Ronald McDonald House

Such a great cause. Who wouldn’t want to volunteer here? The Ronald McDonald House is a place for parents to stay while their kids are in the hospital. The house is right next the hospital so the parents can walk back and for. You can even have your other children stay there with you.
We helped out with the Share a Meal program. We cooked an «Italian fiesta smörgåsbord» for the families. A number of people shared their stores with us. One’s child was born prematurely and was now up to 3 lbs. Another arrived late the evening before for their 3 year old to get a transplant.
Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House for provide such a warm and inviting place to these familes. To the kids, stay strong and get well soon!

Came with a group to cook dinner for families that have children in the hospital for one reason or another. Sometimes families are at the hospital all day and are extremely appreciative of a home cooked meal.
You pick a date available and coordinate with the Ronald McDonald House. Choose a meal as a group or people can make individual dishes. They have two stoves, microwaves, island, 3 dishwashers and plenty of cooking supplies. Lunch was served at 12 so the group got there at 10 to begin preparing. Set food on the counter and families serve what they want. They recommend to cook for about 20 people.
Only reason I took a star off was because a volunteer just showed the group where the kitchen was. No explanation of where things were or rules of the kitchen. Kind of figure things out yourself. Maybe they just had a busy day.
Really enjoyed the experience and I plan on doing it again!
