Typical city Walgreens with apathetic and switch-flipping employees. My biggest issue with this and every other Walgreens is they lie every time it comes to carding us. They are paid for the information that they sell from scanning driver’s licenses and purchase trends, and we refuse to accept the sale and solicitation of our personal interests or information. The system asks for EITHER sliding the license or manually inputting the D.O.B. It is NOT left to the discretion of the employee at the register, it is an EITHEROR situation to satisfy the requirements of proof of age. There is NO law that requires the swiping of a driver’s license at a third-party corporation or business in order to verify age, and anyone that tells you so is LYING. It can, however, be ‘store policy’ to prefer swiping, but again, is not the sole means, or required action to sell age-restricted goods. It has been as bad as having the wallet forcibly taken from our hands, but every time they try to lie when we can clearly see the screen. Tonight a manager tried to lie to us, and eventually backed down, but we shouldn’t have to get into a fight every damn time we go to a Walgreens.
