This place is a throw back to the way business’ should be run. Great food, great prices, and friendly staff.

Anti union join was treated great by the staff, where encouraged to put up some union stickers on the cooler glass. So we did. Owner came in took our stickers down and put up a trump 16 sticker up

This place is a local dive. The people who frequent it love it, but if you walk in there without a regular, you’ll have a room full of people staring at you.

Will NOT be going back! As a matter of fact, the health dept should shut them down! 2 dining rooms. The main one has an open view to the kitchen.(Which I love to see what’s happening in the kitchen!) I was totally appalled at what I saw. One of the cooks would get RAW bacon out of the cooler with her bare hands, separate each slice as she put it on the grill, then IF she wiped her hands off it was in her pants! Then this same cook, with their RAW bacon germs on her hands would pick up the bread and put it in the toaster, get it out of the toaster, butter it and put it on the plate! Omgosh! I also saw her pick up the finished plates and serve them to the people sitting at the counter! As for the food, my husband liked his fried eggs, bacon, hash browns. The toast was barely toasted! More like warmed bread. I had a bacon and cheese omelet with mushrooms. Very bland. Same toast/warmed bread. I am NOT a coffee snob by any means. As long as it is hot and strong, I’m good. After about a half of a cup, I asked to switch to iced tea. The coffee was hot but very weak. The iced tea wasn’t much better. I can say the waitress were very nice!

Wonderful breakfast spot! I highly recommend! We came here with a large group including kids. The food was good and the prices are great. But the best part was the service! The staff was so nice and accommodating! The pancakes are huge!

Pulling away completely satisfied! We walked in the left door and were a little confused. A local helped us out… that side is for big parties. So walk in the door on the right and you’ll see a clean diner with a fishing mural on the wall. We were the youngest patrons by about 15 years, which made husband feel good since its his 35th bday today. Most of the people knew each other and were obvious repeat diners… Usually a good sign. Our waitress was very friendly & as we ordered omelettes she listed the ingredients. She smiled as I changed my omelette order 3 times. Final choice– veggie omelette w/mushrooms + hot tea for me and western omelette + coffee for my husband. He said coffee was black and strong like it should be. Everything hit the spot all for $ 15. Oh yah, it’s Cash only.

Exactly what I was looking for. Just eight miles from downtown Toledo, the scenery changes from strip mall into rural pretty quickly. I was on my way to some parks and I wanted a good greasy spoon breakfast. Boom, there it was, right at the turnoff. This joint has a great location at the intersection of State Route 2(Jerusalem Road) and Curtice Road, the route which leads to Maumee Bay State Park. It was full of, presumably, locals and regulars, with nobody below age 45 except me. The main room is no frills – institutional floor tile, hunting and fishing motif, and table tops of the same white-with-gold-flecks formica that my grandmother used to have in her kitchen. That gave me a smile. There was a side room marked«5 or more only.» The one-page menu shows you the various combinations of eggs, meat, toast, and hash browns that you can get, plus french toast and pancakes, oatmeal and cold cereal. That’s it(what more do you want anyway?). I got a cheese and mushroom omelette and a side of bacon for $ 6.70(tax included). The service was a bit slow, but I observed a lot of frustration in the room from patrons and staff alike, so perhaps I caught them on a day when they were shortstaffed or something. I’m not sure if this turns into an actual tavern later in the day, but if you want some simple country breakfast on your way to a day hiking or playing at the beach, stop by Hy-Flash.
