Unfortunately(and as I’m sure at least some Unilocalers now know), Blank Space has closed. It really is too bad — I was here only a handful(maybe 3?) times, but I always had fun here. Blank Space’s beer selection was very impressive; I had a number of beers at BS that I’d previously never heard of or tried until doing so here. I really enjoyed the atmosphere(as some other Unilocalers have pointed out, BS hosted a variety of events, including art displays and live music) and each of my visits had a different charm to them. At some places, it is okay to expect the norm and to not expect a differentiation from visit-to-visit but, to me, this isn’t one of them. The 2nd time I was here, it was on Cinco de Mayo and for a few beers with some friends after the Kentucky Derby had ended. I can’t remember the exact names of the beers I tried, but all of them were great. Fellow Unilocaler Chris R. also enjoyed this place very much and, as far as I can tell, became friendly with some of the Blank Space staff — and maybe the owner? — on a by-name basis. I believe that he said his favorite beer or one of them was available here, and maybe that is what he was drinking that night. I was told a few days prior to this visit that Blank Space might have the Rogue Voodoo Doughnut beer here; unfortunately, it didn’t(the last bottle of it was sold a day or two prior), but that’s okay. They had an empty bottle of it and I was lucky enough to taste maybe the last drop of beer at the bottom and get a whiff of its amazing aroma. I also was fortunate enough to make it over to Blank Space’s «farewell» party earlier this month. I met some nice people and had a good time, though I stayed for maybe only an hour. Looking back at things, I wish I’d come here a little bit more often. It really was a cool place.

This place is fun and eclectic. The craft beer selection is very good and the art work is a pleasure. It is happening but usually quiet enough to hold a conversation. You should definitely check it out sometime.

We love Blank Space & Dave, the owner! I’m the photographer for a local burlesque troupe( if you’re curious) and we have had quite a few shows here. Dave makes everything so easy, and is great to work with if you’re planning an event. He’s super flexible and always gets really into whatever crazy thing we’re doing. The beer selection is amazing, and a group of my friends love to come chill here even when we’re not planning a show. The atmosphere is just so relaxed, and the music is always great. Dave even lets us bring out own food in — we’ve had some fun nights with bread, cheese, and a LOT of beer! Definitely check it out if you’re looking for something different.

I was walking by this place on my walk from Lake Eola to Downtown. It looks like a coffee shop from the outside with writing on the glass walls. Decided to cross the threshold & check it out. There was amazing artwork on the wall. So creative & a variety of different artists. The owner told me one exhibit came from Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota. I thought that was so cool! They had a band setting up & a ton of original brews. The owner was very friendly as well as the bartender. I would definitely come back here on my next trip Downtown. :)

This is such a tight lounge. Came here multiple times on a Friday and this corner lounge on Rosalind/Central Ave is where it’s at. Before heading out anywhere I love stopping here for a drink or listening to whatever the DJ plays this night. Blank Space is so random you never know what you will bump into here. One time I came when a musician was playing a saxophone! Where else can you find this in downtown? A huge plus is the drinks are strong and the bartenders are very nice about taking request. They are not sloppy like most bartenders in DT that are rushing like bam bam boom here is your watery kool aid oh no I mean long island. Um so yeah I recommend this place for those in the hopes of a good time. =] Another thing that draws me into this place is the atmosphere. I’m a sucker for dope décor and they always have a wall up of local artist work. One time they had a wall up of these painting with gorgeous peacocks. My eyes soaked up the artwork like my liver soaked up the strong martini. They have various events throughout the month so check them out for a laid back chilled night.

Love this place! Where else do you find unique beers in a laid back location, away from the 18 yr old crowd these days? So glad we found Blank Space! We’re having a baby shower here next Saturday. I’ll provide more feedback then. It’s the perfect place for a different venue with flexibility to do you own thing. Thanks Dave!

So, after the Elite Unilocal event at Urban Rethink I went here with a friend. What did we experience here? Art. Music, perhaps spoken word. A real record player with REAL music playing.. . I was welcomed with the Police playing and was thrilled to see MJ’s Thriller album as well. The décor reminds me of what one might see in «Breakfast at Tiffanys» even though I have not seen the entire movie *I know, I need to finish it*. I found that this is really a prime downtown corner location to see what’s going on.. .if you are into people watching. So, the bar is fun. Dave is free entertainment really. Or should I say, we were Dave’s entertainment. Apparently Jeff O. has a body double walking around and I struck up a convo with this dude who played it off for a while.. . He probably kept saying to himself, «why is this chick calling me Jeff?» and then finally confessed that he is in fact, not Jeff O. the Unilocaler, but is Spencer. Oops.. . So now that we had this cleared up, Dave explained this entire Unilocal thing to Spencer – how Unilocal is so much more than an app, how it’s really a subculture and then he told us about some of the Unilocalers that drop in from time to time. With Spencer’s Unilocal education now complete, we thought we should celebrate madly, and proceeded to owl and plank at Blank Space. See photos 12 – 15 So, the point is, If you’re looking for a more sophisticated spot to relax, chat, chill, drink, people watch, meet new friends, plank or owl in downtown Orlando,.. . Blank Space is your spot.

Interesting if nothing else, so I’ll have to try this place again… It was a long night so all I remember is no liquor, it’s about 3 or 4 blocks from Orange ave on the other side of Rosalind, and it smelled weird. Crowd was very thin, but there was some sort of finger food buffet laid out that I didn’t try but it looked pretty comprehensive. I think this place is owned by the same person as NV, because they had the exact same crowd(literally, the same people), and the same lame house/jazz/lounge mix being played by the dj. Call me imaginative but the music made me feel like I was in a part of a heist film where they play quiet upbeat music in the background while the team is doing something glamorous, like stealing things at a cocktail party haha. The art on display at that time was kind of bad :(I’ll try it again though, since it’s gotten all positive reviews!

