The Handyman Company

I hired them to finish the work that a previous handyman just took money for and left. They finished the job quickly and did very good work. The office staff was great as well and they provided receipts for any money for materials. The handyman that worked on my house was named Ira and he did a great job and very quickly. I would recommend this service if you cant do something yourself and you need profession help.

We wanted to re do the wall tile in 2 bathrooms and got severals quotes. This company was the most expensive but the only available when we wanted to start the project and they also offered 1 year warranty and now I understand why:
All their craftsmen are sub contractors and management do not keep a close look into their new hires so if you get stuck with a new craftsman that doesn’t know what they are doing like me, is not going to be fun at all.
This first guy came, gave a quote and promised to do the first small standard bathroom in 2 days!!!
6 days later and he did a horrible job: tiles were not leveled, he put grout around the faucet, he didn’t have all the tools and I didn’t have anyone from the office call during any of the 6 days to ask how everything was. Then on day 5, before he left he says his boss called and told him he needed to go to another job the next day. How about us? He is not going to finish and grout the bathroom?!?
The last day we called the office when he didn’t show up and we told them, we are not doing bath #2 and we are only paying for the small one, a prorated amount.
He showed up the last day at 11:30AM and that was usually the case. He was always late, leave for lunch for a long time, very unprofessional.
He bought tiles and bullnoses but he put the cement block on top of the dry wall, so it was double and we had to buy another type of angled tile to cover all around the end of the wall. He didn’t have a trowel and we went to Home Depot at least 6 times to buy supplies for this guy.
Day 6, all we wanted was this guy to leave.
WE called the office and complained because besides doing a terrible job he broke a floor tile and dropped something on the bathtub and did a huge dent so I was very upset.
Then the office sent Paul Owens, the field supervisor, to come take a look and he was speechless. He said that was not a representation of the company, he took plenty of pictures and the office called me back saying they will come back and re do it.
Then they sent Adam the following week that we were available and he changed the tub and did an amazing job.
So I am only giving this company 3 stars because of their HORRIBLE management.
If the office had called me the first day to ask how his new guy was doing, I would tell them but I thought I hired a professional and I didn’t know he was only doing drywall for the company and my bathroom was his first tile work. One more reason to be closely supervised.
Conclusion: the horrible craftsman was fired and I got the bathroom I wanted but I had to endure this whole ordeal and I still have a broken floor tile because the office told my husband that they work with 10 different tile suppliers and Adam went only to Home Depot and couldn’t find a matching tile.
So if you want to gamble with this company and wait to see which craftsmen they will send you, good luck. If you can wait for Adam, then go ahead.
I really wish they sent me Adam the first place, and I could have done both bathrooms in 6 days. Now I am reconsidering if I want to do the master bathroom. There’s nothing wrong with it, we just wanted to upgrade the tiles and having a toddler and a dog during this whole messy and LONG process was not easy.
So this company is getting 2 stars off for the poor management. I am so glad we had the warranty otherwise I would be screwed!
Paul Owens and Adam were great! I just wish I didn’t have to go through this whole ordeal 9days to re do a bath tub wall.
