Here’s the situation. I had 2 computers that were out of commission and in need of resuscitation. First the desktop issue. When I pushed in the power button, the LED light would turn on, but the actual PC wouldn’t boot up at all. No sound, no start up, nothing. This was about 5 months ago. I didn’t bother pursuing a solution because I still had my laptop to conduct my Unilocal reviews on. Enter Merlin, the brand spankin’ new addition to the household. You see, Merlin is a kitten with a rambunctious demeanor. So one day, while he was randomly bouncing off walls and couches in the middle of the night, he knocks the laptop off the couch and onto the ground. Thus jamming the connected charger deep into the port and mangling the insides. The laptop worked fine, but when it ran out of battery, I couldn’t charge it back up again. Bummer, no more Unilocaling for me. In a state of emergency, I called around to many PC repair establishments. Some didn’t pick up their phone, some didn’t seem enthused when talking to me over the phone, some were even out of business. Then I called REK Computers and talked with the owner, Robbie. Speaking with him was a great change from the lackluster results I had experienced calling around. Robbie was eager to help! He knew with confidence what he was talking about, asked me probing questions about the type of damage done to my computers and educated me on what he suspects will be needed in terms of parts to fix my desktop and laptop. He was very thorough in explaining everything and anticipated the kinds of questions I would have without me asking him. The guy had all the answers and set my expectations as far as price range and timing of repair. I appreciated the fact that he shoots straight. Their techs will drive out to your home to look at your PC and pick it up for repairs if you decide on doing so. No initial diagnostic fees either. Also, since I had both my computers repaired by REK Computers, they gave a reasonable discount. Nice. After discussing everything with Robbie over the phone, he sent a tech to my home to look at the computers and take them away. We concluded that the desktop needed a new power source installed. Also, the laptop needed a new internal charge port since the original one was so badly damaged. Robbie stated it would take up to a few days for the new parts to come in and gave me an estimated price. 4 business days later, he called to let me know the computers were repaired and asked what time would be best for him to drop them off with me. When he came by my home, he took the time to boot both computers up in front of me to ensure they were in working order. Which they were! He stuck around and took the time to answer a few more questions I had. He even gave me some useful information on personal care for the PCs. Fabulous. If anyone has a virus infection, need hardware repairs, or have questions in general about their PC or laptop, REK Computers is where to go. They will shoot you straight, counsel you through everything, set your expectations appropriately, fair pricing, no diagnostic fees, efficient turnaround time and home pickup/delivery. Best of all is their overall customer service and comprehensive knowledge. Hallelujah, I can Unilocal again.
