I rented a scooter through Scootaround for a trip to Disneyland last week. The process of making the reservation (over the phone) and confirming it (via electronic form) was very easy, and the people I talked to were friendly and helpful. My scooter was delivered to my hotel’s bell desk before I checked in, and was waiting for me when I got there. It worked flawlessly the entire five days I had it. Returning it was super easy, because I just left it with the bell desk the last evening of my trip.
Ultimately, renting from Scootaround was cheaper than renting from Disney, and more convenient, because I was able to take the scooter out of the park. This rental saved my vacation, and completely relieved the anxiety I felt about going to Disneyland after ankle surgery. I can’t speak to other people’s experience with other equipment in other places, but for me the entire process of dealing with Scootaround was effortless.

Scootaround made my holiday in New York with a broken ankle so much more bearable. I decided that hiring a mobility scooter would be easier than using crutches to get around. As I was coming all the way from Australia, I was initially a little frustrated with the order enquiry process – I submitted a web form query and received an email quote in response, but I was required to call up to complete my order. Calling the USA during standard working hours from Australia wasn’t the best… I had to stay up until around midnight to get through in their morning.
But then Valerie was my saviour! I should have sent through a compliment for her a lot sooner than this, so I hope someone at Scootaround sees this and she still works there. Our initial conversation was informative, though I did happen to mention the late hour at which I had to call. After our call, Valerie shot me an email to let me know she’d be happy to assist me with any questions over email to account for the time differences. This was invaluable! I was able to book my scooter and ask my many questions as they came to me, even during my trip.
Arranging the delivery was not a problem, either – Scootaround provided me with delivery and collection windows, and the scooter had already been delivered by the time I arrived at my first destination (magical scooter waiting for me!) and I left it behind at my second accommodation with no concern. The scooter got a little bit of damage sustained while I had it (riding too hard, rock’n’roll lifestyle etc) but I had included insurance for damages at a small extra daily charge. Worth it!
I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Scootaround to anyone who was in my situation. I’m sorry to hear others have had poor experiences but I had nothing but joy thanks to Scootaround. Plus you could technically say I met Bill Murray thanks to them. Long story.

Rented a scooter for a week to visit the Orlando parks. I have mobility issues that prevents me from walking long distances. Rented the transportable go go 4 wheel. First day to the test at magic kingdom, went completely dead after 4.5 hours. Was mostly waiting for rides not riding the scooter. I was completely stranded in the park. Called emergency hotline and was told that a technician would call me the next day. Had to push dead scooter out of park! Next day had scooter replaced, technician said I did not charge it enough. I told him I charged it overnight and for 4 hours when it died and it held no charge. He told me the battery got too low.
Next day with replaced scooter: died at Legoland in the middle of the park. This time after 2 hours. Called their hotline again. Michelle’s solution was to reset batter which did not work. She told me they would compensate me for my troubles any day the scooter did not work. Had to rent a park scooter and leave mine charging.
Decided on third park to not use my scooter rental as I could not trust the reliability. Called scooter around, told them I would leave it in the lobby for pickup. They returned my call and I spoke with Laura. Laura told me the first scooter has water In the battery after further review. I told her I did not ride it in the rain and kept it charging in the hotel room when not in use. Her response was accusatory and she said well it was a new scooter and now the battery has water. I told her not to call me a liar and to keep in mind I was the one who was stranded twice. She said she was not accusing me just pointing out but the battery got water in it while I had it
I am disputing the charge with my credit card company. I sure they will claim the same about the second scooter. All that was proven in my opinion is they gave a mobility challenged customer a faulty scooter and then blamed them for it!
Terrible stance by a very large company. Beware if you happen to be unlucky this Company will not be there for you! They will stand behind their contractors 100%

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! One star is one star too many. Rented from them multiple times but this latest time they ripped me off. First of all, they do not own the scooters that the rent out. They rent from other companies, so of course they will upcharge to make a profit. I’ve rented the same scooter with them and requested the same again. They charge you upfront, which I knew. Always trying to sell you equipment insurance (in case damaged) and cancellation insurance. After they charged my credit card, was notified they could not provide the scooter I requested but could provide another one and was that ok. Didn’t meet my requirements and found out it was a model that was not manufactured anymore, for almost 10 years, so you know it was an old beat up one. Told them no, so then they could «find» another one I’d like for another $ 50 on top of what I already paid. Told them no. Then they found one heaver and with more wheels than I could handle. Asked them to just cancel and refund my money. Told there would be a $ 50 cancellation fee since I didn’t buy cancellation insurance. Disputed that and they still charged $ 10 cancellation fee. That’s the way they treat «loyal» customers so guess how they will treat newbies. Found another company much closer location that rents brand new scooters (that they own) for much less cost. This company needs to be investigated by the better business bureau.

