I don’t what it is about Ace but 90 percent of the time I have had stellar customer service with them no matter what store I went to. This store is the absolute best though. This store is located on the busy corner of Bumby and E Colonial. It’s next to the Old Winn Dixie(i heard it’s going to be an Asian grocery store) and by a string of strip mall shops like a pet store, nail store and Dechoes. David, the assistant store manager, should have his face on a sign on the door or something, that dude is always there and is always on top of it. If I walk in there, especially if he’s there, it’s instantly, «How can I help you?» and they walk you right to the product and ring you right up. I’ve never had to wait in line more than five minutes. They even have potting soil, sand and a bunch of things that I thought a store of this small size would not have. The only downside is that it is sorta small so the Ace down on Curry Ford trumps it with the amount of products, although the customer service there is not so great. A couple times I have been like five guys were standing around watching a youtube video.

4 Stars for a small hardware shop that may be cramped, but has some knowledgeable folks working behind the counter. I’ll echo what others have said– I was thrilled that a hardware shop opened in the area, as I’m not always in the mood to drive 15 minutes down the road and wander the endless abyss that is Home Depot. One thing to note is that this Ace is tiny. This makes it perfect for quick trips, but also can be frustrating if you’re looking for something very particular. In the end though, the size really is an asset because this is a neighborhood hardware store and it isn’t trying to be a big box. I’ve gotten great advice here in the past. As others have mentioned, the folks working here are very attentive and quick to extend some knowledge your way when you get their attention. As someone who knows nothing about home improvement– it’s very helpful to have someone guide me through their inventory. Overall, great spot for quick tools and equipment!

This Ace Hardware is in a great location, and has easy access from two different streets however the parking can be a little tight during busier hours of the day. The staff here is amazing and very attentive and courteous. Most recent visit was to have a key made. I didn’t have to wait at all and was helped immediately with a smile. My cashier was patient with me when I couldn’t remember my rewards information and helped me sign up again. Great location.

The heck with Home Depot, come check out this local Ace Hardware. Assuming you aren’t buying appliances or doing massive installations, you are probably just getting small items for all the responsibilities that come with home ownership. Ace almost always has what you need(wow, I sound like a commercial!) There is always somebody waiting to help you, unlike H.D. where, depending on the day, it could take forever to find help, if you find it at all. Plus, the sell the Green Eggs here, which is what I will have… someday.

You need a specific house-maintenance item real quick and Home Depot is a little too far away? Come here! They will give you one-on-one attention as soon as you come through the door. But do you lack a complete list and are somewhat unsure of what you need until you see it? Are you not in the mood to talk to people? — DON’T come here!!! There is no such thing as ‘browsing’ at this location. The employees will always be a few feet behind you going«are you sure you don’t need help finding anything?». It’s a bit annoying when you have a coupon that requires a minimum purchase amount and you just want to analyze the window cleaners on your own terms. Also, the rewards program is pretty cool. They always send you coupons for $ 5 off or a free item. Again, good luck browsing around… They gave me an extremely handy wall calendar not too long ago when I bought some paint. The interior paint came out wonderfully, btw. In addition to the overly attentive staff, the relationship between the manager and the cashiers is a little questionable. I always feel uncomfortable during their interactions and I never see the same cashier twice. :-/

I’m giving this four stars simply for convenience and product quality. Now when it comes to customer service, it’s really not that bad. But every time me and my boyfriend go to find something we need, the employees tend to hover over us while telling their opinion on every product we pick. The last guy we had help us basically told me to not pick what I was buying because there was better product because he was a roofer for 40 years. I get it, but I pick products based on my own trial and error, like most people. And without us even asking for help they are breathing down my neck about everything they have. Sometimes TOOMUCH service is just that, too much. Besides that, I really enjoy the fact that we have a hardware store close to our house now. Plus they have a nice inventory.

When I heard an ACE location was opening near my house. I was absolutely thrilled! I personally dread having to go to the big box hardware stores to try to find materials I need and someone to assist me. Since I bought my 1950’s house last year, I have had to do a LOT of improvements and repairs. I have definitely been to Ace 7 times in one day, and each time the staff was amazing. They are easily accessible and have a wide range of knowledge to help guide you with any project you wish to undertake. They have spent up to half an hour talking to me as I bounced my ideas off them. If you are thinking of starting or completing a project, you need to visit your local ace. While the colonialtown location is my neighborhood store, every location I have visited has been of equal caliber. I would suggest taking pictures of the materials and location of your project so the employees will have some evidence to look at to help you get what you need to get the job done.

I live in walking distance to this location. Everyone is so helpful. I had purchased 4 ge outside flood lights they lasted one week. I went inside spoke to the manager Dave he handed me a box and said on me! I was so thankful. The hell with Home Depot come here.

The 3 stars are for the convenient location near Colonial town & general layout of the store. But be forewarned, If you know nothing about hardware & tools, you are in luck because, the employees know just as much as you. If someone asks if they can help you find something, either be prepared to walk aimlessly around the store searching each isle or you can use the signs & find the item yourself. If your are not busy and have some free time, this is a great place to go and have a chat about life and what you are planning on fixing or building etc. But, if you are in a hurry, plan on waiting in line. If you would like glass cut be sure to double check the glass is cut to your specification BEFORE you leave the store. Or you risk driving home to find the glass an inch short. If you new some help carrying an item to your car, because, say you are 8 months pregnant & have a 2 year old with you, just plan on waiting an extra 10 min before another customer feels sorry for you & helps you out.

Love this place. Super convenient and the staff is always really helpful. Night and day compared to the big box stores.

Colonialtown gets a hardware store! HOORAY! Because sometimes you just need a c-clamp or some potting soil or nails or paint or adirondack chairs or… well, upon reviewing the things I’ve bought there in the last month, they probably have *almost* everything the big boxes have yet are a lot closer to downtown. Super helpful staff too, that is happy to field my questions from recommending the best rope to tie a mattress to the top of my SUV or what size stakes are best for a queen palm. Also this new location is conveniently right next to Dechoes, making for some nice synergies when I wanna get all my Pinterest-inspired DIY-and-fashion shopping done in one stop.
