Been over five years since last visit. So glad we came back. Service was always good. Tonight Chase took it over the top. The food was always the issue in the past. Not this time. Bone in ribeye was perfect. The owner stopped by to check and we told him of our long absence and how good it was to enjoy our meal. The Chef stopped by when he heard of past experience. Both of these gentlemen were genuinely concerned. Maybe it is the fact the two were young but I believe this new generation of Cousino’s understand their guest. By the way… Long Islands were good and the Crème Brûlée was insane.

Stopped in for dinner with my mom on a Wednesday night — busy but not packed. Seated immediately and cordially and had fast service for ordering drinks and food. Our waitress was very nice and timely about checking on our table. The appetizer that my mom and I shared was the baked brie on toast which, while delicious, was heavily layered with balsamic vinaigrette. The house salad was pretty standard but came with the best garlic bread roll I’ve had at a restaurant. My mom asked for a second roll and the waitress gave us 4! I ordered the bleu cheese and fried onion hanger steak, which came out rare instead of medium — not a huge problem with me since I like rare steaks anyway. The fried onions that came with were very chewy and saturated with oil. Smashed red potatoes are fantastic as is the casserole potato! My mom ordered the 12oz sirloin with mushrooms added on which came out perfect.

Great place in Oregon — steak was delicious and well cooked, salad was amazing with beets and homemade blue cheese dressing, and rolls were warm and tasty. Couldn’t finish it all! Did not like the remashed potato that was their specialty, but everything else was great! Definitely come hungry.

Went there last night for my Mom’s birthday. I had a cup of French onion soup and Prime Rib both were superb. My wife ordered a loaded baked potato with broccoli the broccoli was raw she sent it back and it came back cooked perfectly. The house salad seemed like it came from a bag could be fresher with more interesting greens besides iceberg. Salad dressing was home-made and very good. I think there are to many choices on the menu they should pair it down and focus on what they are good at. Still a great choice for dinner out in Toledo. We will be back.

Stopped in around 7:30 for dinner on Saturday, November 14th. We were very pleased to be seated immediately, even though the lot was almost full. Great young waiter(sorry.totally forgot his name) suggested the hanger steak special and that was my choice. I had read about a hanger steak before(sometimes called a «butcher’s steak»), but had never tried it. Cousino’s serves theirs on a metal plate and topped with crumbled bleu cheese and onion straws. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. My side was the crispy home fries and they were very good and homemade. My partner had the jumbo shrimp and he wasn’t disappointed at all. They were definitely«jumbo» shrimp and well prepared. He went with the smashed redskins as a side and said they were tasty. We both had a salad, he had the Italian dressing and I went with the Bleu Cheese. I would say that it almost tasted like a combo of bleu cheese and ranch, but it was still good.(I am not a ranch fan). The only disappointment was that they serve you just one dinner roll and it’s on your salad plate. Not that I needed a ton of bread, but they were nice and warm and fresh and a second one would have been great. However. I didn’t ask, either. so it’s possible they might have brought more. One thing I really like is that it’s a casual place. A t-shirt and jeans is fine here.

While the service was great, the food was lack luster. I recommend the desserts though. And the full bar was reasonably priced.

A friend and I went there on Saturday evening. Although it was the weekend, the place was not very busy. The restaurant sits across the street from a refinery. The place seems to cater to a middle aged and older crowd. The bathrooms were clean, the parking was ample and there was working Wi-Fi. The food was mediocre, at best, and there was no gluten-free menu. In particular, the salad was small and mainly composed of iceberg lettuce and matchstick carrots, instead of a good mix, as it should have been. The waiter, Chase, really was the problem. He addressed us as if he were a football coach. He was not a good listener and I felt that I was being brushed off. He was not attentive to detail. I got the feeling that we were a nuisance. His tone of voice suggested that it was all about him. Unless this is an old family favorite of yours, I would say that this would be a good place to avoid.

