I love sitting on the patio with a glass of white wine and a healthy salad(the bbq chicken, dressing on the side, is ace). When you want to go out but you don’t want heavy food, Ruta’s is perfect. The food is down-to-earth, which means the menu is full of simple wraps and sandwiches that are probably already on your weeknight rotation. If you’re looking for exciting restaurant fare, save Ruta’s for a night when you need healthy, mostly vegetarian comfort food.

I’ve eaten here for years, but this review is for their catering. I just threw a baby shower at the Dragonfly shop next door(highly recommend!) and we got catering from here to make life easy. They were fantastic! We got a couple of salads and a sandwich tray. We were worried about it not being enough food, and they were nice enough to make us a full pasta salad to make sure we had plenty of food and didn’t charge us a dime for it! Who does that??? We ended up with plenty of leftovers though, so we were worried for no reason. All of our food had individual labels on it including the dressings. All in all, they made my party lovely and easy, and I enthusiastically recommend their catering(though I do think their numbers are a bit off — we had 15 people and their sandwich tray for 8 – 10 ended up with tons of leftovers… a great problem to have!).

A great place for healthy eaters and prices are reasonable. We have been coming to this Restaraunt for years and will continue to do so. They have a great selection, almost to many, of menu items. If you are looking for a good place to eat that is healthy for you then do not pass up this restaurant. Service is always good even when they are busy.

We went here for lunch. The place is homey and quirky. They had a lot of vegetarian options which is good if you have vegetarian friends who are sick of salad. The artichoke dip is really nice and we gobbled it all up immediately. I had the seafood enchilada and the portions were huge. Service is also quick and polite. Definitely going back

Love this place! Amazing salads and healthy choices. Staff is always pleasant. Parking is terrible, but it is worth the extra stress.

I live in Oregon but am originally from Old Town. I always come here when I am visiting and I am always satisfied. As a vegetarian there extensive menu of veggie options serve me well. This last visit I had the Veggi Cobb salad. I love the amount of stuff they put in their salads, the variety makes the salad feel like a meal and is so much more than salads any place else. I also really enjoyed their veggie chili. Really good flavor. My friend had a veggie burger and enjoyed it very much. Service is great and my bloody mary was the icing on the cake. Can’t go wrong here!

I’ve been eating at Rutabagorz for years! More than 20, I think! Starting with the Fullerton location, then Irvine(now gone) and now Tustin! My daughter, a strict vegetarian, loves the great menu selection too! I stick with the delicious bbq chicken sandwich when I’m on a meat eating kick –usually just when I’m pregnant – but their veggie burgers, soups, breakfast items – all are great! Service is friendly too.

The menu is totally different from Fullerton’s and everything is more expensive like a doll or or twos difference the quality if the food seems less as well but I still gave four stars because I love the idea of rutas hopefully this location can get it is together.

Adorable, quirky little restaurant with pretty yummy food and a lot of vegetarian options. It’s proved surprisingly hard to find vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Orange circle, and Rutabegorz definitely provides a lot of options on the menu. The staff is very kind there and even offered for my family, who lived out of the town at the time, to stay at their tiny and absolutely adorable hotel/inn right next door. Great choice for the vegetarians in the area, especially those who go to Chapman, since it’s so close.

I love coming here for lunch. The place can get busy, so be prepared for that. Food is delish, and staff is very attentive. I always get the turkey with cream cheese sandwich and sometimes the killer chili.

I love this place for vegetarian and vegan choices. Don’t get me wrong, I love meat, Their menu is extensive, and everything I have ever tried is delicious. It isn’t cheap food, but it’s good food. I love all their salads, which are served in a huge bowl; Curry chicken, garlic chicken, BBQ chicken… you can’t go wrong. The outdoor seating is lovely and perfect for a warm spring day.

Avocado chicken salad smashed and mixed up was a winning meal. I also had the Thai wrap(a cold chicken wrap with sweet peanut sauce) which I wasn’t a big fan of. Overall, Rutabegorz is a great spot when you’re trying to be healthy.

The menu at Rutabegorz is ridiculously extensive, from their appetizers to wraps, two full pages of salads, sandwiches, soups and chili, and bowls with brown rice, quinoa, and all things healthy. They have vegan, vegetarian, and meat choices. I’ve come here for a sandwich on squaw and wasn’t impressed then. The second time I came, I got their Cobb salad and wasn’t impressed because they used baby corn; however, my companions had meals that looked pretty good(chili with grilled cheese, a Southwest bowl). The last time was my first time to the Orange location — I have been to every location now, and it was my favorite. It’s located near Bruxie’s, a few cute houses down. It was 8pm on a Monday so there was no one else there. The staff was kind and service was really quick. Every sandwich has a salad counterpart. I picked the turkey, fig, and goat cheese wrap, simple and AMAZING. BESTWRAPEVER. The wrap was served with pasta salad, a pickle, and a slice of melon. I ate half and had the other half as leftovers for the next day. My companion chose a ½ egg salad sandwich with a giant bowl of vegan chili. They gave him extra cheese without charging.

