I like what I lovingly refer to as «hole in the wall» places. Burl Bill’s definitely fits the ticket for me. It’s a small shop along Hwy. 101, offering wood carvings in all shapes and sizes. I was looking for a small wood bear as a companion to another larger bear I bought several years ago when traveling through Felton, CA. The selection here is limited, but the quality is great. The owner is friendly and likes to share stories with his customers, which makes for a nice shopping experience. Prices are reasonable in comparison to similar businesses. I found my bear, named him Orick and brought him home. He now sits next to my other bear, Felton. They have become fast friends. Glad I stopped by Burl Bill’s!

I received a gift of a lovely piece of woodwork from here today and couldn’t be happier. This owner is clearly an artist an I wish him the best ! Go see Burl Bill and find something lovely to remember your trip to these amazing CA Redwoods. The owner is personable and funny and worth a stop. Hidden treasures !

Burl Bill’s is a small shop that offers wood worked items sale along the 101. Unlike a lot of other shops Burl Bill’s does not finish the majority of the pieces offering that to the customer’s. Bill was a very friendly man and was willing to put some items aside as my friend and I obtained cash to buy some boxes — they only accept cash and checks. The selection is not as vast as other shops, but the quality was marvelous. Burl Bill’s is the only shop that we saw that offered long, narrow boxes able to store pens. Most of the other shops had hidden compartments which make it hard to put a pen inside. Burl Bill’s offered boxes that could do that. Parking is very limited, the shop slightly sparse, but it was very friendly and great quality.
