This was recommended by a foodie at the jobsite and she said if I wanted a cheap fish fry and chips to check this place out. So after not getting any fish from Washington Shores on Columbia — Because they only accepted cash only I decided I will be on a mission. The area isn’t in the most decent neighborhood. Its kind of confusing because there are 2 stores somewhat atteched from side to side. So parking is in the back of the store. A man cleaning the smoker grill was outside and I asked him where can I go from the two to get a quick take out. He said either one but go the one on my right. There is outdoor seating and as I walk in about 5 customers are waiting for their food. FYI — They are carribbean based. IE: Jerk chicken, curry chicken, rice and peas, etc… So I was kind of leery about my fish fry… lol. Prices for a dinner sized fish fry for a whiting fish came about less than $ 10 with tax. They accept debit cards. Fish Fry dinner came with tons of crinkled fries, 3 slabs of fish fillets, 2 hush puppies and side of cole slaw. My palate review: The entire food was okay. The fish was overcooked that inside wasnt moist, batter was somewhat thick with the cornmeal, coleslaw was watery and mostly cabbage no carrots and milky. The hush puppies were somewhat hard and felt like it was made out of cornmeal batter and no signs of other ingredients. Fries were of course frozen type fries. The fish had a fishy taste on my last fillet — which to me tells me the fish wasnt as fresh. They serve Oxtails which is also my fave — For $ 8.50/$ 10.00. I guess prices are based on portions. I might give them another shot on the oxtails alone. They also serve desserts = Homemade. Red Velvet Slices, Peach Cobbler, Banana Bread. From the standpoint the Peach Cobbler is a HIT. I wouldnt go back for the Fish fry for the simple fact just the basics were not to my palate’s standards. Also the condiments packets of tartar sauce was pretty«generic» along with the ketchup packets. I will have cash on me next time and give Washington Shores another shot on Columbia because they were busier and cheaper than this place. Overall Customer service with Seawind is pretty good.
