Nice proprietor, but you should call before you go to make sure what he has in stock and whether it’s worth traveling out to see. However, not sure what other options would be for futons. Personally I recommend ikea instead.

I came to this place with my wife, having just waded through a minefield of awful sales personnel at several other stores along the same stretch of road. This place had excellent, no-bullshit sales approach. We come in, ask for information, and receive the information we asked for, placed in proper context. What a novel concept! Before it, we went to Raymour & Flanigan’s, Bob’s, and Bassett. At all those places we received the kind of miserable treatment we’ve come to hate car dealerships for. Lots of suits follow you around even if you say«I just want to browse,» and answer price questions with some anchoring straight from sales training classes such as, «well, let me tell you the RETAIL price first.» I just can’t go to places like that and have an honest conversation about products, I can only be «sold to.» And I leave wanting a shower. Bed City is the only place we came to that didn’t deliberately bombard us with sales gimmicks and nasty, derivative psychological tactics. Nobody had evasive answers to questions about prices, quality, options, or, well, anything! The sales guy left us alone until we needed him. When we did need him, he showed us what they had in stock, and gave knowledgeable answers about types of cushions and fabrics. When we told him our specific shipping needs, he was understanding and flexible, since he’s doing the shipping himself. It’s a family shop, run by the people we saw when we walked in, which is generally a good sign. I’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 because the show room is on the small side. Also, their website is pretty underdeveloped, but that’s common for family shops and isn’t a factor for me.
