I am glad I discovered this little hidden gem. The food is down home good and the service is nice. I will definitely come back.

was looking for a gumbo fix on a visit back home. saw this place and stopped in for lunch. I ordered the chicken and sausage gumbo and some boudain balls. the gumbo was just the way I like it and had good depth of flavor. really liked the sausage in it so I bought some to go. they sell different kinds of sausage(I bought some of the spicy and mild green onion) and boudain you can take with you. while I was buying the sausage I saw the cook making a fresh batch of cracklins. uh oh, I shouldn’t have but bought some to snack on later. sinful delight. they were very good. not a fancy place but who needs that when they are looking for good Cajun food. used the sausage to season a pot of mustard greens. good stuff.

Tonight I cooked some frozen spicy boudin I bought six days ago as I drove through Orange. It was late and nothing was open so I thought, «I’ll just cook that boudin that’s sitting in the freezer. That will hold me over. «I defrosted the boudin in the sink as I did some laundry. When it was ready, I cooked it in a saucepan on medium heat with a cover. I let it cool down a little bit. I took the first bite and washed it down with some shiner blonde. How do I describe that moment? Spicy comfort. I ate three links and had one more beer. I am now ready to hibernate for 12 hours.

Never get the pork chops or the rice. Its nasty and dry. The boudian and cracklins are good though

Five stars for being located right on I-10 and for having the best cracklins ever! A veritable Cajun pit stop, if you will. Mild and spicy boudin is kept warm in steam trays adjacent to the registers. And the boudin is really good! Boudin and sausage are also available cold or frozen. Homsi’s also has seating if you prefer to eat there.
