Kaein LLC: Escape Room Orange and Team Building

I went with 5 of my friends here because we found a livingsocial deal. This place is located in a small office and they only run one puzzle at a time is my understanding. We did the Alien room. The hostess here was super friendly and very helpful. The escape room itself is run in two separate rooms, each room having its own set of puzzles but youre told that the two rooms need to work together to ultimately finish the puzzle. Some of the puzzles in the room were straightforward, and some where difficult (at least without tips, but you’re allowed unlimited tips so it’s not too bad). I honestly thought with unlimited tips we would’ve finished in less than 50 min but it took our group roughly 54 min. The alien room has a success of around 20% is what we were told with the fastest time being 52 min. Overall i liked the puzzles, i think the only drawback for this location is that the theme isn’t all too immersive. I think a simple space them wouldve been nice for aliens but that’s just me. Overall for the price though, was a great deal and great experience.

The Kaein Alien Invasion was a blast! My husband and 2 boys (ages 10 and 12) played in one room while another group of 3 (adults) played in the adjoining room. It was our first escape room experience and we had no idea what we were getting into. Both rooms have to work together to solve the challenge. Using walkie talkies, we had to communicate things that we saw and discovered to our new-​found friends in the other room. The puzzles were amazingly creative and wonderfully clever. WE LOVED THEM! Caution, however, this was not easy! There is no way our family alone could have finished in one hour. You really need at least 3 people in each room, with all hands and brains on deck. We were frenzied to finish in our hour time frame, but did with 1 min and 30 seconds left on the clock. Huge high fives and woo-​hoos all around. It really did feel like an accomplishment! The staff was terrific — shout out to Thao:) — for giving us clues (only) when needed. As a first time Escaper, I have nothing else to compare this experience to – I just know we all left exhilarated, looking forward to the next one. Thanks Kaein!

This was our first one. We had a very good time and the lady running it was helpful when needed. I recommend 6 people for this, only because one more brain make a difference. It really took thinking to solve this. I do wish we had more than 60 mins, but it was well worth every penny. Good family and friend entertainment and bonding.

My friend (below) booked this as part of my bachelorette party, so it was a bunch of my friends who have never met working together to solve the puzzle. This was my first escape room and we all had blast! The puzzles were pretty complex — some analytical, some creative, and some abstract — I don’t think I would have been able to solve it without most of the others in the room, because we complemented each other so well. I also loved the fact that it was two groups in two rooms trying to work together, which added another layer of teamwork.
We solved it in the end (woohoo!) and we all had a blast! Highly recommend this for a fun and different activity to do with friends and co-​workers!

Before this, I had experienced 2 escape rooms myself through 2 other different companies, and I have to say that the Alien room we experienced at Kaein was one of the most challenging ones I’d seen, due to the fact that there were so many puzzles to solve.
I booked the escape room as an activity on an day-​long excursion as a part of a joint bachelor/​bachelorette party for good friends of mine. We had a group of 11 go through the escape room and most of us didn’t know each other very well, as we were all mutual friends of the couple. Booking the escape room was easy enough and Thao was super helpful in answering all of my questions and was flexible in helping me book with a larger group of people.
We split up the group and each went into our own rooms and had to solve items both in our rooms, as well as communicate to the team in the other room clues we found that would help them solve puzzles in their room. Needless to say, this adds another dimension to the game as you have to be really good at verbal communication in order to help each other out blindly. I’ve never been in an escape room where you’ve had to help the other team out in order to ultimately get to the goal, so that was fun.
In the end, we ‘escaped’ and solved the mission with about 5 minutes to spare! I’m not sure if we would’ve been able to do it without that many talented brains on the team, as we all uniquely contributed to the greater effort.
Not many escape rooms accommodate teams larger than 8, so Kaein is super good about being able to put a team of up to 16 into a game. Overall, we had some skeptics in our group who were wary of doing an escape room, but I think we all had a lot of fun in the end!

