Not only do they do a great haircut/blow dry they also know how to treat their customers right! Such a relaxing place to get hair done and complementary refreshments were served as well :) Sheila cut my hair and I was impressed. She always made sure I was comfortable and liked my hair cut. The employees are truly sweet and kind and show so much hospitality. They all have had so much experience working with top businesses in places such as New York. Truly a wonderful business and I would defenitley recommend it!

I usually do not feel compelled to leave online feedback or reviews, but the experience of my visit to Salon on Nine was such an affirmative one that I implore you to look no further than Salon on Nine and Sheila for your hair care. Some background info: I am extremely picky about my hair, and have not had the best of luck with hair stylists since moving from the West Coast. Since moving to Florida several months ago, I have been on the hunt for a new stylist to no avail. After reading several positive reviews about Salon on Nine and its owner Sheila, I decided to call for an appointment. I was going to a concert and needed to get my hair cut and styled. Sheila was extremely accommodating, and was able to fit me in at the last minute. She asked me what type of cut and style I was looking for, and I told her that I had pictures, which she asked me to send to her and I did. I arrived for my appointment and received a warm welcome from Sheila, and we proceeded to discuss in more detail what I was looking for, and from the start I felt extremely comfortable with Sheila’s knowledge, skill, and feedback. Sheila was patient and listened to any concerns that I had, and she gave me a beautiful cut and style. I am extremely happy to finally find a hair stylist who listens, and then executes your vision with their skill and knowledge.

I was travelling in Florida for the weekend, wanted to get my hair done. Those of us with ethnic mixed hair walk hesitantly into a new salon, we put our trust in the person who confidently tells us ‘yes, I can work on your hair!’ And hope they truly can. I walked into Salon On Nine, was greeted warmly by its owner Sheila. I was impressed and felt relaxed in such a warm, friendly, pretty salon. Sheila took my dry brittle salt-n-pepper hair and with her talented hands and power of shampoo, deep conditioner and blow dryer transformed my hair into beautiful, soft, shiny hair. There’s no doubt in my mind that Sheila truly can work hair beautifully. I can go on, but I’ll let my photos do the talking. Whenever I’m in Florida, I will be back!

Oh dear Daniel, you did a lovely job on my hair. This was a last minute cut on a gloomy rainy day. I have a under cut, meaning sides are cut all the way around and Daniel, the dear that his is, did a great trim on my hair. I had a lot of damage from bleaching it quite a few times and now that it was growing out and I was going natural he needed to texturise the heck out of my hair. In the end I got a great cut at a very reasonable price(I believe $ 50) and he told me he is master colorist so as soon as I get the near again. I’m going for a new shade in my hair. Only negative I can see is the parking, it’s either the street or finding a side street. The salon is small which I like because it gives a better one on one time with your stylist. I’m defiantly coming back soon. (^_^)/”

Bought a livingsocial deal for this place and was pleasantly surprised. I love the mills district in general for all their small businesses. This place is quaint and did not try to talk me into all kinds of extra charges or purchases. They have wine and other refreshments and it is a very quiet calm salon. I would recommend to anyone.

Very relaxing and clean atmosphere. I like to be able to go a place that takes walk in appointments, but the quality of the haircut here was much better than those large chain salons that rush you in and out. Molly did a great job with my hair and was very pleasant. The place is small but decorated very comfortably. I didn’t feel rushed at all. This price less than other salons, and I even was able to use a coupon too! They also had really good lemonade :)

I recently moved back to Orlando and have been on the prowl for a good place to get my hair done. I have a cut I really like and recently had my sister(who is a hairstylist in CA) do a color overhaul at her salon, so I was really only in need of a root touch up and a trim– a maintenance job that would allow me to go to a place that I didn’t know without having to blindly trust someone I didn’t know to do something drastic. I’ve been to other salons in the area,(no names but one that has a very good reputation) and while I have no complaints, and even liked my experiences elsewhere, my sense was that the Colonialtown/Thornton Park area is so cool that I should be able to find a place that was truly awesome and really fit me. Well, I found that with Salon On Nine. Salon On Nine is a small shop owned by a very pleasant, knowledgable, and hip local woman named Sheila. Inside, it’s filled with really wonderful art from local artists, as well as some exemplary black and white photography taken by Sheila’s son in New York. They played great music. You can tell that Sheila runs a good business by both the quality of the services and the pleasant vibe inside. Sometimes, especially in über hip salons(like the one I am not naming) I feel a little uncomfortable. Know what I mean? Forced conversation with very image conscious people can be a little weird. There’s none of that at this place. They’ve nailed being down to earth without compromising quality and creativity. They took me last minute on a Saturday– major points but it was luck, too, because there was only Sheila and Daniel, who ended up being my stylist, there for the last two hours of their workday. Daniel has been doing hair for 33 years, and came out of New York. He’s a really great stylist and very easy to talk with. He listened to what I wanted and needed, and I left there with hair looking better than it had when I’d initially gotten it done. While my hair was processing, he said«oh, do you want some wine? we have great wine here.» Uh, don’t mind if I do! And he was right, it was a very nice glass of wine! A perfect hour and a half of relaxation with good company. After I visited I actually looked at the website and was pretty impressed with both Sheila and Daniel’s backgrounds. He just told me that he worked in New York for Bumble and Bumble in the 80’s, but way to not brag– his resume(and her’s!) goes way beyond that. Daniel matched my two different base colors perfectly, and as we were talking, I told him that while I do what stylists tell me to do in-between visits(my sister has trained me well) I am unwilling to not go in the water when I go to the beach, and want to get something done to protect my hair further. He talked to me about a keratin treatment, and did not give me a hard sell, but was realistic about what I could expect with the alternatives if I really want to be going to the beach. I appreciated it, and decided to go with the keratin. I’ve had so many compliments in the one day since I went there. My hair is now AMAZING. He nailed my color, my need for protected shiny hair, and fixed my cut flawlessly, adding a little jazz it had previously lacked. It appears that he doesn’t even have to think about it too hard, either– that’s what choosing to go with someone with this kind of experience gets you. You don’t come to open a little salon in Colonialtown that’s such a cut above the rest by not knowing what you’re doing. The breadth of experience these folks have is apparent in how good they are at both the craft and their interactions with people. Doing hair is more than a service– it’s an art. Salon On Nine knows that. If you want a real artist to do your hair, in a beautiful salon, with interesting, engaging conversation, and actual creativity, skip the wanna be’s and go to Salon On Nine.

