Super duper! From the smell to the food, its all good. Great brisket, pulled pork looks shredded not pulled but is still good. Ribs are good but not great… I think they are st. Louis cut? They have cheesy meaty fries with your choice of meat… very nice. Everything comes sans sauce, but 2 sauces are available, hot and regular. Both are great. Overall… I love the place.

Glad to see this BBQ joint open. We stopped in on a motorcycle ride out to Savanna IL. It was just a random stop. I’m happy we did. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was perfect, I cant wait to come back!

This place is gross. The food is okay, but I’d rather make it myself. Also, I cannot stand how tacky the place is. I want to vomit every time I go by. Its decorated to hell. Also, the owners an ass. I refuse to go here.

I did a weekend camping trip in the area and was looking for a sit-down dinner for one of the nights. What a great find! I had the pulled pork sandwich with two sides. Pulled Pork Sandwich: The meat was juicy and tender. I used the original sauce and it was great. I would have liked to see a better bun. It was a simple hamburger bun. Overall I really liked the sandwich. Baked Beans: The baked beans were a different texture than I’m used to at BBQ places. These were more like a re-fried beans texture. But, I really liked that! They were full of flavor and meat bits. I really liked them! Fries: The fries were average, but good. Not much more to say. The interior is decorated with all kinds of old cooking, etc equipment. It was clean and fit the BBQ ambiance. The people were very friendly and checked up on how we were doing a couple of times. Bicycle Lanes and Parking: There were any bicycle lanes, but the area is a small town. I did not see any bicycle trails in the area either. There wasn’t any bicycle rack outside the restaurant. I WILL be returning the next time I’m in the area!

Went there for the first time. Service was good, food was mediocre and way overpriced for a brisket on hamburger bun the sweet potato fries were tasteless and reheated in a microwave.

We stopped by this place because of the reviews. I’m leaning mor towards 3 ½ stars. We ordered BBQ pulled pork, cheese burger, chicken strips, meaty cheese fries, onion rings. The BBQ sandwich was just okay, the burger was simply A-mazing, the chicken strips best we’ve ever had(super fresh, super crunchy. Wow), meaty cheese fries(honestly We didn’t like them with the exception of my wife, although I think she was just trying to be nice) and the onion rings were super awesome freshly battered and made. Their regular fries weren’t all that neither. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely will stop by again when in town. The place isn’t inviting from the outside but like I said I Unilocaled before and came in with confidence, inside they were trying I guess to give a little barn/country style; sort of cozy.

Good bbq at reasonable prices! The Jackass sandwich is great! Love the pulled pork. The onion rings are«in my humble opinion» the best I’ve ever had! Hand battered onion rings? Sweet mother of??? In Oregon, Illinois? Like I said, good BBQ, great onion rings, you should give it a shot!

Update 12÷6÷1411:11am Today is the last day– the place is closing for good:( Still the best sweet potato fries in the land. Dear owner if you do open up a place out west please let us know. I would love to visit! If you’re looking or hungry for some BBQ — consider this place. I chose the brisket sandwich, I found if to have a great smoky flavor to it and moist. I am used to strips of brisket and this one was chopped up. Just personal preference. The Wifey had pulled pork with the cole slaw — both were good. Jackass offers two types of sauces regular and spicy. I preferred their regular. The Spicy was not too hot so you don’t have to worry about tearing up from the heat. I am usually heavy on the sauce but was surprised the sandwiches didn’t need as much, the meat had a great taste to it. We each had regular sized onion rings and those were just okay. In case you are wondering about beverages they offer fountain Coke products — yeah!