We went with four friends in the Alien room and had a great time. I like that it’s catering to smaller group rather than a large 10 people room since it’s more likely to experience everything in a smaller group. I also like that the place is well lit! Just about all escape rooms I have been were dark, which was fine, expect they usually don’t provide enough flash lights, which is annoying!
There were plenty of puzzles and very few scavenger hunt. That was a big plus for me. Also I felt most of the puzzles were pretty creative and well designed. There were just two puzzles that We felt pretty disconnected and confused. We had to use two to three clues altogether. We solved the final puzzles but went over the time for two min. because we were stuck on something for a long time. The host was nice to let us finish it though our time ran out.
I would come back again if they have a new theme that’s the same or higher difficulty than the Alien.

We tryed the «Time Machine Room» for my husband’s 50 birthday. Had a great time I feel the male and female combination Is a must in working together to solve the different clues.

It was my first time doing an escape room and the Time Machine did not disappoint!
*Booking process-​4/​5: My sister got me a groupon for the holidays which expires in about 2 months so I wanted to make sure I redeemed it on time. Booking online was easy though it was hard to find a weekday evening available. After booking it, you get an email confirmation with an electronic waiver to sign online. That was convenient and saved time during the check in process.
*Location/​facility-​2/​5: Finding the place is a bit hard. Streets get darker and quieter as you approach it (repair shops etc nearby) and there is not a sign you can easily see. It is on the corner of Main St. and Struck Av. Look for the offices across from Danny K’s bar. The parking lot in the back was almost empty. When i walked towards the front door, there was a homeless guy laying right by the entrance who eventually got up and left. Inside, the reception area is small with a long narrow hall to the room. The rooms’ walls do not go up all the way to the ceiling so they try not to book both rooms at the same time so you do not hear other groups, which is nice.
*Experience ⁴⁄₅: The time machine room was simple, not too big, but the puzzles were pretty good. You have to observe, think and even do some math. You have a walkie talkie and you can get unlimited clues. We asked for 4 clues and almost made in the hour timeframe. The girl who helped us was very nice and asked if we wanted 5 extra minutes which we used and finished the game. There was also some background music that made it more interesting. They only allow 4 – 5 people per room so a more intimate experience.
Since I have not been in other escape rooms, I cannot compare. Some people say other rooms are more elaborate but the regular price is slightly lower than other escape rooms I have asked about so I think it is good for the price.

Was a very fun experience. It was a little harder then I thought it would be but that’s okay we liked the challenge. We will come back for the alien room for sure !

I’ve always played «Can you escape» kind of games on my phone and I was so excited to actually get to play in real life!
A group of four participated in one of two games called the Time Machine. Your goal is to find clues to destroy the time machine. You’re given an hour and three hints to do so.
My honest first impression was not good. It was located in one of the bland buildings that you would have never guessed what’s inside of it. I expected a building of itself where it already looks mysterious and dazzling outside. But don’t judge a book by its cover. Even though the room inside was designed very simple as well, it was good enough for us to chase down the clues one by one. After using all three hints, we were able to finish the game after 53 minutes!
It’s definitely a thing to try if you like to solve puzzles and riddles!

I have tried both rooms and they were both AMAZING. The Time Machine was a nice difficulty level, like a nice tickle for your brain. The Alien was definitely a lot more challenging but was super impressive! Loved all the puzzles. I also like how it’s only 4 people per room because then you’re a part of every step along the way. Would recommend to anyone!

How awesome is this place! If u want some brain work then this is the place to go. Super duper friendly staff, challenging rooms, reasonable price. What more do u want??? :)) u won’t regret. For a fast & efficient way out have a team of individuals from different backgrounds. That’s where your creative juices really come about. Have fun!!!

