ACO Rent A Car

This place is terrible. I can’t believe I didn’t read the reviews below like everyone else. Steer clear and like everyone else said, there are so many other rental car places to choose from. There are hidden fees and scratches and the price doubled when I got there. There was even a customer who yelled and screamed and didn’t rent a car and was asked to be brought back to the airport because they are insane. Unluckily, I was checking out at this point. Never again from here.

When you return the car they will make you pay DOUBLE because of hidden fees. Unilocal needs to make 0 stars an option, because of this company.

My wife set up this rental when a truck repair went bad. The rate was good and I only needed it to get to work. When I get there I am told I am only allowed 100 miles a day, when I stated that the web site said unlimited I was told that was not her fault. Since I was local I have limited miles, I have a 120 mile round trip.
Finally, I said I will take the car, the girl at the counter then tells me she will not rent me a car. I guess I protested to much about them not honoring what is on their site. My wife came and picked me up and I call off from work.
Do not rent from this group, never had an experience like this place

This place is absolutely horrible. We are stranded now because of miscommunication and the customer service is not present. I’m sad I could I’ve watched 3 people go back to the airport, because they suck! !!! I would never recommend this sham of a business

I rented a car with them and unfortunately I deer hit the car they were not accommodation and are very unprofessional no one asked me if I was ok this could not be forseen at all. It wasn’t my negligence from the front desk rep to the threatening emails it has been a nightmare I can’t believe I didn’t read reviews. They charge 600 dollar deposit regardless. They are rude unprofessional and outright disgusting company. Insurance was waiting on paperwork which took time and all they do is harass me all the time the car was totaled and on top of that the front desk rep asked me why I didn’t bring her the car? Is she kidding me then she asked of a reindeer hit me what in the world? The gm and the clerk of operations are both rude and just uneducated with customer service skills. Horrible experience stay away far away they will be shut down before u can blink twice I wish I could put no stars

Just like others have said, the policies at this rental company are the worst. The front desk wants physical proof of your car insurance. You cannot show them an electronic copy on your phone. They claim that they cannot receive email. They will not call a verification number. And of course, taking their insurance will almost double the cost of your rental. Their price seemed good when I booked, but by the time I arrived, another company had a similar car for 30% less, and the other company thought my electronic proof of insurance was just fine.
I will never book with ACO again.

STAY AWAY! Wow do I feel like a fool for not checking reviews before booking with this SCAM of a company. Yes, all the other negative reviews are completely accurate… I’m an insurance agent, so I know that I can use my own insurance and not buy through a rental agency.
First, we get to the hole in the wall place and I go to check in. My reservation was from 8pm tonight to 8pm next Wednesday night. The girl asks what time my flight leaves on Wednesday… I told her 6:50 but I put down 8 just in case, since I’m paying for a full day regardless and don’t want to be charged late fees. She looks at me like I’m doing something wrong and says we recommend getting to the airport 2 hours ahead of time, so I’m going to put down 4:50…um, no… I’m pretty sure I decide when I want to get to the airport and drop my car off since I’m paying for it?
Then she asks if I’m purchasing basic insurance or «premium»…assuming she meant liability only v. Comp/​collision, but in either case I politely declined and told her I had my own insurance coverage. She snaps back that they accept Geico, Progressive, State Farm and if I’m not insured with any of those, they won’t accept it. I told her that NOWHERE in my rental confirmation email did it say that. She said all documentation shows that. Unfortunately, my phone died and I couldn’t go into it to prove her wrong. I asked to speak to a manager — wouldn’t you know it, she was the manager. Interesting.
I told them to take me back to the airport. I told my husband that thy obviously bank on people getting frustrated and paying for the insurance, which unfortunately in the other reviews I saw most did. I went back to the airport and was able to get another car I had previously booked that was $ 3 more per week and no hassle. I plan on reporting this company to far more than just Unilocal.

Our car was clean. We discovered no scratches or dents during our «pre-​flight» inspection. The people at the desk at the desk at MCO were busy but still personable. No insurance pressure. Leaving the airport was a breeze. We turned the car in at the West Palm Beach airport. The people there were also very good. All in all, a good experience. We’ve used them before and will use them again.

***DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY*** Everything previous reviewers posted is TRUE! I had the same experience as everyone else. I originally reserved online for a compact car for one week at 126.00 $ I should have known it was too good to be true. When we arrived I presented my insurance card and was told they only take geico or state farm as acceptable insurance and that I would have to take their insurance at $ 27.00 a day!!! Then with taxes and fees, my rental which was confirmed in my email as $ 141.00, now came to $ 309.00!!! The young girl at the counter was extremely flippant and rude. I told the shuttle driver to kindly take us back to the airport and while on the way, I reserved through hotwire and was able to get a car at Hertz at MCO and it cost me $ 157.00 and they upgraded me for no charge and took my insurance… NEVER RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS!

Worst experience ever!
I rented a car from ACO at Orlando International Airport (MCO) for 4 days recently. I purchased the LDW as well. I picked up the car at 9:44 AM on the first day. On the agreement the return time was specified as 10:40 AM. When I returned it on the last day, I entered the store at 10:40 AM. By the time the employee (named Emilie Rodriguez) was done processing the return, the time was 10:44 AM, and she claimed this made it a «late return». Even though I was there on time, and returned the car on time, she insisted that I had returned it late, and proceeded to charge me for an extra hour AND a full day of the LDW, a total charge of $ 33. When I refused to pay the extra charge with my credit card, she took the money out of my deposit (since I used a debit card, they take $ 100 deposit from your card). This charge is unacceptable and frankly nothing short of robbery. Furthermore, when I tried to dispute the charge, she was extremely rude, and when I started writing my feedback on the provided paper, the employee tried forcibly taking the paper away from me when she noticed I was writing a poor review.

Do not go there! They do not accept your insurance even with proof and want to charge $ 600 insurance for the week. Lobby full of people walking away from counter and going back to reputible major rental car companies. Bait & Switch. Hidden fees. Everyone told You didnt read the info.

I would give this place zero stars but I will give them one because they were nice enough to drive my girlfriend and I back to the airport. There are tons of hidden fees $ 25 to return a car early, $ 50 a day in insurance. If you have insurance and you want to use that please provide a paper copy of your policy they will not print it out for you, «but the printer is right there in front of you». This place made it so that we had less money to use on our vacation. Lesson learned use of the major car rental places at the airport the cost far out weighs the headaches.

HORRIBLE!!! Used them once and never again!!!
I reserved the rental car for two days in Orlando for $ 20 and thought it was too good to be true and I was right. When I arrived at the counter I was asked which insurance I would like to purchase. I politely declined saying I was already covered under my own insurance. The lady at the rental counter asked me the name of the insurance company and to produce a printed statement proving what I said was true. I pulled out my phone and produced my insurance, but the lady said she could not accept this since it has to be a printed out statement! I said okay… there’s a printer right here can I email it to myself or to you to be printed here. She said she could not print a piece of paper for me. I was clearly being scammed, and had no choice but to pay for their insurance which was $ 50!!! That’s more than double of what I paid to reserve the car.
Aside from being pressured into getting their ridiculous insurance they did not make a note of the scratches on the car before I picked it up. Thank goodness I checked the car before leaving the lot, and told them about the scratches. I am sure I would have been charged for damage to the car.
Point is… DON’T RENT FROM ACO! There are plenty other respectable rental companies out there. Steer clear from this one.

The service and policies of this rental agency are deplorable. First, I called to be picked up at the airport, and waited for 20 minutes in the blistering Florida heat. When I was finally picked up, we drove 9/​10ths of the way to the rental location (which is at least a 10 minute drive from the terminal), only to do a U-​turn when the driver found out another person wanted to be picked up from the airport.
When I finally arrived at the rental counter, I was forced to buy insurance because I did not have a paper copy, only an electronic copy. These guys clearly did not realize that this is 2015. Anyway, the insurance was double the rate of the actual rental.
Yes, they are cheap on paper, but they sure find ways to nickel and dime you on money and time. Do not rent from them, unless you are prepared to deal with that.

The immense and intentional /​deliberate act of misleading is unconscionable! It is a shock that they haven’t been sued for callous false advertising.
You can expect any quote or reservation to be at least three times that at the register. The way that they do business is appalling!
Steer away and rent a car from a reputable company!

