Madison has some good chocolate places. My thoughtful co-worker brought me back this treat and I must say, more delicious chocolate from Madison. Cute little boxes and cute graphics with a guy chasing the chocolate burglar. Chocolate is very rich, but also very good. Delicious! Perfect treat.

I love the chocolate caper and I’m so glad they’re in Oregon. The new owners are very nice and have better hours than the previous owners had in the past(which were sporadic to say the least). Now I can get a good chocolate fix almost any time! The praline chocolate is melt in your mouth good. I just bought a couple milk chocolate bunnies there for Easter for only $ 5.99 each and good size. I would much rather give my kids some quality chocolate than load them up with chemical-laden stuff for not much less money. Now I should go to bed and stop thinking about their awesome chocolate before I bite a bunnies head off… :)

I’m not a gourmet or dessert snob or anything, but this is the best chocolate I’ve ever had. When Claude and Ellie(the previous owners) retired and sold the business, I was concerned that the quality or approach might suffer, but it’s still great stuff, and now they stay open most of the summer, as well as adding some baked goods to their menu. They haven’t perfected the animated, anti-establishment rants that Claude was known for, but they have time. The only downside is that they have ruined me for normal, cheap chocolate. It’s hard to go back to Hershey’s after tasting bliss…

Hands down the best chocolate I’ve ever had! They stick to what they know which is decadent, melty, praline chocolate which have the same consistency as truffles. Rich and smooth — so heavenly! Recently under new ownership, they are slowly beginning to experiment with other options such as chocolate dipped beer and wine gels with IPA, Stout, White Merlot and Reds, as well as peanut butter pralines! I’ve had the dark and milk peanut butter pralines and let me tell you, it’d warrants a drive from Madison for — it’s so good! The owners alluded to the possibility of a bakery sprouting from the shop soon! !

The shop is in a rather unassuming store front in the downtown area. You walk in and notice the medals that they have one for their chocolate hanging on the door handle. Second thing is the wonderful smell in the shop of high quality chocolate. The owners Claude and Ellen are wonderful people and were willing to talk about their chocolate as well as anything that was fun or interesting. Very warm people. We will definitely be going back! Oh yes, the most important part is the excellent chocolates! WOW! Their dark chocolate leaves such a wonderful taste in your mouth and it lingers making the enjoyment last longer.

This place looks like nothing… but it is everything! This is the store to go to if you JUSTNEEDCHOCOLATENOW. It’s an addiction, I know, but here’s the place to get that fix. Rich, carmelly chocolate that is fudgy and melty and all-together so intense that it takes me four servings to go through a single piece. The service is great, and you won’t want to leave, even if kitch/gnomes turns you off. Everyone knows this is the place, so make your orders for the holidays in October/November! Not being an addict, I could only give it four stars.

i LOVETHISPLACE. It’s small and it’s nothing fancy in décor but those chocolates are the best around! I’ve been to switzerland and I felt like I was back there again. The man that owes it with his wife is such a sweetheart, I could have talked to him all day if I didn’t have to get back to work. I can hardly wait to get back there for more, there’s nothing better than great service, greatttt chocolate and down to earth people. For superior chocolate their pricing isn’t that bad. Very reasonable for what you get.

Never got around to eating their chocolates. The store had Fruit Flies in December and the counter person had scary long filthy fingernails. Maybe they’re good maybe they’re not I’m never going to find out.

The Chocolate Caper has been a frequent stop for our chocolate fix for many years. Great chocolate and very nice people. They make the real stuff, so in the hot months, we have to go without. Nothing in their chocolate to keep it from melting, just the real deal.

Swiss pralines are The Chocolate Caper’s specialty. They’ve been a favorite of mine since I discovered them at the Dane County Farmers’ Market. A delicate blend of hazelnut or almond butter and pure dark, milk or white chocolate, they’re virtually guaranteed to transport you to melt-in-your-mouth chocolate heaven. If you’re fortunate enough to live near Oregon, Wis., you owe it to yourself to stop by and try a free sample. If that’s not an option, their Praline Assortment, which can be ordered by phone, is a great way to discover your favorites!
