I think most people(especially my fellow black men) would agree when I say it is tough to find a nice barber shop in a new city. Luckily I came across J Henry’s pretty quickly. I typically get my hair cut by either Lee or J Henry himself, but I must say that all the barbers there are cool and have done a great job cutting my hair. So this is one of the few barber shops I have ever been to where you can feel comfortable letting any of the barbers give you a cut.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I typically don’t write reviews, but, i had too. I was shocked at how rude and awful the service was service.

Before J. Henry’s, I was a barber shop virgin for maintaing my own hair needs. However, after such a great experience I can confidently say: J. Henry’s is my new go-to spot to keep my hair cut nice and clean. I was in a bit of a pickle after attempting to play kitchen beautician on myself and I needed some immediate help. Now, usually I’m okay with maintaining my do’, but today was just not my day. So, when I asked my friend about a barber or barber shop, without hesitation he recommended Lee at J Henry’s. For this, I was not disappointed! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by Lee and another older gentleman and ushered to the chair that spoke of the many behinds of clients that Lee had serviced over the years. Before beginning my cut he clarified exactly what I wanted and repeated it back to me to be sure. Lee was very careful to keep me aware of what he was doing and let me see the cut in stages to make sure I was satisfied. The atmosphere was just like what I’d seen on TV or heard about from other people. To the right of me a barber was servicing a cranky little boy and then his female guardian. To the left of me a barber was serving some other gentleman. Everyone seemed really personable, like they were regular customers and that gave me a reassuring feeling. The shop itself is nothing fancy. Just two long wall of mirrors lining the length of the shop, about four stations, some chairs for you to wait in, and a couple of TVs. This place doesn’t entertain all the fuss of other modern salons and prefers to keep it straight forward and simple. As long as they keep providing good service at excellent prices, I’ll be a customer.

Great place for African Americans to get a haircut /shave. The barbers are professional, courteous, quick and do a solid job.

Just the other day someone came up to me and said, «A-yo WeatherMan where did you get that tight fade?» So I told him like I tell all my fans that J Henry’s is the spot. Whenever I need to look right and tight, I go see my boy Lee or Q to fix my wig. I tell you that sometimes I feel like I am in the movie Barber Shop with Ice Cube. For those that have seen this movie know what I am talking about. Not only are the barbers professional but they are funny and die hard sports fans. So I dare you to debate sports with them. I double dog dare you. Next thing you know you’ll think you are in the barber shop scene from Coming to America. So if you need that so fresh and so clean look for a big date, interview, or whatever make sure you hit up J Henry’s. They are located right near the new Magic Stadium. Also make sure you bring cash and hit them up on Monday through Wednesday. It is customer appreciation day and haircuts are only $ 10. p. s. White people are welcomed to. Don’t be scurred! Ha-ha!