Avoid this vendor! Heartless incompetent and overpriced Canadian company who rents and provides broken used and unreliable scooters throughout the country. I travel for business and depend on scooters to get me to my meetings– on 3 occasions they provided me with old damaged scooters that not only did not work but got me stuck in the middle of the street. Their emergency number told me to get out of my scooter and push it to my hotel. They did not have any vendors who would be nearby to exchange or assist me. He also told me that I cannot leave the scooter on the street as I am responsible for it. On one occasion the scooter stopped functioning while I was crossing the street in New York in Times Square! It took 3 people to get me across despite the traffic and the horrible embarrassment. I am the CEO of 3 successful companies and live my life with a lot of pride. It is so hard to see it shattered through the actions of this company and yes I do have the means and intention to pursue my case against this company for my sake and all those vulnerable for the same reasons

I would give negative stars if I could. Find a locally owned place to deal with if you can. It turns out that Scootaround does not own the scooters they rent out (at least not in New Orleans where we rented). They contract with a local place who supplies the scooter. Our scooter had issues and left us stranded on both of the days we used it. We called to report the problem and got instructions on rebooting the scooter after day 1. Didn’t help. After day 2 we called and asked them to come and pick it up and refund. It turns out we were calling the local company (because all the phone numbers on paperwork and on the scooter were the local company and it was never made clear to us that there was a difference). The local company came and picked it up and agreed it had problems. They told us to call Scootaround to get the refund (this was the first time we realized there was a difference between provider and Scootaround). Scootaround refused to issue refund because we did’t call them to report a problem. Bait and switch. In addition to be confusing and not honoring their end of the contract (to provide functioning scooter for rental period), the people in customer service were RUDE. Do not rent from them.

I just rented a scooter for 2 weeks for my stay in Orlando’s Disney All Star Hotel with Scootaround. It was so easy and convenient and made my trip one to remember with the family. I called to set up the reservation because I seen the delivery truck by me when we were driving to the hotel. The rep on the phone was very polite and courteous and to my surprise, I was able to get the scooter that very same day within a couple hours! I was also made aware that Scootaround is nationwide and set up another rental for Las Vegas next month! I really appreciate their service and think this is a great business! I will continue to use them for all my mobility needs in the future from here on! Thank You so much Scootaround!

I would give them negative stars if I could. Rented scooter for a week. Had to be replaced twice. Lost substantial parts of 2 days at Disney waiting for scooter replacement. Refused to give any adjustment on bill. Telephone people not helpful or courteous. RUN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. (I had to copy this post because I wish I would have read this before I rented from these people… the rudest and unhelpful people on this planet… I am working on day 3 of ruining my vacation thanks to this company) the operator was so rude and would not give me her name and then proceeded to hang up on me. NEGATIVE 5 STARS

If I could leave zero stars I would. We rented a scooter for my mother in law to use at and around Disney while here in Orlando in vacation. Gave us a drop off time of 9−11am on our first day at the resort. 11am came and went — no scooter. We called the company and was told that the driver was stuck in traffic. Hour later — no scooter. Called again and they told us he would be there in 5 minutes. «heather» was annoyed with our call and hung up on us. Delivered an hour later. Scooter was visibly worn out but ran ok in the lobby. Loaded it in the suburban and headed to Disney 2 hours late. 1 hour after we got to the park the scooter began to make beeping noises and cut out. Phone support was NO help. Barely made it back to the car. Called for them to come back and pick up the piece of junk. Told us we weren’t getting a refund. We will let the credit card company battle it out with these rip off artists. Avoid at all costs. Re-​rented from apple scooter — much nicer unit, delivered on time, nice people, same price.
