After my former barbershop closed(barber retired), I looked for another barber. As some of the other reviewers mentioned, I wanted a local barbershop, not a hair salon or chain unisex shop. I’ve been going to Conway Barbershop now for a little over a year, and have been most pleased. I get a better haircut at a better price than at my old shop in Winter Park. While I prefer to have the owner Teri cut my hair, I’ve gotten great haircuts from two other barbers who are there on certain days of the week. Pleasant atmosphere and conversation, fair price, and professional job always. –Tom

I decided to go here because Liberty Barber Shop was closed. I had an awful experience and will not be back. I did not receive a barber-quality haircut and would expect this quality of haircut from any quick-cut chain. I wear a pompadour style haircut, and this is what I asked for when I sat down. I mentioned that I use pomade to slick my hair back and even had a picture of what I wanted. I also mentioned that I wanted a distinct part with a fade on the sides. The part was immediately out the window when the woman cutting my hair cut it too short. She then proceeded to tell me how I wanted the top of my hair cut, clearly demonstrating she did not understand what style cut I wanted. When she was done, she handed me a comb and said, «I don’t know how you wear it, so you can style it.»(I showed her a picture of how I wanted it styled!) I looked at her a little confused and first asked for some product. She handed me a jar of hair gel(very different than pomade) and was going to make me apply it myself before she realized that it was her job do to so. She applied very little hair gel(a blessing in disguise I soon found out) and left my hair a mess. I proceeded to try to style it from there, but as it was not the right product, my hair ended up a complete mess. The woman then said, «That’s yucky stuff.» This affirmed that this woman was not a barber by any stretch of the imagination and did not have any knowledge, or even possess, basic male hair products. I walked out of the shop very disappointed and with my hair greasy and in shambles. Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor and go to Liberty Barber Shop up the street if you want a hair cut from an actual barber. I will never be back to Conway.

Let me first say, I love the atmosphere of an old-fashioned barber shop. I think barbering is a high calling and should not be done by someone who is not committed to their career. I have been using this shop exclusively for the better part of 20 years, and if I moved out of Conway(which I hope never to do) I would gladly drive 50 miles to be in this comfortable shop. It has the familiar barber shop smell I remember from being a kid in Pennsylvania. My regular barber, Phil, is attentive and professional. Teri, the owner, has cut my hair several times and also does an excellent job. I HATE chain shops. Back in my early years, I used them because they were convenient, but, as most of you know, the likelihood of getting the same person twice is pretty much zero since the turnover is so high. They say they«listen» before they cut, but if the same person is cutting my hair 20 times a year, should I really have to tell them how I want it cut? Just like last time. If I want something different, I can tell them. I like consistency. And Conway Barber Shop delivers. And I’d like to add, as another reviewer mentioned, I like the straight razor on my neck and around my ears. I highly recommend this shop. It’s like going back in time to when a haircut was fun and not a chore. I’d give them six stars if I could.

Great place to get a haircut. The barbers are very good. After cutting your hair, they always end it with a close shave on the back of your neck with warm shaving cream and an old fashioned straight razor. I look forward to that part every time.