This place has a lot of potential. It’s in a great location and is pretty spacious. The guy runnin the show was spinning some nice jazzy stuff the first night I went and set a good mood for the place. The beer list is pretty good. They have Tripel Karmeliet which I was very happy to see, but no sours :( This would definitely be a good place to have an event/gathering/get-together. If you haven’t checked em out yet, go see what it’s about. You might like it.

I’ve been to Blank Space twice this week. Both nights the music and atmosphere were lively. There was a mix of DJ’s and a live band. One night there was an artist in the corner working on a painting as we watched the band. They have a delightful beer selection. The owner is quite friendly and willing to share his knowledge. Blank Space is a sort of fish bowl so you are able to relax inside while still watching people passing by outside. 4 stars for sure!

Blank Space is a game changer for downtown Orlando! With it’s recent overhaul, it is now an art gallery and live music venue with a large craft beer selection that will continue to expand it’s offerings. It is NON-smoking! A huge feat for a downtown bar! The bar owner, Dave, is a top shelf bartender with charm, wit and an open mind. He will tell you about the beer and tell you how to appreciate it. He’ll let you play DJ and pick what the house music will be, or you can play a few songs from your iPhone/MP3 player via a connector cable. He’s cool with it! Highly recommended if you’re tired of the frat bars, rave booty music and cig smoke that infests so many venues downtown. A place like this makes downtown worth visiting again.

This place is back open, reincarnated as a Bar/Lounge. It’s got good beers(i.e. Dale’s Pale, etc.), and is nice and chill. One of the few downtown spots with a soul. See you there.

Last night was the second time I’ve been here and I was more impressed with it than the first time because I now understand what it truly is and can be and how cleverly it embodies the idea of its name. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it the first time I was there, but it was a whole different feeling last night. New crowd, new music, new art, new décor. It truly IS a blank space to host any kind of party you can conceive. What a neat idea! I can’t wait to see what it looks like on my next visit, so somebody host a party there soon!

After being in Miami for two nights of hedonism, I didn’t really know what to expect in the land of Mickey. So what a solid surprise to find myself at Blank Space for my first glimpse of Orlando city life! The name says it all in terms of art — the walls are bedecked with the works of hipster artists and the pieces rotate as with any gallery. But because this is also a coffee shop and mini-lounge(they serve beer and wine), the entire space transforms in a way based on what’s hanging. For example, right now Derek Gores( ) is up, and I can’t imagine what the feel would be like with a different set of visuals. And wait, there are ping pong tables, too! It’s almost as if some Brooklyn alternistas were transported to Orlando and didn’t know what else to do but open a gallery. And that, my friends, is a good thing.

Being a downtown dweller I have watched the transformation of Blank Space from a real estate group. At first, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a coffee shop, a bar, an art gallery? But what evolved was a unique blend of all three – (i.e. Blank Space). It’s «blank» because you can fill in what you want it to be. Quite the concept for a downtown spot. The walls are white and art adorns the wall. Music plays and as other Unilocales mentioned, there’s ping pong! It’s in a category of its own and I hope it stays that way. Bottom line, go visit and add Blank Space to your list of Orlando faves.

At first glance, I had no idea what to expect of this place; it was loud, dark and full of interesting characters(I should mention it was very late at night and I was just walking by). After a few failed attempts to see for myself, I finally passed by when they were actually open. I was smitten right away. Besides the fact that they have PINGPONG, they are also pet friendly. Not just, «bring your dog, sit outside, oh and here’s a bowl» pet-friendly, but, «come on in, get cozy on the couch and don’t forget your pooch» pet-friendly. And to top that off, I think they might just have the best chai in Orlando. Like I said: smitten They have local art, tons of business cards from local businesses and services, great drinks, lots of room, a relaxed vibe, and a clean, grass-themed bathroom. What more could you ask for? If you haven’t already, please visit this new, chill place to sit back, do some work, have a chai, and play some ping-pong.

Blank Space is a supercool amalgamation of a coffee house, art gallery, lounge(beer and wine only), and performance art space– all mashed up into one attractive, airy, and comfortable gathering spot. The night I went, fabulous visual art lined the walls, a guy was sipping coffee while working on his laptop, and a group of people were taking advantage of the two ping-pong tables and working on their backhand. The ‘bar’ is situated to the back left hand corner of the lounge, and the main seating area is in front of it with a great view of Central and Rosalind through the many windows. The menu consists of beverages only(including sake, wine and beer), plus lots of coffee drinks. Friday night Blank Space has two-for-one drinks, which is a great special for an independently owned business to have. They also have some kind of sake special on Thursday, although I’m not exactly sure what it is. Blank Space participates in Third Thursdays, so after you hit the City Arts Factory, take the stroll over to Blank Space to enjoy more art, plus a drink or two. You’ll be hooked.

I only stopped in for about an hour today and it seemed they were setting up for a fashion show that evening so it was real laid back. I set up shop at one of the long gorgeous tables and just relaxed. The ambiance is great, the décor is gorgeous and the music is awesome. Lady Unilocalers and Gentleman Unilocalers… They have cider!!! Woodchuck to be exact. Various wines, sake, fancy waters, coffee and espresso. There is a TV playing local news as well as a huge projector that shows some artworks. They have awesome local art all along the walls as well which are very cool. Tons of seating all along the walls and a fairly open space. I just wanted to check out this new location and feel the vibe and it totally passed the ConstantSparkle checklist on a place to frequent especially on fun nights, like when they have Drip and Ping Pong!
