Traveling the country in a car that everyone seems nervous to work on. 98 Subaru (with a so called Porsche engine.)
For my ghastly front-​end oil leak which was hitting the exhaust and smoking I checked with 4 different shops in the area for a price. All estimates were within $ 100. One shop tried to convince me that my leak was a $ 900 rack and pinion system when I knew it was a timing belt. Other shops told me it would take 10 – 14 days for parts.
MPG correctly diagnosed my timing belt and all the related seals would fix my leak. They stuck to their quoted price and got the repairs done the next day.
$ 1,115 seems high for a timing belt on a Subaru but nobody in Oro Valley had a better price.
A clean shop with nice people working it.

I recently purchased a used vehicle. I brought it here for a complete automotive diagnostic and inspection so that I would know what needs to be fixed other than the obvious. I left the vehicle there for about three hours. The inspection report came back with the obvious issues that I knew we needed to address such as an oil leak and a belt change. The cost was $ 89 for the inspection. I asked the technician if there was anything else I need to be concerned about and he stated no. The car has been well-​maintained and is in excellent shape. The service team was courteous and professional. I returned home with the vehicle and immediately found at least a dozen additional issues that need to be corrected that were never addressed on the inspection report. I feel like I just blew 89 bucks for someone to visually inspect the vehicle and tell me what I already knew.
