Winn Dixie

This is my neighborhood Winn Dixie on South Goldenrod and Curry Ford Rd. I actually grew up in a small town that only had a Winn Dixie similar to this location so I know this place well. Although I have also migrated to Publix, Aldi and Walmaart… I still go back to Winn Dixie. Their layout is familiar and their BOGOs are awesome. I can always use the fuel perks also. This particular Winn Dixie is older and last year they cut their hours so that is why I took 1 star off. They need to stay open at least until 11pm. That would be awesome. Other than that, great store, great service.

Sock-​it-​to-​me cake. That’s all we come here for. My wife is a cake aficionado, and Winn Dixie’s sock-​it-​to-​me cake is her favorite in all of Orlando. Whenever she’s craving cake, I know we’re only a few minutes away from a trip to Winn Dixie.
Cake aside, Winn Dixie can be overpriced compared to other stores, but you can find some really good deals here. We just don’t use it as a primary shopping place.

I go out of my way to avoid this Winn Dixie. They often have expired items on shelves. You get harassed by the homeless on the way inside. We drive a little further to the one on Conway.

I went to this Winn Dixie last night with a friend. (She lives in the area.) It was my 2^nd time going to this Winn Dixie, but the first time that actually made me feel compelled to return.
As we got out of the car & headed toward the store, Barry (I asked his name) greeted us with a smile & asked how we were doing, as he pushed a stack of carts along.
After we’d gotten what we went there to get — ice cream — Emily, the cashier, took care of us. As we approached the register & our ice cream moved up the conveyor belt toward her, she said, in a friendly tone, «wow, everyone is getting ice cream tonight. Makes me want to go get some.» We all laughed. Then, as we were given our total, my friend tried to pay with her card & swiped it. I fought with her so she couldn’t punch in her numbers to complete the transaction, and Emily offered, «hit the red ‘X’ and it will cancel.» So I managed to do so & payed. That made a world of a difference. Emily smiled the whole way through & told us to have a great night.
On the way out, Barry was collecting carts (still busy at work) but still managed to thank us for coming & told us to have a great night, also, smiling still.
I don’t usually receive such memorable customer service at a grocery store, but this experience was truly unforgettable. Both employees deserve some kind of promotion, or reevaluation assessment, or recognition of some sorts. I will definitely be back to this Winn Dixie whenever I am in the area & need to stop for something. Thanks Barry & Emily!

Winn Dixie the beef people. What can I say. These days the competition between the grocery chains is vicious. Winn Dixie still has excellent beef and when they offer those three day specials. get out of my way.
One thing I have noticed… they are a lot cleaner then they used to be. The people working there are a lot friendlier also. Kudos to the WD culture.
