Ok, so I’m going to start off by saying this review starts in Lompoc, Ca and ends in Phoenix, Az. Also, fair warning, this review has become quite the novella! I Would love 5 star reviews all the time and it looks like most people get that from iCracked. Back on 3/11, I was in Lompoc, where I’m from, visiting family for a week. My precocious 8 year old broke my brand new iPad mini 3. That was a Wednesday and I was scheduled to make the 8 hour drive home early Sunday morning, 3⁄15. I googled iPad repair and iCracked popped up, with excellent reviews and repairs done quickly. I called and within minutes I received a text from Pete, my assigned iTech. I went through the whole«my son broke it, I need it repaired by Sunday» spew. He tells me it’ll cost $ 150, he says he can meet me on the 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Lompoc Starbucks. Great!!! He messages me the next day at 9:45 a.m. saying he’ll be there shortly. I reminded him that I was told at 11:00 and I can’t get there any sooner. So he tells me I can’t be there at 11:00, that he can meet me back at 3:30 p.m. I’m very accommodating, so I say of course. In the end he says he’ll just meet me at 11:00 and kill time before that. I get there 15 minutes before 11:00. Pete was very nice, professional and looked over the iPad, I signed the online form and was told he’d have it done that Friday, but he’s going to the beach with his family. It so happens that we were also heading that way so we agreed we’d meet in Orcutt later in the day. Unfortunately Pete calls me later on and says he didn’t realize it was an iPad Mini 3 and he doesn’t have the parts and has to order them. Again, I’m out on Sunday… Goodbye Lompoc, without my iPad. Yet I’m still understanding, it’s in my nature, and say that’s fine. On 3⁄17 he says he needs my passcode because it’s put together… on 3⁄19 he is ready to deliver it to my mother in Buellton. By the way that was at my request so he wouldn’t be stuck with shipping costs… see my nature is sweet and understanding lol. My mother pays the $ 165 to Pete, not the $ 150 he tells me from the start. And she ships it. I received it on 3⁄23 and its incased in bubble wrap and looks great. I took it to my room, plugged it in. On 3⁄24 I noticed the home button seemed«off» and a dried glue was on the edges on the screen. On 3⁄25 I downloaded«Lord of the Flies» for my 14 year old son, for a school report. A few pages turned later, the home button shifted almost inside the iPad and the iPad can’t be operated at all. I text Pete to let him know and he swiftly replied, again he’s always been super nice, and he let me know the steps to take to get iCracked to do warranty work on it. Thankfully they’re in Phoenix too! So now the setting is in the dry and hot desert of Az, no longer the oceanic breezes of Lompoc. I filled out the warranty form online and it took until the 31st and several emails for them to give me an iTechs name in Phoenix, and the iTech Michael tells me he can’t help me, too busy. My name is then given to Bill. He picks up my iPad from my home on 4/1, thinking its a new repar, not warranty work. On the 4th he tells me that there’s an issue with the flex cable and he’s waiting on corporate to assist him with this repair. The next word I hear is in the form of a voice message on 4⁄7 wanting to know all the details from day one. It’s another Pete but located at iCrackeds corporate office. He tells me that they’re replacing the iPad and I’ll receive a new one, exactly the same one I handed them but brand new. Also they have to keep my old iPad, great! Thank you and that’s great! So I call here and there to get the update on where this new iPad is, following through is a big deal to my husband so it’s now second nature to me. I get told I’ll call you back and find out and then not get called back… that happened about 3 times. My husband, who bought me the iPad, calls and leaves a message, not a happy one either. During this I’m still polite as pudding, my nice natured self can’t help but shine through. I try to be compassionate and understanding. I try to always remember the World doesn’t revolve around me. Pete calls me to say he’s sorry he wasn’t able to call me back and that the iPad is scheduled for delivery on Friday, 4/24,to my assigned iTech Bills home. I text Bill and ask if it’s there Friday evening, he says No. So I patiently wait until Monday and text him and ask if it’s there. He says No. I call Pete in the corporate office and he says he’ll call me back in 10 minutes and track the iPad. I never got a call back that day. I text Bill and tell him how frustrated I am and he agrees and apologizes. Remember, this is on Monday, 4/27.On Tuesday, 4⁄28 Pete leaves me a message that a confirmed delivery to Bill was on Monday! I text Bill, he says I didn’t see it but says he also didn’t check the mail! Seriously? I finally got the iPad on 4⁄29! The techs are all nice but it doesn’t make this debacle any less frustrating.