At this point, this would be our 3^rd escape room and for the most part we have enjoyed each of them. So what drew us here was the Groupon deal and I wanted to take a friend of mine here for his bday because he has never gone to an escape room before. For the most part, the Alien Room with 4 people is an excellent starter room, the clues make sense and they follow a logical order.
I don’t like giving away too many spoilers but the theme feels more connected the farther you go into the puzzles. At first, I was like, how is this an Alien room but half way through you’ll feel it. XD. We got through the room with just a few seconds to spare so it was a tight one for us. The locks weren’t retarded like Exodus room so we happy that everything was working perfectly fine. They didn’t have any clues that were just too abstract and I love their usage of physics and science in some of the puzzles.
Overall, this is a great starter room and everything flows well. The prices here are reasonable so if you wan’t an OC escape room experience, I would recommend this one.

I’ve tried both the Alien Room and the Time Machine Room. The Alien Room is definitely harder with more clues to solve and clever puzzles. They give you unlimited hints (at least with the Time Machine Room — can’t recall if they gave us umlimited hints with the Alien Room), which helps, though we tried not to ask too many. The Time Machine Room is linear in concept, which makes it easier than rooms where all the clues are random and solved in no particular order. You must solve each puzzle to move on to the next — I think I prefer that. The room is definitely no frills — it’s basic and the clues are not that difficult, though we were stumped on one and got lucky figuring out. Locks are easy (I’ve seen some crazy locks in other rooms/​locations), so no prior knowledge is necessary. One piece of equipment was broken in the Time Machine Room, and it took up several minutes, but we figured out it was broken with the help of the woman working there. Hopefully they got it fixed. We still escaped, though, with a couple of minutes to spare.
My friends and I did not escape from the Alien Room, though. It’s another simply decorated room with a surprise, which I won’t disclose, that I liked. Even though we didn’t escape, we were given another 10 or 15 minutes to try to figure it out on our own since there was no one scheduled after us. We still didn’t succeed! :(
Staff is friendly and there is a small parking lot — there is also a small sign outside the door in case you get lost and go to the wrong building. Both times were a deal — one on Groupon and another getting more than 50% off (better than Groupon) as a repeat customer.
I’ve done a lot of escape rooms and they all vary in their own way. I think I’d like it if the production value were a little higher (more money spent on decorating the rooms). I did like that you can do this room with only 3 – 4 people vs. a huge group. This way everyone definitely gets hands on time solving more clues. I think most of the clues to the puzzles did make sense, once you figured it out. I’d return if they opened another room.

We played the Alien game this weekend. We had already played the time machine. I liked this game a bit more than the time machine room. The puzzles made sense and were fun to figure out. We got a little stumped on one and asked for help. I enjoyed the physical puzzles in this room most. It’s not a typical escape room. You must call in the answer to a puzzle to complete the game. It’s fun.

Kaein is located in a nondescript beige office building on Main St. It’s across the street from the billiards bar. It was a little hard to find but once you find it the fun begins!
We were greeted by the host and she took us through the scenario. We did the Alien room and we needed to solve a mystery involving an alien. It was different from most escape rooms where you aren’t actually escaping anything but instead are on a mission.
The Alien room uses a lot of technology and interesting puzzles. Some of them were pretty hard and we had to use 2 clues.
Great room. Only criticism I have is that the harsh fluorescent lighting detracts from the experience and I would’ve used better lighting design to set the mood.

I read reviews about the setting of the room… I think it fits pretty well with the theme.
The puzzles were pretty challenging. To be honest, I felt that getting started was one of the harder parts. So many clues, but how to put them all together?
Well I wont spoil the fun about the puzzles. You have to go to see it for yourself! I had a blast. Will come again for the time machine!

They do a lot with the space that they have. I was a tad disappointed in the time machine room because we were double-​booked (when I thought the maximum was 3 per room, not 4 per room like the Alien). The Alien is definitely the harder room and there is indeed a pleasant (possibly painfully so) present in there.
There were moments in both rooms when we needed a nudge. The background music is fun, too. I haven’t heard the death doom one, but the victory song is pretty hilarious. The theme and relevant clues are pretty cohesive. The clues are a little more cohesive in the Time Machine (and the false clue nuggets are few but they do abound and are positively evil!)