My first experience with Salon on Nine was a great one. Sheila the owner manages the salon with the customers’ needs in mind. The stylists are professional and experienced, the salon pretty and well maintained, and the ambience very comfortable and friendly. I was really happy with my cut and style. I will definitely be back.

I was hesitant to get a men’s haircut at a salon because I’ve always went to a barbershop. In desperate need of a haircut I decided to give SALONONNINE a try. Mrs Sheila Tate was very nice and took great care of me. I was 100% satisfied with my fade style haircut and was pleased with the customer service.

I’ve had to reconstruct my youthful blonde hair color via salons for the past 14 years and have never had such a wonderful balance of Quality and Professionalism in one salon before. I’ve been back 4 times with Daniel the color, cut, & style EXPERT! He truly has revitalized my color and overall health of my hair. This guy knows his stuff– he made the high lights in my hair look so natural Its seriously better than my youth color ;) Not only am I in love the look and feel of my hair I’m overwhelmed with the cleanliness of the salon and how all the staff makes me feel so comfortable through the entire process starting with the confirmation calls and ending with the check out ;) I also have my 4 year olds hair cut here as we’ll. Its such a great experience for her to be pampered by the staff. I cannot speak highly enough about this Salon. I am a LIFER… I Absolutely love my hair, salon and stylist…

I just recently moved to this side of town and needed to find a new hairdresser. After combing through the Unilocal reviews, trying to find something better than Great Clips but less expensive than… say, $ 70 for a female haircut(yeash!) I decided to go with Salon on Nine. Their website is very nice, although the online scheduling tool doesn’t seem to be fully operational yet(or at least it wasn’t at the time). So I did the old fashioned thing and called them. The owner was very friendly and they were able to schedule me in pretty quickly. By the way, they even had a coupon on line that you could print & bring in with you– free shampoo & blow-dry with your haircut(approx. $ 10 value). Only wish I had remembered to bring the coupon with me(doop!). The day of my apt. I was running a little late and didn’t know exactly where the salon was. So I was a bit frantic. But, turns out, it’s on Mills– just off OBT– very easy to find. The moment I walked into the salon I started feeling better. It was beautiful inside; comfortable décor; with terrific music playing in the background. I was greeted warmly and quickly. My haircut turned out good. The stylist(a guy… so sorry I don’t remember his name!!) seemed very skilled at what he was doing. As with most stylists, I’m not convinced I really got a full opportunity to explain my goals regarding my hair. It seems you always have to be careful what the first thing that comes out of your mouth is because they just take that & run. So my new ‘do is actually a little shorter & more high maintenance than I would have wanted. But, I was really(and I mean REALLY) overdue for a little hair TLC, so I’m just gonna say he did what he had to do to get me back in shape. All good will. I’m 90% sure I’ll be back there by the end of the summer for a trim. BTW, they’re having a «Customer Appreciation Party & Open House» on July 13, 2013 from 4pm-8pm. They’re having a live band, give aways, special promotions & refreshments. So if you’re looking for a new salon, this may be an awesome time to drop by and check them out!

I went to Salon on Nine to have my hair done for my college graduation, and can I say Ms. Sheila did an AMAZING job! First, I have fine, super curly hair that hasn’t been straightened by a stylist in over 4 years. I am super picky about going to salons, and I was soooo excited by the finished product! My hair was super silky and blowing in the wind! I will definitely take the trip from Gainesville to Orlando just to get my hair done by Salon on Nine.

This Salon was a Joy to visit and offers high end styling at very reasonable rates. I got exactly the look I wanted and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, with a complimentary glass of wine which was nicely welcomed. Try it out for yourself, it’s new, fresh and very great full of your business.