Great steaks. Toledo does not have very many GOOD steakhouses left and this is one of the best. French onion soup is awesome. Garlic butter is a must on steaks. Would recommend in a hearbeat.

Our experience was disappointing. The New York Strip was vastly overpriced. It was more like $ 13 – 17 steak than a $ 31 one. The steak was cooked medium, as I requested, but part of it was tough and it had no seasoning whatever. The potato skins were fair at best.

Came in from out of town and ate here for a wedding. Service was slow as molasses. Ordered onions with my steak and they brought them out about 20 minutes after the steak arrived. They served about half the party salt water instead of regular water. No joke, they served us salt water on accident repeatedly. Food was okay. Nothing great. It took thirty minutes to get out first round of drinks and then another hour to get another one. This place is trash. I’m shocked that it is in business.

So as an update to my review… I was sitting at home the day after I posted my last review and the phone rings. It was the manager from Cousinos. She asked if I posted this review on Unilocal and I asked how she got my number. She matched my review up with the reservation time and party size… I found this very unsettling and a little bit spooky. Bottom line be careful if you post on Unilocal

Only thing I have ever ordered from menu that I even cared for was the potato casserole & French onion soup, which is among some the«BEST» I have ever had! All other menu items, & I have tried many, would scarcely earn 1 star :-(However, their Sunday brunch, bread & french onion soup has earned Cousino’s a solid 4 stars :-)

I manage to convince someone to take me here at least 3 – 4 times a year. Have eaten here since I was young. Maybe I am just nostalgic but I love the atmosphere, worn as it is. The House Special Sirloin & casserole potatoes are why I go there. Nice wine list & good service. Not many old fashioned steak houses anymore, now it’s peanut shells on the floor, line dancing staff. Not saying that is bad, just different.

We have been regular customers at Cousino’s for over 12 years. We had the worst meal there tonight that I have ever had at a steakhouse. 4 of the 5 steaks that were delivered to our table were grossly over cooked. after being sent back, 2 of the 5 were again over cooked. my son sent his back 4 times and it was still over done. After the 4th steak, he just decided to eat it because he had somewhere to be. When I asked to speak the manager, she refused to make any adjustment to the bill. I am canceling our next reservations that we had scheduled for my son’s high school graduation party. I will never return to Cousino’s and it’s a shame because it used to be a great Steak for a very reasonable price.

Last visit was really disappointing. Service was really slow, almost 15 minutes wait to place our order after we got our drinks(not busy at the time, many empty tables).the waitress seemed annoyed when I asked about the seasonal and monthly beer selections and when my Mother in law asked about side dish choices(if you don’t want people asking about them print the choices on the menu.) we were disappointed that they no longer bring dinner rolls to the table unless you request them, it would be nice if they asked if you would like some The deep fried Mushrooms were great but, The house sirloins were tasty but was almost 1⁄3 fat and the French onion soup was nearly tasteless. This was a really hard review to write, we have dined here at least 80 times in the last 7 or 8 years. Over the last 2 years or so I have noticed the quality of the food and service slipping. We will give them another try someday, hopefully we will see the restaurant we used to love!

My wife and I have been going to Cousino’s for a few years now. Our first experience there was horrible and we did not go back for about two years. We ended up getting invited to a birthday party there and discovered that the food had improved. We started going back about twice a month and other than a few hiccups in service had always been satisfied. We had dinner there the weekend before valentines day and my wife said she would like to come back to celebrate our anniversary which just happens to be on valentines day. I made reservations when we were leaving. Valentines day came and we arrived at the restaurant and were not surprised it was packed. We got seated after about a 15 minute wait because we had made reservations the week before. The waitress took our drink order and asked if we would like an appetizer. We asked for the deep fried mushrooms which we always get and was told that they are not serving those. We were a bit shocked and asked to see the menu. We quickly noticed that the only things on the menu were the higher priced appetizers and entrees. We opted to not have an appetizer because we did not like any of the choices. When the server came back to take our order my wife asked for the prime rib special that was on the menu board as you walk in. She was told that the only thing available was what was on the abbreviated menu. She settled for something that she really did not want some sort of chicken fried steak mess. I looked for the Reuben sandwich and of course it was not on the menu either. I ordered the chicken Parmesan which I really did not want. The food came and right away I knew I was stopping to get a pizza on the way home. My meal was just about floating in a plate full of watery marinara that ended up being luke warm and tasteless. I am a big eater and very rarely leave anything on my plate but when asked if I needed a box at the end of the meal I said no thanks and left my barely half eaten meal. My wife’s dinner was equally disappointing and it was barely warm which leads me to believe they were pre made and microwaved. I was going to complain to the restaurant directly but cannot find an email address to send it too. I think it is really crap that they do this sort of bait and switch on the menu to just make a bigger buck by exploiting the holiday. I’m sure if we went back on a non holiday it probably would be the same as we had experienced in the past. I am not sure we will ever go back because of these antics. Too bad.

