GFS Marketplace

I’m a real fan of GFS. It seems strange to me that this place is packed because they have such a great deals and there’s no membership fee like there is at a Costco or Sam’s club. Sign up for their coupons and basically they’ll send you five dollars off almost every week. Add an already discounted place this makes GFS a really great deal. My favorite things to get here are the Sabre hummas in the large container, their turkey cold cuts are excellent, the pretzel chips are excellent, and I also like to get snack size things for the kids to take for lunch.

GFS Marketplace is having their grand opening this week. For the last few months, I have driven by here during construction, and I was curious as to what GFS Marketplace had to offer. Earlier this afternoon, I was on my way to the library and decided to stop in and see the store. GFS Marketplace is like other grocery stores that sell in bulk and require a membership. GFS Marketplace does not require a membership, and is open to the public. And it is conveniently located across from Fashion Square Mall.
The majority of the items sold are in bulk. One gallon jars of salad dressing. One gallon cans of tomato sauce. Sliced luncheon meat in two pound packages. Five pound packages of hamburger patties, chicken breasts, chicken wings, and meatballs. Two pound blocks of cheese.
Ideal for restaurants and drinking establishments, or business owners having a office party. Families of four or more will benefit from shopping here as well. And with several grand opening specials, you can save some money. I purchased a 30 ounce container of Maxwell House for $ 5.99. I also picked up a two pound package of sliced Virginia ham for $ 8.99 and a 2.5 pound of spaghetti for $ 3.79. Also on special is a 2 ½ dozen tray of eggs for $ 2.99. or a five pound package of all beef franks for $ 9.99. Sounds great if you are having a child’s birthday party or a big cookout on the grill.
You will find most items available in a grocery store, but only a few brand names. GFS also carries milk, bread, and a small amount of produce.
Like I said, if you have a large family or planning a gathering of friends, this is a place to check out. Open to the public and no membership fee, GFS is open seven days a week. Monday-​Saturday, 7:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. — 6:00 p.m.

I will most likely stop in here and do some grocery shopping after a visit to either Fashion Square Mall or to the library. But a five gallon container of ice cream? As much as I love ice cream, I may have to settle for going elsewhere.

I’m happy to have this market in the neighborhood.
