Get Some Guns & Ammo

«Get Some» is an interesting place. I completely despise the name and hate the connotation it brings to the average joe gun owner but I understand the running joke that accompanies the phrase. My friend had been nagging me to go for a while but I just didn’t feel any desire to enter a store called «get some» because it felt like it would be a waste of time. Well, one day we hit just about every major gun store in Orem so we decided we would stop in at Get Some as well.
Initially, I was underwhelmed. It was a large-​ish gun store in size but felt very empty. Perhaps because of the sheer volume of the store the inventory looked smaller than it does in a cramped gun store like gunnies. No matter though because I was, almost immediately, greeted by an older employee who offered his help. I told him I was looking to get a rifle for some coyote hunting but was trying to decide between a few brands and models and would like to know what advice he could offer. I know I came across as a rookie but he did the one thing I can’t stand to get from gun guys, he merely told me the one gun he would buy. He didn’t talk pros and cons or details, he merely said, buy a Ruger American. Case closed. Now, granted I did end up buying Ruger, I wasn’t there to have a gun thrown at me, I wanted advice and a conversation. I wanted to learn about guns, not just buy whatever Larry from Get Some threw at me. So I thanked him and walked around the store a bit more and struck up a conversation with a younger employee. Perhaps it was because he was younger and could relate better but this guy was the exact opposite of the first employee. He talked to me for a good 15 minutes about rifles and coyote hunting and in the end gave me some recommendations but not once told me to «buy this.»
He also happened to catch a crappy mount job that Gunnies had performed on my friends gun. I wish I had this guy’s name so I could recommend him.
My overall experience at Get Some was surprisingly pleasant. I got great advice and felt like the employees were knowledgable and honest. I also really liked that they had a few racks of guns set out where people can take a look at them without having to call over an employee. It just made my trip quicker and more pain free. In the end, Get Some may not be a place I love or a place that you will love, but it is definitely worth a shot.

Extremely poor customer service. I purchased a couple Guns there and their customer service is terrible. All they care about is selling you a gun and will tell you anything to sell you a gun. I would never recommend purchasing anything there.

I had bought a Springfield XDM a month ago from Get Some and negotiated a discount to get them to match the price of another gun store. I went in today to buy another gun but this time the gray haired guy with the pony tail and beard helped me. I tried to get him to match price and he said go to the other store and buy it. Then he hesitated, did some research, told me another store offered it for $ 20 more than I was asking then he turned his back on me. I walked out feeling disrespected.

My buddy and I decided we needed to have some bro time at the range while I was in town on a visit. First off, this place was huge by L. A standards. We walked in and were immediately surrounded by the most amazing collection of firearms I have ever seen outside of a museum. I was really surprised to see the assortment of different firearms and firearm accessories available in the state of Utah. After a quick tour of the shop we made our way over to the rental counter where we met the owner and one of his range masters. Both super nice and super helpful guys, they helped us with paperwork and all our stupid questions without blinking an eye. The range was nice and clean, well maintained and after we were done prices were also really good. Overall a top notch range and superstore and definitely a must on my list next time I am in town to visit my brother, Aloha

What a great buying experience! My wife was with me and very uneasy about the whole gun purchasing situation. All of the Gentleman at get some were super nice and made my lady feel at ease about everything. I purchased my gun at $ 30 cheaper than the local big box gun stores and even though I had to drive from Farmington to Orem to get the specific piece I was searching for it was well worth the drive. I broke in the new gun on the range and my wife was still uneasy about guns and left the range and the kind gentleman behind the counter continued to speak with her about gun safety and to not be afraid. I bought another box of ammo to get comfortable with the gun and my wife was able to be around the gun through the whole second box of ammo. Thanks guys for making it a smooth transaction for my first gun purchase and making my gal feel at ease about the purchase.

I have to give the place for starts for making my girlfriend’s first experience so great. they gave her a lot of extra tops, and one guy even let us use his personal .22 to shoot (in addition to what we rented). As we wrapped up they gave her a free t-​shirt and let her hold various guns for pictures.
It wasn’t a busy time, but they all went above and beyond and she is into shooting now… What more could I ask for? She is excited to go back.

What I hate most about gun shops is the air of superiority the employees usually have (you’re stupid because you’re not as much of a gun expert as me etc.). Get Some has a great staff that has never acted that way with me and I really appreciate that. Gun prices are listed well below MSRP so you don’t have to do a ton of haggling. Selection is also extremely good compared to many other shops.
The range is very reasonable with prices. You can shoot a variety of their range guns or bring your own. Its a great place for people new to shooting to get familiar with shooting because they maintain a professional safe environment that often is missing at ranges.

Great place for target practice. Nice range and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

This place is legit. Were here last weekend with four buddies, all of us from California so we don’t have access to machine guns and other kick ass guns like Get Some Guns rents to the public. We shot the MP5 and AK47, fully auto, and then fired 500 rounds out of various .223 assault rifles. Prices are extremely reasonable and if you are looking to buy a gun they had a ton.
