This was the worst experience ever. I can’t believe this place is even surviving in Orinda. My friend had gone into the salon a few days ago to make a reservation for two foot massages for today. The woman at the salon barely spoke English so my friend helped her write in our names and the time we wanted in her appointment book. When we got there today, the door was locked so we rang the doorbell. When the lady came to the door, she started screaming at us and saying something we couldn’t understand and then shut the door on us. My friend kept telling her we had appointments but she just screamed back at us. We rang the doorbell again but she never came back. I say stay away! It was creepy and creepy that the door was locked in the middle of the day. Awful experience!

I agree with the negative reviews 1) feels seedy 2) bad fragrance/odor 3) massage therapist did not seem well trained and was not thorough 4) actually had one massage therapist start and had another one finish! 5) ding dong of door interfered with relaxation Generally not a good experience — no way this place stays around.

There are few reviews so it was tough to know what to expect. I’ve seen the sign for massage out front many times, so I thought I’d give it a try as my back/neck was aching. Sadly, this was one of the biggest disappointments and waste of money, and it has left a terrible taste in my mouth. First, the door was locked… are they hiding something? Second, the place was empty and just two ladies working. They immediately asked me to for payment up front. After I get settled in my room, the lady put a towel on my back and did some really gentle rubs — kept on asking, is that too hard? In reality, she barely touched me. After 10 minutes of trying of pushing down on my back, I finally asked her to use oil and work out the knots. I don’t think she knew what she was doing. Bottom line, when my 30 minutes for $ 40 ended, I was actually relieved that I could get out of there without getting injured. P. S. Btw, as I was leaving, she says to me «no tips»? I gave her a tip just to save face for her as it really was the worst massage experience I’ve ever had. The main reason why I’m sharing this with people is because I think people in this area deserve better.

I tried a full body massage, I’ve had better that’s all. The foot massage area looked really comfy.

This spa has really helped my feet. Their $ 35 one hour foot message is a real bargain. They start with a 15 minute foot soaking while they message your head, face, shoulders, arms and back. Then they work on your feet using reflexology. They give you a very deep and penetrating message. The staff is from China and their English is not very proficient. However, the message is very relaxing. My feet are always much improved for days following the sessions. The décor is somewhat dated but the space is clean and pleasant. I am very pleased to have this excellent service near me. The two women who have worked on me are very nice and have responded to my requests to be gentle when it is needed.

My favorite pastime is playing golf. neck and back injuries prevented that joy in my life. Two one hour sessions using the deep tissue method of massage has made a world of difference in lessening my pain, but more importantly is that I now play golf again pain free. Deep tissue may not be for everyone, but for me I find it relaxing and envigorating. Thanks Wonderful Spa

Is it possible to give less than a one-star rating? «Wonderful» it ain’t. I’m pretty easy-going so you have to work hard at getting a one-star rating from me. 6REASONSWHYYOUSHOULDFASTANDRUNFARAWAYFROMTHISPLACE: 1.) «Massage therapist» used her elbow so hard on my back that she just about popped a vertabrae out of alignment. Horrible touch and doesn’t know what the @$#%^&*! she was doing. My six year old would have done a better job with one hand and his Nintendo DS in the other. 2.) Left the room four times at five minutes each time for unexplained reasons … Kept saying«sorry.» 3.) Tired and run-down atmosphere. 4.) Nothing like their advertisement … What a joke. The place was empty and the«massage therapist» was the only one in there. 5.) Not even close to relaxing … Right next to a restaurant so all you hear is the clanking and clashing of pots and pans. Also, their phone was on a VERYLOUD ring setting and there was a VERYLOUD«tick tock» clock within the massage room. Thought a bomb was going to go off. 6.) I have nothing again Asian«house/dance music» but not appropriate for a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere. But then again, who said I was at a «spa» anyway? I wanted two-hour massage and was willing to pay for it. However, I got up and left after one-hour because of the … well, the above reasons. I’m sure I can find plenty of great massage therapists out there willing to take my money. Ugh!

If I could give this place a negative 5 stars, I would. I came in for a body massage because my neck and shoulders were sore, and now I can add an aching spine to that list. The woman I got repeatedly missed the muscles on my back, and many times began digging her elbow into my spine. She walked out in the middle of the massage twice to talk to people outside. Upon leaving, I looked for some sort of license or SOMETHING that signifies that she was trained to give a massage and I only saw a license for 3 people, none of which were her. Great. I just got a horrible massage from the receptionist. I don’t know if that’s against the law or not, but it should be.
