late every time. The receptionist takes personal phone calls and treats you like one of her teenage friends. Very unprofessional. One time I showed up for my appointment and the receptionist told me that my doc had the day off and that I would be seen by someone else instead. I told her that she should have told me this before I scheduled an appointment for this day because I do not want someone I have never met before to be handling my meds when they don’t know my whole history, and her idea of a solution was for me to come back another day but since I needed refills I had to stay. I have been to 5 different psychiatrists, and this office is by far the worst I’ve been to.

The office staff is at best indifferent and at worse incompetent. I had made an appointment and had given them my insurance card and told them I was referred by Windstone(the incompetent behavioral health care company I must use) and went to see one of their psychiatrists for about nine months. I called in to find that my doctor was no longer taking Windstone patients(a common occurance with Windstone who can not keep good psychiatrists) and was set up with a nurse practictioner. Half way through me telling her about my illness, the office manager burst in and started yelling at me. She said the psychiatrist I had been seeing was not with Windstone and so they were not being reimbursed and I owed them for nine months of visits at full price. I told them I had said I was with Windstone and I had given them my insurance card that shows I was with Windstone, but she kept yelling at me for about 20 minutes, trying to get me to write her a check for the hundreds of dollars she said I owed. I paid for that visit, got my prescriptions, and called Windstone. They also said it was my fault, but that I didn’t have to pay because ANA hadn’t followed procedure either. Six months later I received a bill from ANA for almost $ 200. I called Windstone again and was told I didn’t have to pay it. Then six months after that I received a bill from ANA for almost $ 400. Again it took another couple of calls and a great deal of upset to finally be told I didn’t owe them anything. These are the people who Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, medical groups like Greater Newport Physicans, and your insurance company have charged with the responsibility of providing mental health care to their beneficiaries. Mental health patients are being treated with indifference and abuse at the hand of the people who are suppose to be helping them. In nine years under Windstone and their providers, I have seen eight psychiatrists, because of situations just like this and worse. It is an epidemic and no one will listen.
