This Daycare is not in the best part of town, but the Colombian women who run it are highly trained and certified. The doors are securely locked, and there is a playground out back. If you are NOT comfortable leaving your child with a woman who speaks broken English, this place isn’t for you. I just use it as an opportunity to practice my Spanish, and Maria and Patricia(another of the aides) have a lot of fun doing it! I get up with Portuguese babysitters until I was 8 or so, and I think it is excellent to be exposed to Enlgish and Spanish at such a young age. They participate in 4C and some form of government assisted feeding programs for older children(don’t know the details of how this works because I am in neither program). Maria caters to low income families and children with disabilities. My husband and I just happen to like her, being neither the one nor having a child with the other. They offer 24⁄7 care, though weeknights and weekends cost extra(I believe $ 30 per). It is only $ 70/week, best rate on this side of town. They are a little disorganized. I label all of Lucy’s items, and when I pick her up I make sure I have everything back! Lucy gets a little grungy during physically time to including changes of socks and clothes are a must! Don’t discount this place based on appearance. They offer the best flexibility I have EVER found for the price, and the staff is truly amazing. Maria has worked and been certified in all aspects of Childcare for 15 years, but only opened her own business, StepByStep, 3 months ago. Best qualification ever? 11 month old Lucy is HAPPY to go into Maria’s arms when we drop her off, and is always happy on pickup! Highly recommended. Tell Maria Jamie Banta(Lucy’smom) sent you!