A brother & sister run shop. They’re nice and didn’t want to flay us for arriving right on time cause we kinda missed the 15 minutes ahead of time bit. They indeed kept quite calm. Not sure if world-​destruction-​failures also get it, but we were presented with a basket of water bottles and snacks if we wanted to grab anything, which was a bonus on top of the victory of winning.

We tried this room because of a Groupon that let us pay only $ 11.75 per person for the room. Which is, in my opinion, about how much the experience was worth.
First, it’s not really a «true» Escape the Room experience. Instead of trying to escape, you’re trying to solve a puzzle. Once you solve the puzzle, you need to call the staff on the walkie talkie and tell them what you think the solution is. Really? They couldn’t spend the money on a cheap iPad or desktop computer that allows you to type the answer in and automatically unlock the door? It’s really anticlimactic to solve everything, and then just talk into a walkie and have the staff tell you, «Yup, you’re right! OK, time to go!!!»
Second, the presentation of the room wasn’t very polished. The walls don’t even completely reach the ceiling, so you don’t really feel like you’re «transported» anywhere special. But more importantly, all of the furniture and art looks like items purchased from Goodwill and quickly cobbled together by a team of college students. For a room called «The Alien,» there was really nothing «alien» or «foreign» about the room at all. It felt more like we were sifting through grandpa’s office down in the basement, not a secret government agency.
There were visible screws on some items and some colored labels on some of the locks that said «STAFF,» but those were there to prevent us from trying to force some of the items that were attached to certain places in the room. Some of the magic kind of _​has_​to be lost there for practical reasons.
Lastly, the puzzles! I have mixed feelings on the puzzles. On one hand, I liked how difficult they were, and how they provided us with scratch paper and a calculator in a manner that fit well with the story. Some of the puzzles made me REALLY think out of the box, and I really enjoyed that. On the other hand, the logical progression of a few of the puzzles was SO RANDOM, that I got pretty frustrated a couple of times.
For example, in one of the puzzles, one part of the room had a clue that was used as part of a cipher in another part of the room. But there was ZERO indication that the clue from the first part of the room should be used in the second part of the room. No common symbol, no common theme… nothing. For another puzzle, a hint was provided that could be used to decipher clues. But the hint was just another encrypted clue! If I didn’t see something similar in another room escape game that gave a GOOD clue, I would have needed to ask for a hint to solve that puzzle too.
Thankfully, you can ask for unlimited hints for these puzzles. Normally, room escape games limit you to two hints. About half of the puzzles logically flow, and the other half are trial-​and-​error let’s apply this clue to EVERYTHING in the room and see what gets unlocked. Which just doesn’t feel polished.
I do have to say that the staff here was _​very_​sweet and kind. We, unfortunately, arrived about 15 minutes later than we were supposed to arrive, and since the next room escape players were scheduled to arrive much later in the day, the staff allowed us to play for the full hour. She also was _​very_​attentive, watching our every move and listening to our dialogue, and remembered our names! When we asked for hints, she would say, «Person 1 was on the right track when she was looking at this clue» or «It looks like Person 2 has that item, try using that item somewhere else around this other area of the room.»
It appears as though this room escape business only recently opened, so they may have a few kinks to work out. If they just improved the presentation of the room so that it looks more like you’re «transported» to a new world, and put better logical ties between the clues and the locks so you don’t have to depend upon trial and error so much, it would improve drastically.

What a fun experience!
Went here with my husband. This was our first time playing an «escape room» game. We did the UFO themed room. Technically, the room is unlocked, so it is more of a «mission-​based» game – having to solve the date/​location of the next alien invasion. It really involved piecing clues together. Having good team work is really important! Have an open dialogue with each other and also open your eyes to the setting around you– you don’t want to miss any details! There were a couple of really cool surprises in the room – but you’ll have to check it out for yourself to find out what they are! ;)
The staff (host) was really friendly. The rooms/​settings were very well done. Everything was clean and organized. As for the logistics, there’s plenty of parking on the street and next to the building.
I definitely would come back to (try and attempt!) the other room. This is a great experience to share with family and friends.
