I hired John to restore my father’s antique 100 year old player piano. John had our player piano mechanism for 6 months, twice as long as he promised. He did not restore it properly, the mechanism still leaks. I questioned him about it and he lost his temper and yelled at me. My elderly father questioned his work, but did not want to deal with him any longer, so he just paid him in full, over $ 5,000. John also put the wrong size casters on the piano. He marred and dented our new hardwood floor through carelessness, which included knocking over the piano bench. The piano tuner he recommended could not tune the piano after two attempts. Now my father is hiring someone else to correct the mistakes and redo the restoration, this will cost him thousands of dollars. John also restored an antique clock that my father owned. The glass he put on it is obviously old, it has the imprint from something else that it used to be on. It is sad that he did not simply buy new glass for such a treasured piece, it would have cost less than $ 4.00 to have one cut at a frame shop, and my father paid him over $ 200. I sincerely apologized to my father for hiring him, a huge mistake on my part.
