Read the previous reviews about the wait and decided to bring my work with me. Rude office staff with cold demeanor. I can deduce with such a poor attitude they are treated poorly by the doctors or their gross annual income is about $ 20,000. When I inquired about the security key for wifi I was told they don’t have wifi. Which in the 21st century at a doctor’s office, if everyone is hard wired, I’m scared to see what the doctor is like. The correct response should be, we have wifi, but do not give patients access to the wifi. If wifi is at the local grocery store it should be at an «eye institute». My suggestion is to go to another specialist.

Although my wife and I both have had excellent, friendly, and courteous encounters with the doctors and their nurses and technicians at this facility, the last appointment for my wife’s annual checkup was simply inexcusable. Her appointment time was 9:45 a.m. We were early by a few minutes and sat in their«Greyhound Bus Station» waiting room till 11:45 a. m before she finally was called back by a technician to begin her work up. After waiting probably another 30 minutes, I caught sight of her being seated in an adjoining smaller 2nd waiting area and walked over to see what was going on and she still had not seen a doctor. I decided at that point to go out and wait in the car. My wife did not emerge from the clinic till 12:45 p.m. Her confrontation with the actual doctor probably was maybe 10 – 15 minutes. I mention this in contrast to my recent appointment at the Orlando Heart Institute on S. Orange Avenue, an equally busy, multiple doctor facility. There was an error made by the girl where I signed in on the 4th floor. She never entered me into the system after I signed in prior to my appointment time and we sat an hour and a half before I went over and asked what was going on? They apologized profusely and I was taken back within ten minutes. I was told if I ever came there and was not called back within 20 minutes to always come forward and inquire why because that was their goal. I was upset but I realize at Orlando Heart, this was a fluke, not a commonplace occurrance. At McGruders I am afraid reading some of the previous reviews, this is SOP. I think they have accepted far too many patients per doctor and have made it a normal procedure to book appointments at the same time on the same date to cram them all in regardless of knowing that there is no way in Hell of doing it and meeting any modicum of goal of seeing each patient within say 20 minutes of arrival. This is NOT a problem with the doctors, nurses, technicians but with the management of this facility who need to re-evaluate their scheduling of appointments and their assignment of patients per doctor.

My Great Grandmother whom is 99 years old had an appointment @ 10am we waited for almost 3 hours for her to see the Dr. for less than 10 mins. I asked to speak with the office manager. She refused to speak to me in the waiting room due to the amount of other very disgusted and angry patients and would only answer my questions in her office. But here is where it gets good. The reason I was given for the wait was the doctor decided vay-cay and had to squeeze everyone in. No apologizes were given to me or my 99 year old Great Grandmother. Just rude replies and eye rolls. I know Dr. Magruder and his son have left the practice and with them went all service and patient care. This place is Bad Bad Bad!!!

This place is BUSY! I was not expecting this at all during my first visit. The front desk staff were very friendly, and the waiting room is large and there’s so much going on. The Dr I saw, Dr. Centner, figured out what was wrong with my eye, gave me a prescription for antibiotics, and sent me on my way. He listened to what I had to say and properly and spent a good amount of time addressingmy concerns. The only reason I give this place a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the waiting area/front desk. It’s a little too chaotic for me.

Waited over an hour in the first waiting room, then another 20 minutes in the next waiting room. Dr. Spent less than 10 minutes with me and literally blew through the exam with little to no comment on what he was finding. I had a specific problem that brought me there and his only comment was, «I don’t think it’s too bad. Come back in 60 days and we will look at it again.» I will certainly have it «Looked at again.», but not here.

I visited this practice about 4 – 5 times over the course of last year. Because it is such a large practice and facility, there are always a lot of people waiting and I always waited for a long time. As in 20 – 40 minutes. There are different waiting rooms so you start in one and move to another, which gives the illusion of not waiting. I have an unusual health circumstance and the doctor that I saw there never fully believed me when I explained to him what happened to me. On follow up visits he would say«So are you still saying that XYZ is what happened to you?» In general, his bedside manner was poor. The only reason I stayed is because it is hard to get appointments with ophthalmologists and they had all of my history. I have since moved on. I do think the doctors there are knowledgeable and very skilled. I am just turned off by the practice in general and the bedside manner of the physician that I saw.

So I’ve managed to make a few trips here already for eye exams. One trip to one doctor and a couple to another. Each trip the doctor was thorough in checking my eyes and giving handouts and expert advice, as well as going the route of free samples. This is good, especially since this counts as a «specialist» visit on my insurance instead of a regular doc visit. The one big thing that does stand out is that each trip I felt a little rushed. I’ve had questions a couple of times and I felt as if I needed to block the door while I asked them so the doc wouldn’t leave. LOL All in all, its a very pretty office, they are very good at getting you in to see a doctor faster than other establishments, and they seem to offer a very wide range of eye services from contacts to lasik which gets my attention. Spend a little more time with me and I’m yours forever. :)
