Underrated pizza… Best option in Orinda Village… only has pizza by the slice for lunch which I have never understood but …

We got the pesto chicken pizza. Loved the hole-in-the-wall feel of the restaurant and everyone was very friendly. Pizza was delicious and reminded me of the style I grew up eating. Yum.

spent $ 28 for a large Pizza. Tough crust, very limited topping, ended up tossing most of the pizza out. Would for sure not return to Zamboni’s

I’ve been eating at Zambonies Pizza for several years. It is my favorite pizza place of all time. It’s a small place but the owner is really nice and the pizza is great. My favorites are the garlic chips, vegy and pepperoni pineapple. Although all their pizza is delicious.

Yummy pizza, informal dining, nice owner treats you right. It’s a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner, but mostly takeout since it’s a tiny dining area. At lunch you can get slices or whole pies. Fresh salads, reasonable prices, fast delivery.

With all the bad reviews I was half expecting the pizza to be something you would get at a theme park or a bad frozen pizza, but we decided to chance it anyway. My wife and I found the pizza to be quite good. Yes it is a little more expensive than a pizza chain but not much. We will definitely be coming back.

Delicious Calzone! The crust is amazing, the fillings are wonderful, and the owner is charming and kind. Ben Wyatt would approve.

Second time ordering pizza from here and we had a great experience. We ordered two extra large pizzas(one veggie and one mushroom) and some salads for our family gathering. Everyone enjoyed!

Finally a place to get a slice! Well, sort of a slice? I stopped by Zamboni’s recently, because from Unilocal and others, I had heard that they offered slices of pizza as part of their lunch menu. Since I moved to California from New York, I haven’t really been able to find many pizza places that offer slices of pizza. I ordered a couple of slice of pepperoni — I was expecting nice large slices of pizza, instead I was given what looked like a quarter of a larger pizza that had already been sliced. So, instead of one large slice, I ended up with three small ones. The pizza was okay — have had better — but it was nice to just have a couple slices of pizza without having to order the whole pie!

I rarely write reviews unless something is spectacular or really bad. That said, I really wanted to like Zamboni’s. Local pizza, near the Bart station on my way home from work, I really wanted it would work out. Unfortunately, it did not. I stopped in and bought a large pizza. Felt that $ 22 for a large is a bit on the steep side. When I took the pizza home, it was just horrible. My wife, kids and I all agreed it was the worst pizza we’ve ever had. The crust was flavorless, bland and hard throughout. The sauce had no flavor whatsoever and the toppings tasted old and not fresh at all. There was nothing redeeming about this pizza. It’s the first pizza I’ve ever bought were we couldn’t even finish more than a slice.

It seems like most of the negative reviews are from customers that ordered pre-made single slices. I cannot comment on the individual slices, but the made to order pizza is great. They also offer local delivery! The only reason I give this place 4 out of 5 stars is because I feel the prices are a little on the high side. Sure, I can save a couple of bucks on a pizza, but I’d have to drive to Lafayette or Moraga.

Stopped in on a saturday afternoon. $ 5 for a big combo slice. Pizza was not great but it was also not nearly as bad as others on here have said. It is a little different somehow but I can not put my finger on it. I would go back.

Terrible pizza. Stale and bland. Crust was hard as cardboard. I like to help small businesses, but, this was just awful food. It was truly inedible.

We love Zamboni’s. Our family has enjoyed many a pizza from this establishment; all to our delight. As an added bonus, they deliver. So we can enjoy it without leaving the comfort of our home.

Many Unilocal reviewers seem to get a thrill out of tearing down small businesses. I like Zamboni’s, my family likes Zamboni’s. And I have absolutely no affiiation with the business except I have been going there for many years. A Large with 3 ingredients is $ 21.50. Yes, that is more than Pizza Hut, Safeway or Papa Murphys. But seriously, those pizzas are only when you are desperate or feeding a bunch of teenagers. The price is about what you would pay at Patxis in Lafayette or Bonfire in Orinda, which I would consider equivalent pizza quality. I’d rather pay $ 4 more for a good quality ingredients than $ 17 for ingredients from a giant plastic bag delivered via refrigerated truck. The good — fresh, made daily sauce. Cheese without fillers or additives(which makes it oilier but in a delicious way). Nice crust. Fresh ingredients in reasonable quantity The not good — this is not a dine in place generally speaking, the seating is very bare bones and the storefront is fairly tight. Parking — street front and copious parking across the street in the Safeway lot. Starbucks next door And I am a bit appalled by the person who made the comment about Asians making the pizza. I have been going here for over 14 years and the original owner was there tonight and he is decidedly NOT Asian. There were two Asian people working(delivery person and woman waitressing) and they may have purchased Zambonis, but I would imagine the original owner would not be there working hard on a Holiday Monday if he was no longer the owner. But regardless of who is the owner — what kind of person would not eat pizza from a place because Asians worked there. Sheesh is this really 2013? It is solid, dependable pizza and my family still likes it.

Zamboni’s is a great family-style restaurant that makes a great pie if you know what to order. For lunch, their calzones and and pizza sandwiches are affordable and excellent. For a snack, I love their garlic chips. And for dinner I am a fan of the pies — they have a lot of choices for toppings — I get stuff like sun dried tomatoes, zuchini or jalapeños on my pizza. I will quickly note that their pizza by the slice during the day does a huge disservice to them. Definitely not as good as some of their other offerings.

5 starts to help bring up the average. The owner is a nice and they consistently don’t f’k up my order. I’ve been eating pizza in NY for years. Everyone knows the secret is the water used for the dough. You’re not going to get that here. This is fine, it’ll do. Its pizza, who gives a shit. Its a hell of a lot better than the crap they serve at Village Pizza, or whatever that godforsaken place is called.
