Columbus Center Dance Academy

Columbus Center Dance Academy has been my second home for 14 years. I am thankful for everything I learned at Columbus, we did not only learn dance technique and the art for dance but we also learned valuable life lessons. When I was in Elementary and Middle School I spent more time at Columbus than I did at home. I always had the most fun at Columbus because of all of my friends who went there with me, we would go outside everyday and play kickball and just have fun. Than we would go to dance for a few hours and then next thing you know your parents were there to pick you up. There were many times my parents would pick me up and I would be mad that they got there early because I didn’t want to leave. I attended the Summer Dance Program for many years and it was just the same as throughout the school year. Once I got into high school I went through the phase of «I want to quit dance, I hate it here!» mainly because I wasn’t able to spend that much time with my friends from school but my dad never let me quit. Looking back at it now, I am very thankful that he didn’t let me quit because I don’t know where my life would be now. I was very thankful that I got the opportunity to teach some of the younger students for a year, it was the best experience of my life. Not only did I get to teach little ones why dance is so much fun but I also got to expand my dance career and was being pushed out of my comfort zone of not choreographing. Even though I graduated in 2012 from Dr. Phillips High School I am not leaving Columbus, I will still be taking classes and learning new things that will help me to further my dance career.
If it wasn’t for Mrs. Becky and the rest of my dance teachers throughout the years I do not know where my dance career would be. Mrs. Becky treats us like her own kids pretty much and I couldn’t be more thankful because it showed me that she really does care about me and wanted me to be the best that I can be. (Yes it took me a long time to realize this but I finally did.)

All of the dance teachers are nice and truly want to help you succeed and become the best dancer that you can become.
