Pros: Place of great historic value. Handcrafted artistry is difficult to match. The comparisons on eastern and western attire during the late 1800s and early 1900s is fascinating. Staff is friendly, but only if not inundated with tasks. Cons: Open only from 12PM to 4PM. Displays lack information.

We were passing through and stopped by, arriving at 3:30pm(they close at 4pm). 30 min was sufficient for us to do a walk through. The temple is not active anymore so this is more like a «museum». I’ve found Locke a little more interesting, but if you’re in the area, you could stop by. I like the tapestry room but why did they use caucasian mannequins?

If you are in this area it it well worth seeing. $ 3 admission. Great tapestries, ancient art work, and history of the people. Spent about 1 ½ hours. I would go again next time we are here.

What a wonderful collection of Chinese artifacts! Lovely gem of a museum open to the public. $ 3 admission so much to see! From the exterior you wouldn’t know there are many rooms to see inside and a beautiful courtyard. I came here for a day trip. Love to bring my family and friends with me next time. A must see in Oroville, a wonderful place to connect with local history. The docent was friendly and informative.