NOT the same as the classic locations of Fullerton and Tustin. Only similarity: the food is fresh. Differences: 1. The clientele 2. The Denny’s style menu 3. The cleanliness of the Denny’s style menu 4. No awesome special’s menu — the specials are on the permanent menu. That’s not special! 5. $ 1 apps instead of .49 cent 6. Apple pie WITHOUT cheddar. REALLY? Still totally fresh ingredients, but I will never be going back to this location.

Super cute location. The menu was a little overwhelming with it’s huge selection. I wanted to try everything but we ended up getting the turkey, date and goat cheese wrap on the gluten free tortilla, the chicken quinoa bowl and I ordered a cup of their chicken tortilla soup. Everything was healthy and delicious and I will definitely be back. Customer service was on point too. Great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner outside.

I am normally pretty hesitant when it comes to eating near the Orange Circle… but I was pretty impressed with Rutabegorz! I will say, I do think that it is slightly overpriced and their menu is a bit too big, but overall quality and atmosphere are great! They have great outdoor seating that is fun and quaint, perfect for warm evenings. But man. that menu was like reading a textbook and for someone who has decision making issues like me, it took way too long to figure out what to get. I appreciate that they provide options, but there is a lot going on. I ended up getting a bowl(i can’t remember the name) that had rice, quinoa, black beans, chicken, tomatoes, corn… with a few chips and salsa on the side. It tasted great! I enjoyed it. And it was a decent serving size. But it was $ 12, and I feel like I could have gotten the same thing at Chipotle for 7 bucks. BUT for the atmosphere it was worth it. From what I could see, salads were HUGE. My friend got a pot dinner with chicken and vegetables and rice, and it also was so massive. So they don’t skimp on the portions. Overall, pretty solid option in Orange! Paid more than I think it is worth, but good quality food and nice service. Just be prepared to read a novel to get through the menu.

I’ve come here several times and it is definitely a great place for a light and healthy lunch. I recommend sitting outside since the inside can be a little crowded as it is technically in a «home». The menu is huge and has a great variety of salads, sandwiches and other dishes. The salads are HUGE, my favorite is the garlic chicken and avocado. What I love about this place is their monthly appetizer specials were are $ 1 or sometimes 50 cents! I also love the Not a BLT sandwich which is made with turkey bacon and served on squaw bread.

An excellent find if you’re in Downtown Orange! The facility was clean and the décor was on point; especially the bathroom!(One of the most decorated and themed bathrooms I’ve seen yet). Their food options are very, very broad; even with the widest variety of palates, you are sure to find something of your liking here. They offer both vegetarian and meat options here, and some vegan options as well. I had half of a fig, olive tapenade and grilled veggies sandwich on gluten-free bread, with vegan chili and a side of vegetarian pasta salad. I WASSTUFFED. The sandwich was hella good, and the chili was tasty! They also have a seasonal menu which rotates often, so you always have new options! If I was a constant resident of Cali, I would be there allll the time!

Love this place! Frequent visitor of this location, but have also been to Fullerton. Fresh, healthy food with lots of vegetarian options. Super quick to go orders, and prompt, friendly service for dine in. I love sitting on the patio, but the dark interior is romantic also. My go-to dishes are the salami sandwich and the black bean chili, as well as their salads — which are all huge! If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love their selection of giant cookies! Ladies — you must take a trip to the loo — it’s been voted one of the best women’s restrooms in Orange County. When you see it, you’ll understand!

Looking at the photos of the food actually didn’t do its true justice, because i originally wanted try somewhere else but my gf had already parked her booty at the outdoor patio so I obliged and sat down with low expectations. At first it sorta did disappoint as we placed an order for their monthly $ 1 deal of the chip and chipotle dip which had way too much mayo than anything and I had about 3 pieces and I was GROSS Out! Let me add that the adorable location of Rutabagorz is where dt Orange is held and I just fell in love with how quaint this place is! A lot of the restaurants are basically homes that been tranformed into a restaurant and I love it! So now, upon hearing the«Peasent Mushroom» and the discription of it, i wasn’t too impressed but i always urged myself to try something new so when it came out, the presentation was actually beautiful and the taste. WOW, full of flavor and really delicious! Rice, cheese and bread and mushroom on top of each other. i can’t even make it sound yummy but it reallllly was good! I probably gain a few pounds but thats why they have such an adorable little town, it forces you to walk around the fountain and walk off all the heavy food!
