F-U-N! Too bad it’s going away. Part of the doomed Pleasure Island at downtown, it is known as the best dance club there. Wife, Jenn N., found it, read reviews, got the details, and we’re there. If you just want to dance and maybe have a drink, a week night at this place is perfect! I’m married and don’t like the meat market scene very much. As in other reviews, not too many people there, but it did pick up a little about 11pm. Descent drink prices for sure. Very clean! From the front door to the restroom at the back, place was just very clean. Cool atmosphere, with all the lights and smoke and rotating floor. My only complaint was the music was a little too loud, but I liked the dance mixes. They really have a ton going on with all the systems and technology to synchronize all the affects with the music. Amazing place. I wish there was a place EXACTLY like this in the East Bay.

Do not mix hard liquor drinks with revolving floors, it make for nasty bruises and one hell of a good time. This local legend will be closing it’s doors for good Sept 27, so if you haven’t had a chance to experience it, you should… Sorry kiddies, this place is 21 and up!

Okay Mannequins is fucking awesome. Do not, I’m telling you, do NOT try and go here on a Tuesday night. I can’t speak for all the other nights in the week, but on Tuesdays there are like 10 people in here and they are OLD and touristy. Come on a Thursday for sure. This place was crazy packed. Like many other people I didn’t realize this was a gay club, but we were totally happy to find out it was. The music was good, the dance floor was rotate-y and the atmosphere was awesome! I totally recommend!

We’ve all seen Pinocchio right? Do you remember when Pinoch got caught up in the wrong crowd and before he knew it he was on Pleasure Island boozin & smokin and then he grew a donkey tail & ears and started laughing«eeh ahhh, eeh ahhh»? I went to Pleasure Island. I have neither donkey ears nor a donkey tail & my laugh is still the same. So where’s your moral now, Disney? Oh right, you are going to tear Pleasure Island down. So no one can indulge in the taboo-ish festivities for adult like people. Boo I say, Boo. This place is wicked. I am so glad I got to experience it before they take it away. When we first arrived it was nearly empty. I’m guessing people stay away because: a) Tourists go here b) It’s hard to sound cool when someone asks where you partied and you reply«at a club in Disneyworld» c) The kind of tourists that are in Lake Buena Vista are families, newlyweds & old folk. At one point I looked around and the clientele consisted of one lady that clearly only beat to her own drum, my husband and I, and an older couple with their 21+ daughter(I think?). The thing was — the atmosphere in this place was cool enough that I could have cared less. Disney knows how to put on a show. The moving dance floor, old & current dance re-mixes, and lighting/smoke effects — did not disappoint. I once again had a tough time keeping my feet off the dance floor. The special of the night was a double well drink and well — 2.(or was it 3?) of those went a long way. It was awesome to have a bartender readily available. We never had to fight through a crowd or wait for a drink. As the night went on people filtered in and out. Even«cool» people showed up. :D If you could teleport Mannequins to my home town — I’d be there a lot.

Sadly, the famous revolving dance floor was non-operational when I visited. Happily, this place got me wasted.

I had NO expecatations for this club in Downtown Disney. Well, maybe it was the company, maybe it was the 5 or so drinks, maybe it was the revolving dancefloor, but… I actually had a lotta fun. DJ was spinning mix of house and breakbeats. Toca’s «I Need a Miracle» came on and I was on that turntable of a dancefloor. Oh Memories. Crowd was of course mostly touristy, not too many couples, but I didn’t get the sense that the place was a meat market. The people weren’t crazy sexy, but seemed to be pretty normal; just there to have a few drinks with friends or colleagues and dance a bit. It was very relaxed, unpretentious and casual. Just what I needed that night. Met a swinging couple and flirted with them a bit before kinda ditchin them. Met a group of bachelorettes dressed as naughty schoolgirls; they were more than willing to take a bunch of pics with us which was amusing. A few pretty boys were scattered about, and one of them grabbed me to say, «Stop takin all those damn pictures and dance with me! Don’t worry, I’m gay.» I told him I’d been waiting all night for him to say those exact words to me. The Queen was a very sweet, very handsome Prince. His partner is an industrial designer and he gave me his business card but now I can’t find it. John, if you happen to be reading this, please email me. I’d LOVE to see your partner’s portfolio. Go check it out. It’s a pretty fun place on the right night.

I’m gonna have to agree with Hiromi on this one. I just visited Orlando for Gay Days and this was the place we chose to hit up before the big party weekend started. Luckily for us, this was where one the kick off parties was being held. You walk in and you are completely taken off guard by the fact that there is a fucking rotating dance floor in the middle of this place… with lots of hotties already on board. Although I am giving it a very generous 3 stars, I was a little disappointed that the bartender didn’t know how to make a hurricane… In a State that has hurricane season??? So took a star away. The other thing that caused a loss of perfect scoring was the experience that I had upstairs. Where I come from the drinks are made fast when there is a long ass line of people, and when you show a little respect and let the person who was there first get his order on Don’t, and I repeat«DON’T» ignore the person who was already at the counter 10 minutes before all the 8 people you just served. It’s totally tacky. That cost a second star. Other than those 2 experiences… I will most likely grace Mannequins halls once more when I return next year.

I HEART Mannequins, mostly because it is GAY friendly. I don’t think that the tourists that drop by Pleasure Island even realize it, which is half the fun for me. It has a rotating dance floor and it is quite amusing to watch, with each pass how those tourists that had NOT done their research about Mannequins turn BRIGHT, BEETRED. The music is alternative, trance and Eurotrash. I LOVEIT. Plus the boys there are FOOOOOOOOIIIIINNNNE!!! Of course, you knew that a large number of WDW employees are gay, right? OOOOPS, did I ruin the magic? This place is for: men that are confident in their sexuality, women who adore gay men, gay men and for people that love to dance in general. Go join the party at the«happiest place on earth»…hehehe.