I should have read the reviews! Agree 100% with the previous reviews that the company hides costs and all sorts of hidden rules that make the process a headache from beginning to end. Spend the extra $ 50 or 100 to rent from a reputable company.
If you don’t carry insurance from their list of 5 companies you have to put $ 600 deposit on your credit card.
We filled up our car but the gauge wouldn’t indicate full. Good thing we left extra time; they made us go back to the gas station and prove it.
Unbelievable.

Please help report the inaccuracy price quote on Kayak if you have rented from here and save other people the headache and disappointment of renting from this place…
Misleading on kayak… was told it would be $ ⁶⁰⁄₃ days but with all the additional fees it was an extra $ 30 just for using my own car insurance as coverage instead of their ridiculous $ 23/​day insurance… also insurance must be one of their «approved» companies which I know includes geico and I think Allstate… so ridiculous… oh and there was a mandatory $ 600 security deposit placed on my credit card as well… car was fine but there was gum stuck on the floor… oh and if you return the car EARLY there is a $ 20 – 25 fee… oh and during off hours (before 7 am or after 10 pm) that’s an extra $ 20 – 25 as well.
The people who checked in at the same time as us also booked on kayak as I overheard… however they did not have the right insurance carrier or coverage and left in an unresolved huff from unhelpful staff… I guess what can they do about the companies crummy policies

I travel a lot and always try to find the best deal. I typically use kayak and never have an issue. ACO rental was the exception to that.
First sign that this was not gonna go well was when the shuttle driver from the cruise line, who worked in Orlando for over 20 years, had never heard of them. I shrugged that off as we were gonna take ACO’s airport shuttle. When we got back to the airport I called the number for the shuttle and surprisingly the shuttle came quickly. Second sign was the shuttle driver was not very friendly and seemed to not care if we were customers or not. Last sign was when we pulled up to the building and realize ACO seemed to be a second chance purchase or lease company and there were no other renters there.
When I approached the counter I was greeted by a young lady who also seemed unconcerned with our presence. She wasn’t necessarily rude but she definitely wasn’t nice or attempted to be interested in providing good customer service. She advised me of the 600.00 hold they would put on my credit card. I said «wow 600.00» and she replied nonchalantly, yes. I have never paid that much on a rental deposit for using a major credit card. I finally got the car and went over with a fine tooth comb to make sure I would not be charged for damaged I did not do.
The car itself was very clean and ranked with some of the big boys. Our return went smooth but the overall service was very poor and ACO has a long way to catch up with other rental car companies. I will not rent from them again.

TIP: FOR ANYONE NEEDING TO RENT/​RETURN AN ACO CAR DURING OFF HOURS, DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Unreliable.
Renting the car when we arrived to ACO was no problem — the shuttle took long after calling the number (but that wasn’t a big deal), friendly service, thorough explanation of the contract and fast service.
The problem was upon dropping the car back off to the company. My party and I had a returning flight home at 6 AM, so we would’ve had to return the car at 4AM in the morning. They charged us $ 25 to have someone come in early to check us out the day of, and guess what– NO ONE SHOWED UP. We called all of their lines, not one even had an operating answering machine. What a lack of professionalism.
We couldn’t afford to leave our flight, so we ended up calling a taxi service to drop us off to the airport. We left the keys in the locked car (they didnt even have a drop off box) and left a note at their doorstep (we slipped it through the crack).
UPDATE: The one star on this review is for the call we received at 5:30 am, apologizing for the delay and agreeing to refund us the $ 25 opening service fee. But either way, if we were to wait until 5:30 am, we would have missed our flight back home. Will not be returning nor condoning this place to anyone else. Heed this warning, Unilocalers. It’ll save you some time, money and anger if you do.

Worst service ever!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We waited 45 min to be picked up… they only have one shuttle. When we finally got to the counter we were told we could not use a Master Card that is also a debit card… WHAT? There are so many more reputable companies out there… don’t be fooled by a cheap «deal»…You get what you pay for.
As a follow up we called SIXT at 1−800-Sixt-car and had great service. They have 4 shuttles running at all times… we had less than a 5 min wait, plus they provided ice water when they picked us up. OH YEA… they accepted our Master card! It was a much better way to start our vacation!
