I need to update my review for old school sharpening. Over the past few years they’ve always done a stellar job of sharpening my knives, however the last 2x have been rushed and the finish has been really horrible. They used to go over the edge with a few different belts then finish with the leather belt but the last 2x was just a quick one belt no leather wham bam here ya go. The shape of the blade now has a curve to it I’d love to post a picture but not sure how to go about it(SOG flash tanto point) I’m really bummed to write this because I’ve always been extremely happy with them but unfortunately not anymore and I’ll be looking elsewhere.

This is a fantastic service for people who like to cook and want to have really sharp knives. The prices are reasonable, I you can’t beat the conversation while you are waiting. The business is portable. it is a father and son operation that provides a great quality service. They have an old panel truck that they pull up to the Ace Hardware on Tustin Ave. on Sundays. They will sharpen your knives for you in about 5 — 10 minutes in the back of the truck. They will talk to you about your knives or about life in general. When I got my knives back, they were sharper than they were out of the box, and they keep the edge for a while. I can’t come anywhere close to this kind of sharpness at home. Recently, I broke a knife handle. I called to see whether they could repair it. Unfortunately, they cannot, but they were very honest with me regarding the prospects for getting the handle fixed. Like much else in our world these days, fine knives are pretty much disposable and not worth repairing. Looks like I will be getting a new chef’s knife for my birthday. Prices are about $ 6 — 9 per knife. They also do scissors. Cash only I think, but you have to expect that since they are working out of the back of the truck. Check them out.

We first saw this cool knife sharpening-mobile at a local food truck round-up in Orange and made sure to hit them up that weekend at the local Ace hardware store where they set up each weekend. Sean was a really nice guy to work with. He gave us a fabulous deal to sharpen a handful of kitchen knives and all of my craft and sewing scissors. Everything was sharpened to perfection. I’m so glad we got everything sharpened up before the holidays. I highly recommend these guys for all of your knife, scissor and garden tool sharpening needs.
