I was treated very rudely in the Orleans store today. I went to return something, and told them an HONEST story about what I was returning. I had bought an item in the store the week before, and was using it, but the next day, the same item came in the mail, because my husband had ordered it online. SAMEEXACTITEM. So, I was truthful that the one I was returning was not the actual one I bought, it did not have their store sticker on it, and I figured they would know that anyway, so I didn’t want to lie about it. The girl behind the counter told me, «No, since that isn’t the one you bought here, I can’t take it back.» Fine… I didn’t argue… it was just silly, because I could go home and get the OPEN one, with the DVD already watched and the package torn open, that I bought there and bring THAT back, and I suppose THAT would be ok??? It is just stupid that they wouldn’t want one that they could just put right back on the shelf… but…I just said, «Ok, well thanks anyway», and went down an isle to look at dog food. I then overheard the man employee who was behind the counter, talking about me(he obviously thought I had left the store). He was making fun of me because I told the HONEST story, when I could have just lied and they would have taken it back. He and the girl that refused me, had a nice laugh about me… until I came out from the aisle! I told them that I was HONEST about what I was returning, and that I was glad to hear that I had given them such a chuckle and left the store. I will NOT be going to that store again. We got a new puppy in January, and I had been in that store at LEAST once a week since then, and spent a lot of money. No more, and I will be calling the manager tomorrow, and also writing Corp. headquarters about this totally inconsiderate and rude treatment of good customer. They should be made aware of the attitude of their employees. I never do anything like this, but this was very upsetting and hurtful for me today.

I like this place. its local, lots of pet supplies that may be a tad over priced, but you know how it goes on cape cod, especially in the summer. It has pumps for your little garden pools, and lots of things like plant supplies. its just your lovely, local, pleasant place to find your needs. they sometimes have sales and they have those little discount cards, you know? the store has wonderful staff members all connected by walkie talkies so they are fast with getting what you want… one star off for how small it is…

An Agway is an Agway is an Agway, right? Right — an most Agways happen to be A-Ok. This one, however, ii a little above A-Ok because it’s super-convenient to Orleans center, has a large parking lot and carries everything from pet food to potted plants to trees. Oh, and the service is outstanding. The reason I won’t go all-out with 5 stars is because the front of the store is a little cluttered, and it doesn’t have to be. Also, their prices are a little high, but are comparable to other local nurseries — I guess it’s understandable since this is the Cape, afterall. While I do prefer to do my greens shopping at a locally-owned nursery, the convenience of this place in addition to the fact that they carry items like cat litter and whatnot is hugely positive.

Yep, Agway Orleans for PREMIUMDOGFOOD… a huge selection of fresh-dated pet food products at very competitive pricing… Sad to say, the last few years I had slipped into feeding my dogs supermarket chow to save a few $$$ and get the gas rewards… until Purina One almost killed my older dog. She tried to tell me the food was making her sick, every way she could, and I stupidly assumed she was sick with something else, and that’s why she didn’t want to eat… I was wrong and the dog was right. It was the food. They had changed the recipe. So I re-entered the tangled world of premium dog foods. I recommend and if you want to learn who’s making your pet food, where, with what ingredients, and where those ingredients are sourced from(remember Chinese melamine?). The pet food industry is not a pretty place when you shine a light on it. Still, your head will be swimming trying to sort out the completing claims… but a fancy pet health consultant I met online, steered me to the moderately priced Wellness brand… and Agway of Orleans carries it for the exact same price as Amazon Prime. The bags seem to have very fresh dating at Agway, too. I complimented the clerk on the price and he just said, «well, we move a lot of dog food here.» (My other current dog food obsession is Honest Kitchen dehydrated raw food… it’s human grade food that you really could eat yourself… my old dog LOVES it… but Agway doesn’t carry it, so they only get 3 stars).
