We have had really bad experiences with this pharmacy. It is really difficult to get them on the phone. On at least two occasions, when I was put on hold the wait time was over ten minutes. In fact, I had to hang up and call back after that time because I was tired of waiting. I was told specifically to ask for Kathy and left a message for her on the answering service and with staff and never received a call back about a compound medication my daughter needed. For that instance, we just decided to go with another pharmacy. On two separate occasions, we got the run around with a VERY important prescription. My daughter had a bone marrow transplant and had to take a very specific medication that apparently only hospital pharmacies can carry or order(Voriconazole). No local pharmacies have it, and I live an hour away from APH and need to get this medication while we’re there for clinic. On one of these occasions I called and asked to have it refilled and told them I’d be there the next day. They told me no problem just call in the morning to make sure they knew I was coming. The next day when I called, they told me the medication had to be ordered and wouldn’t be in until the next day. They would have had plenty of time to order it if they had checked to see that it needed to be ordered when I called the day before our clinic appointment. On the second occasion, the exact same thing happened again. I called the day before, told them we’d be there the next day, and to please have it ready. They again told me to call on the way. I forgot to call so I showed up at the pharmacy after the appointment expecting to have to wait a few minutes before it was ready, and was told for a second time that they had to order it. This is very frustrating and upsetting for a parent going through what we are dealing with, much less any parent. As soon as my daughter is not required to take Voriconazole any longer, I do not plan to ever use this pharmacy again.

When they opened it started out slow, somewhat disorganized. Convenient for staff members, but that’s about it. Watched the employee in front of me and after me both be told they would need additional days to help. Ours was not ready on time and it took the staff 5 minutes to even acknowledge my presence. Come on guys. However — - Since initial write up things have gotten smoother there, when my partner was about to be discharged from Winnie Palmer after giving birth to our daughter, I was able to walk over there and have the script ready to go before the actual discharge took place. As well as good communication w/other department’s staff. Several times I’ve been able to fax scripts over and get scripts delivered at the bedside to my patients in Arnold Palmer Emergency Dept and have the patient even receive the script before I discharged them.