My wife and I went to Cousino on a Saturday afternoon. It was buffet time and just looking at the food should have been warning not to sit down. For starters they had cheesecake sitting out for consumption on the buffet. They looked like they had been sitting out for hours. Needless to say, it didn’t make either one of us want to hurry up and order. My wife ordered a Grilled Chicken Salad, while I ordered a Steakhouse burger. I ordered my burger medium. When we got our food, her salad was drowned in Ranch Dressing. My burger was very well done, and dry. The fries that was accompanying it, looked as if it was bought at the frozen food section of the local Kroger grocery store. Fortunately when I complained about the burger they did offer to make me a new one, I said no, and they refunded me the cost of the burger. I wouldn’t try the place again

Cousino’s location is quirky. Surrounded by a grocery store, some old industrial warehouses and a very hard to miss oil refinery, it’s not the type of place you’d expect to find a decent, borderline«fine dining» restaurant. Heck, there is an adult video store within eyeshot of this Toledo institution. While the setting and atmosphere outside are strange, the inside tells a different story. As you enter, you’ll notice the walls covered in amazing old photographs from the long history of Cousino owned restaurants. The décor is typical steak house, with eclectic tiffany style lamps, dark corners, booths and the like… it’s standard, welcoming and comfortable. We went to Cousino’s this afternoon after seeing a facebook post about their Sunday brunch, and we’re sure glad we stopped by. The full menu was available, but we opted for the buffet. Talk about a satisfying plate of food! We arrived at 1pm, and even though the grub had been out for a couple of hours, things were hot and flavorful. The buffet has way more lunch /dinner options than breakfast, but everything goes well together. I opted to try everything, and enjoyed most options. The beef & gravy was divine and surprisingly went well with the eggs and sausage. The entire plate was over the top in the savory department, and after one plate I was so overwhelmed I couldn’t make a second trip to try more. The pork chops were quite good, as was the mac & cheese but you can’t really mess something like that up. The only mistake I made, was in ordering a side of fried pickles. Don’t get me wrong, Cousino’s hand cut pickles are REALLY good. But the spicy & piquant horseradish cocktail sauce was too much. I was overwhelmed with salty flavors. I’m a sucker for fried pickles and want to try Cousino’s again under different circumstances… say after a few stiff cocktails. Long story long, the buffet is solid. A little pricy if you don’t make multiple trips, but for the price we left completely fulfilled.

The restaurant is in an industrial area. Although, the previous review mentions dated décor, the restaurant is older but not bad. The menu is good size. You can substitute sides and other items. The southern fried steak is awesome! Fried corn is awesome too. Western. Ohio staple, fired corn is prefect. The potato casserole is forgettable. Too much celery and not enough flavor. A little cheese would have been nice. The house sirlion was very good. And the best item is really the fried Filet minion. Despite mushRooms the dish was great. Our came medium and still was not dry. The potato casserole was best forgotten. Lots of celery and onions, but lacked potato flavor. The restaurant has slightly outdated inside, by the also have seating outside if dark wooden isn’t your taste in restaurants.
