Totally shocked of the closing of Latin Roots. No warning, no message, no txt, no email, no tweet, no Instagram, what the hell happened. Where would I go when i don’t want to cook and someone makes food just like me… and where prices are reasonable. Come on now. sad and missing you latin roots…

Simply Delicious! Great food at a great price! The Trifongo is so tasty with just the right amount of sweetness! It’s one of my favorite Latin restaurants in the area.

The food here was good, although I did find it a little underwhelming. I probably should have gone with my first choice, and ordered the mofongo, which looked fantastic. Alas, I ordered some chicken with rice and beans, which was just OK. Service was a little slow during lunch, even though there weren’t that many people around. I’ll probably swing by one more time to try the mofongo.

Was just ok. The Mofongo was dry, and the rest of the food was forgettable. Not bad. Just nothing to brag about.

Delicious and authentic Puerto Rican food. It took me forever to find an authentic Spanish place and my only did I find one, it was fantastic! I’ve tried a number of things in the menu and hey are all delicious. I frequent there and I have put many people on to it.

I stopped by after acquiring a $ 10 off deal from . When I walked in there was no hostess by the door but after about 3 minutes, one of the young ladies saw me standing there and escorted me to my seat and given a menu. Several minutes later she returned to take my drink order. She arrived with my iced tea but it was sweet and I ordered unsweetened tea. She quickly corrected that. I let her know this was my first time here and asked what specials they had. She pointed to the lunch specials and quickly named a few but did not really detail what they were. I asked for recommendations and she just stuck to the basics and her best recommendation was the Bistec De Palomilla Salteado. I ordered it with the Trifongo in spite of the up charge along with a side salad. Some garlic bread was brought to the table but it was just a smashed bun with some garlic butter that was grilled. My lunch came out all at once and it was a bit of a let down. The salad was a little bit of iceberg lettuce and two thin slices of tomato and a cucumber slice but the portion was tiny. The Trifongo was a generous portion and looked very nice. The Bistec De Palomilla Salteado looked fine but the peppers were under cooked and the onions were not caramelized. The Trifongo was great but when I asked for a sauce since I don’t like my Mofongo dry, the server was only offering me some hot sauce. I let her know I wanted some sauce but all she brought me was some seasoned oil which did not go with the Trifongo at all and some hot sauce that was a bit sweet. I can’t think of another place that has served me dry Mofongo. As for the Bistec De Palomilla Salteado, the beef had a good flavor and was nicely cooked but the under cooked peppers and uncaramelized onions sis not do the dish justice. I was offered dessert and when I asked about the offerings she told me about the papaya but never really elaborated. I asked what it was called and she just said it did not have an English translation and never even bothered to explain how the dish was made. I knew what Dulce de Papaya con Queso was but was simply playing dumb to see how she reacted. I ordered it and she seemed surprised but when it was delivered, the presentation did not wow me and the cloves and cinnamon was never strained out of the sauce. The taste was quite nice however… When it was time for my bill I let the server know I have a deal from and the bill was under $ 20 so I ordered the Flan De Vanilla. Straight up… It was the best thing I was served and it wowed me I have to say. I never let on to my server that I speak her language until AFTER the meal. I have found that if I let on I speak multiple languages I get a different level of service than if I do not let on that I speak multiple languages. That was the case today… Note to my server… TREATALLOFYOURGUESTSTHESAMEREGARDLESS… I am going to assume today was just an off day and will give them another chance because that flan really wowed me enough to try several of the other menu items that my server SHOULD have recommended to me.

What a gem! This was such a great find. The food was delicious and very authentic, and the menu had many items that we didn’t recognize. The best of these, and their signature item, was the mofongos!

Simply amazing food! My husband and I went to San Juan about 8 months ago and had been looking for some good Puerto Rican food and we found it! The churasco stuffed mofongo was delicious! We highly recommend!

Excellent food, excellent service. I ordered the pernil lunch special and added the platano verde y platano maduro to it(up charge of a few bucks). This was very, very good. First time here. I’ve eaten mofongo at other places and they have been either too salty or just bland. This place hits the right balance. I will definitely be back. Was here on Wed.

What a great find. This is why it pays to consult Unilocal when you are on the road. Latin Roots rocks. I always like to check out local joints when I’m on the road. Latin Roots is affordable, tastes, authentic, and definitely local. I started with chicken empanadas — good flavor but more of a deep fried crispy texture than pillowy. They were definable fresh and made of quality ingredients. I also ordered the roast pork. Unbelievably delicious. It rivaled the roast pork at El Siboney in Key West. Believe you me, that’s high praise. I also had a glass of red sangria — I highly recommend this as well. If you find yourself in the area, skip the plethora of chains in the area and seek out Latin Roots.

Super tasty authentic family run Puerto Rican restaurant! My wife and I both have PR roots and this was just as good as home cooked. We had the pernil, rice and red beans, and garlic shrimp mofongo– all awesome! My wife usually adds salt to everything, but the seasoning of the food was so spot on that she didn’t touch it. Will be back for sure!

Love this place. I’ve been going there since it opened and love the food and the people are extremely friendly. Their mofongo is amazing and they started making«el jibarito», which was to die for that i had this past week. A sandwich with plantains instead of bread and it was just amazing. Only if we lived closer

This place is great. I’ve been here three times and everything that was ordered has been excellent. The service is good and the presentation of the food is very well done(see pictures). The portions are very generous. The place is in a strip mall and the layout is wide open so it is not the most upscale of locations but the food is truly a treat. As of this moment I would call this one of the top(if not the top) Puerto Rican restaurants in the UCF area/East Orlando. Their lunch specials are a great deal, huge portions of delicious food and a drink for less than $ 7. The only caveat being that it does not include refills. The mofongo at this place is excellent. The«mofongo de yuca» is in a class of its own and deserves to be separately mentioned. I had never tried it before but it will not be long before I try it again! The alcapurrias are excellent. You get two small ones in one order and they came out perfect. I could go on and on about how good the food is but I won’t. I’ve had three different meals at this place and they were all great. The only thing not worth raving out was their side salad as it was just okay. If you want some authentic Puerto Rican food, come by ASAP, you can’t go wrong.

Tried this Puerto Rican/Latin restaurant out for the first time for lunch yesterday. Close to the office just off Alafaya Trail or Colonial Hwy in another strip mall, common occurrence in Orlando, but don’t let that discourage you as the first thing to pull you in will be the great aroma of the food from the kitchen. Was all so familiar from other experiences yet totally inviting. Then you see a most of the tables full by people of ‘Latin’ heritage so they know if the food is prepared right & in sufficient quantities and they were right, great place & recommend to those still in search of a good place for PR/Latin cuisine, enjoy

I really hate to give a place with such nice staff two stars. Please take a look at how many people who review a place have friends and other reviews, since I think some reviews are not always entirely legitimate. These will be discovered, but only by personal experience and more reviews. The pollo empanizado and the pollo a la plancha both were noticeably frozen prior to being cooked. The taste was off and it took a few bites to figure out the chewiness was freezer burn. The appetizer we had was overfried, super greasy with no taste(a typical Puerto Rican item … Meat stuffed inside a mashed root vegetable) as were the plantains. That is due to improper frying temperature… No cook should allow that to happen. The arroz con gandules was passable. The bread was well prepared and tasty. The portions were very generous but I won’t be back. I am sad, since I always love small restaurants to succeed and do well. The décor is very homey and the restaurant is clean. I wish I could have written them a private note to tell them how to fix things, but I did not want to be presumptuous.
