Come for the food trucks, stay for the tech talks. As long as the weather cooperates, T&T is a great little social event. It can be hard to find, and harder to park, so get there early and make sure you have some cash for the parking garage(street parking is there but rare). The trucks vary and are subject to change last minute, but there’s usually a good variety. If YumYum is there, go immediately and get dessert first — they sell out quick and when they’re gone, they’re gone. There’s a nice chunk of picnic tables to eat at and a few tall bistro tables for standing and eating. There’s also the presentation area with single seats for about 50 – 100 in front of the stage. The presentations are varied so there’s always something new every time. One thing that’s continued to appear is the beer boot — plastic, but still cool. Aside from the food trucks, there are several vendors around the perimeter, mostly tech companies looking to hire, network, or show off stuff. Unilocal was there last time, as well as a face painter to help people get zombie-fied for the theme«Truckpocalypse» — yes, every T&T has a theme, this time was zombies. I look forward to these, they’re great alternatives to boring coffee house networking events.

Great job @izea and @tedmurphy! What a great event to get the tech community out from behind their computer screens and into some fresh air. There were tons of food trucks on hand to serve a wide variety of mostly German-themed foods. A tad on the pricey side, but the beer was a plenty and even had the option for a souvenir boot to drink from. It would’ve been a five-star event the but the schedule of events was way off, maybe by as much as an hour or more. Something I am sure they will work on for the next event.

Tasty food. Nice outdoor event. Beer was good, but could have been a better beer selection.

Warning Biased Unilocaler right here. Trucks & Tech is the bi-yearly event hosted by IZEA(my company). I also planned the first one. The local this time was so much more inviting. Love the new space the city has made around Lake Eola. Great for foot traffic. There were a number of food trucks — I think I was one of the only smart ones to get to the Yum Yum truck early. They sold out so quickly. Aside from food, there was some great discussions on Technology trends including a Google Glass demonstration. Also, there was a guy who had a microchip implanted in his person. Nope, not for me(…yet anyway).

This was a cute little event we actually found by accident while riding our bikes to Lake Eola. There wasn’t much signage so we had no idea what was going on until we stopped by the Unilocal table with the nice rep there to explain what was going on and give us some cute shades. We had to check into the even for varous Unilocal items, which actually restarted by whole addiction to Unilocal again. The rest of the event was interesting, cute lights hanging above us as various folks in the 20 – 30 demographic greeted each other or sipped on drinks. There were scattered food trucks as well. In the back they were having the Izea tech talks which didn’t seem as interesting as the other side of the park.

I was very excited when I learned about this event. Orlando’s tech community is one of our hidden gems. Everyone is so invested in the joined success of Orlando’s tech community, it’s very inspirational! And when these creative minds come together amazing things happen. Including this Trucks & Tech event! Good food(a la Orlando’s favorite food trucks), great conversation and fun events to meet new friends. I truly hope this becomes a regular event for our tech community!

The weather was great; the food was fantastic, the smell of the Sea Dog Blueberry Beer still haunts me. What a wonderful event Izea dropped into a barren old downtown parking lot. They filled it with games, booths, speakers, food trucks, beer and fun. All ages, all types, all having fun and enjoying each other’s company. I had chicken and waffles from Melissa’s Chicken and waffles, a couple of beers from Sea Dog, a salted caramel cupcake from All Things Sweet(awesome concept), but my friend and husband also patronized the Pastrami Project(their corned beef was incredible looking) and Soup to Nuts(for the blueberry melt). I hope they plan to organize more downtown events. I didn’t get to enjoy the speakers, but I sure loved the event.

The organizers did a good job of blending what seemed like disparate topics! I liked that the event attracted a wide variety of folks, which is what downtown living is all about. The food was great and so happy to have discovered All Things Sweet! Spectacular Chocolate cupcake and run by the Orlando Rescue Mission. Brilliant!