I don’t know if this is the best BBQ Ive ever had, but right now I’m hard pressed to think of a better one. Jackass is really a small, unassuming little place that you could drive right by without thinking twice, if you even noticed it in the first place. That would be a mistake. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave us free samples when they found me and the Missus had never been there before. I’m not a huge brisket fan and was all set to get the pulled chicken, but the brisket was so moist, soft and smoky I had to switch it up. It was simply fantastic. The Missus had the pulled pork and it was delicious as well. They offer two sauces, regular and spicy. The spicy wasnt that spicy to me but offered a small kick. It had almost an Asian flavor to it. There was a spice in there I could quite pick out but it reminded me of hoisin. The regular was far superior to the spicy and can stand with any other sauce out there. It doesn’t seem like they did much to a regular sauce, but it had a nice touch of vinegar taste and was definitely better than most I’ve tried. The only complaint I have, and it’s really small, is that for 8.95 for a large sandwich, I wish it had a little more meat on it, but honestly it was worth the price as is. We wound up leaving with a pound of pork, which they sell to go, and a bottle of sauce. I’ve had BBQ all over the Chicago area, and in Texas and in Kansas City, and like I said before, I can’t think of a place better. I live 60 miles from this place and I will most likely be going back on a semi regular basis.

I heard Jackass BBQ was closing down May 1st but I can’t confirm this. Too bad, I enjoyed his BBQ a lot. :( Sorry, I was wrong. I drove by Jackass BBQ and they were still open! Great!

Had the prime rib dinner special. It was just okay. First time there so I want to try their BBQ and then report back. Smoked sweet potato and cole slaw are really good. Don’t write this place off

Great food, good service, atmosphere a little lacking, especially in this cold weather. Parking OK. Try it!

Pretty tasty … To be honest though, my favorite thing on the menu is the smoked sweet potato. Delish! The kids chicken strips are handmade and huge– so I’d recommend them if not into BBQ.

Yum!!! Not sure if they’re the new kid on the block, or we’ve just missed them everytime we’re down this way — but absolutely fabulous bbq! Stumbled across Jackass — am I allowed to say it?! ~ during the annual Fall fest parade festivities. The parade was just getting going, we just got into the area from a long night of camping and were starving. Have tried the little breakfast nook down the street the last time in the area, but that wasn’t going to cut it this time around for us. Once we were able to work our way down the street through the crowd, we found our noses greeted by some delicious smells coming from their truck out in front. Lured us in! My son ordered their brisket — now, I will say, I’m so not a fan of brisket. It’s usually too smoked, too beefy, or I can pull any other excuse on why not to like it — but this time around, it was delicious. Although there was add your own sauce on the side, it didn’t need much to add to the smoked flavor. Was so good, we took another home with us for later that night! Being a pulled pork fan myself, I ordered up the Chilled Pig. Pulled pork topped off with coleslaw — and it was yummy! They have some great coleslaw there — not too saucey, homemade and complimented the very tasty pork at the bottom of that sandwich. Tested out their potato salad as well — super crisp, fresh and crunchy. Really liked the very tiny celery bits in there. Their food really hit the spot — and for right under $ 20 — couldn’t beat it either! Next year, we’re going back for their ribs!

Soooooooo glad we turned around to chec this place out!!! From the cool décor and the haze of bbq smoke in the air loved it. Had the Cow vs. Pig sandwich which is half brisket half pulled pork. It was killer! Homemade sauces were also great! Go with the regular style sauce is my recommendation. If in the general area and love or even just like BBQ definitely definitely DEFINITELY stop by Jackass!

My friend and I were riding our motorcycles through town and we discovered this place by accident. Though the shack is quite rustic(which is a plus in my opinion), the food is just as good as the barbecue I’ve had at shacks throughout small towns in Atlanta, Kentucky and Missouri. If you like barbecue, be sure to check it out their brisket sandwich! The only thing that could be better is their fries.

For the price you won’t find better tasting or tender meat anywhere. It is all smoked in a big smoker so it gets that great taste throughout the meat. The sweet potato is my absolute favorite and they’re huge! Not able to eat in one meal, certainly can get two meals out of one! The chicken is very tender and has a nice crisp on the skin. The service is great, although if you’re getting the Jackass sandwich and lots of other folks are at the same time there can be a bit of a wait as they take a little longer to make. Otherwise, everything moves along pretty quickly. The sweet potato fries are great, too!

Serving the food in chicken feed pans is neat. I thought the french fries were very good, my brother liked their coleslaw. We both thought the meat had to much smoke flavor. The floor looked very dirty. Will not be going back.

Great service. Food is excellent. Although, the buns they use for their sandwiches could be a little heartier. It started to fall apart even before I took a a bite.
