Flight of the Hippogriff

This was the longest wait for a ride we had the whole 3 days we visited Universal. I was determined to ride every Harry Potter ride even though this was totally a kiddie ride. Wait time posted was 75, but was usually 90 minutes long. The slowest line ever. Lots of people gave up and would walk past us out of the line. I don’t blame them. You could see Buckbeak and Hagrid’s house from the line, and the ride itself was only like 15 second long. I’d say add another coaster train (they only had one running) but I think the ride is just too short to be able to run it properly with two. I’d say this ride is best for kids or super Harry Potter fans.

I always have more fun on this ride than I think I will! Even though it’s a small coaster it still picks up a good amount of speed. It’s a good introduction to the park if you don’t want to go straight to dueling dragons. However, the ride is like a minute long so I wouldn’t wait more than 15 minutes for the ride. The line seemed to be moving slow while I was in it and it was making me antsy to move on. Overall a fun ride if there is not much of a wait. If there is a long wait, I would skip it! The theming is great and exciting for younger riders to get a look at the huge hippogriff at the beginning of the

I only went on this because there was no ride and it said Hippogriff.
FYI the ride is really actually meant for little kids I think. Haha. Not very thrilling. The ride itself wasn’t all that special. You see Buckbeak at the beginning bow to you — and that’s it. I wish you saw more of him or it felt more like you were actually riding on him.
I think that would make a great ride a la similar to Forbidden Journey or something. Because I always loved those scenes in the films. It always looked like so much fun to «ride» Buckbeak around Hogwarts and even over London.
Relaxing if anything. Unless you’re tall, then it’s just tight and painful.
But while waiting on line, at least you get to see Hagrid’s home.

Before this was th Flying Hippogriff, it was the Flying Unicorn. I’d ride this again. I’m not much for the intense rollercoasters anymore, so this is perfect for me!
WAIT TIME/​QUEUE: A few others had commented that if this line is more than 10 minute, it’s not worth it. I suppose if you’re a local, that would make sense. If you’re from out of town, it’s still worth checking out. We waited 30 minutes, but it was a cool day. The queue moved along, and there were two coasters on the track. You’ll be able to check out the exterior of Hagrid’s Hut, where you’ll hear Hagrid talk about how dangerous the Forbidden Forest is. Further along, you can see Buckbeak hanging out in a large nest. It is pretty uncovered, so in the summer months, the line may be pretty unbearable.
THE RIDE: The coaster was designed to look like a wicker Hippogriff. The seats seat two adults pretty snugly. If you’ve got a big shopping bag from your stop in Hogsmeade, try to leave it with a non-​rider or store it in a locker. There’s some mesh netting attached to the lap bar to prevent your belongings from falling out. It’s a short ride in length but definitely enjoyable. You could classify this as a «kiddie coaster» — easy on the stomach, not a lot of drops, and zero upside-​down loops. You’ll spot Buckbeak as you make your initial ascent.
The ride is neat if you’re a Harry Potter fan. And even if you’re not, it’s great for the kids.

If you are over 5’6 you are not going to want to ride this ride. It is clearly a roller coaster that is made for kids and if you are bigger than a kid this will be an uncomfortable ride. We went on this because we had fast pass and there was no wait. The coaster lasted about 45 seconds and it was uncomfortable. It made me feel badly for all of the folks that didn’t have fast pass that were waiting in a half hour or longer line to ride this.
