What a diamond in the rough! Went on a whim while at the casino one day, and have kept going back for special occasions! Love the view, particularly at sunset. They sure know what they’re doing here. Love the sorbet(?) before your dinner arrives to cleanse the palate Service has been excellent. Now, we make reservations(just to be sure & get our favorite server!). I’ve never had a dining experience where just off out reservation, the waiter already knows what we want to drink and has the coffee brewing as we sit down! Going above and beyond EVERY time, I recommend asking for Victor’s section!!! Victor has been my server for the past few years now. He blew us away the first time, he’s very attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. And, now my mouth is watering! Time for that reservation!

Terrible service rude hostess. I will not be back!!! Told us it would be. 30 min wait turned into an hour and a half and very little people in there. Food was fine price high for the quality of the service. They need a hostess that smiles and makes you feel welcome not wasting her time.

Came in tonight to celebrate my Birthday dinner at one of my Favorite restaurants!!! I’ve been coming to The Steak House since Fall 2013, and this is the second time I celebrated my Birthday dinner here. I love the ambiance, delicious food, wonderful staff, and atmosphere of dining there. The menu has a nice variety of choices and Chef Mike is amazing… Our server was Kha, he always does a great job, attentive, very polite, friendly personality! I was very Happy with my Birthday dinner experience :) We started off with the Crispy Calamari appetizer. It was my first time trying it here, it came with two sauces, a sweet and sour sauce, and a Shoyu beurre blanc sauce. The Shoyu sauce was DELICIOUS flavor!!! I would definitely order this again in future! I had the Caesar salad, which you can choose soup or salad with your dinner. Since I was kind of splurging, I ordered the Double Rib Colorado Lamb chops. They are Spice rubbed Lamb chops drizzled in a Rosemary bordelaise, served with herbed root vegetable mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. The Lamb chops were cooked perfectly medium Rare and tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the herbed root mashed potatoes too because they were different and very flavorful. The Rosemary bordelaise sauce was delicious and complimented the whole dinner plate very well. Tonight was one of the BEST dinners I have ever had at The Steak House. I was very pleased with everything, service was excellent, food was excellent, it was such a wonderful memorable celebration for me. I am very Thankful for all my visits here and that is why I keep going back countless times…

First class restaurant. Took some Bay Area friends there for dinner. Love the ambience, the salad, the steaks and the drinks! The atmosphere is similar to what you find in Las Vegas Highly recommended!

The place is very nice and the view was pretty good too. The food is a little over priced for what it is but the complimentary bread basket is pretty impressive. All of our meals were very good and the wine selection was also pretty good and reasonable. The bartenders did not know how to make a sidecar or Manhattan, which was strange for that nice of a place but they did their best. Both drinks were ok. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and my horseradish cream sauce was on point. The bananas foster was a nice ending to our friend’s anniversary. Overall it was a great experience but a little pricey for what it was. I will go back but inform my wallet to hold on for the ride!

While I do love their food this review is not based on that. We came here for my birthday in March(yah I know this review is on the late side) my husband surprised me with a late dinner here because he knows I love their bananas foster. We had a reservation for 8pm and arrived on time. There was a sign saying that last seating is 8:30. The host said we didn’t have a reservation and told us that she had to speak with the manager to figure out what was going on and if she could seat us because they already had their last settings at 8. Wait the sign up front clearly says 8:30? What gives? Apparently the reservation never made it to them but the seated us anyway per the manager. We were seated at a window seat(my fave) and the waiter brought us our menus and water. We ordered our appetizers and the manager brought it out to us fairly fast. I would have appreciated this had the manager not spoken. But alas she opened her mouth and said«just so you know the kitchen was closed but we opened it just for you. Your food will be coming out quickly» Well thanks for ruining my relaxing evening out. Seriously who says that? We came at our reservation time. It wasn’t last seating according to your sign. And to top it off their were other patrons still enjoying their food! So lady manager thanks for letting me know how we’ve messed up your night. Our bread came out with our entrees instead of before and tho are waiter was nice, I feel we would have had better service if we came earlier. One thing that was actually really sad was that the waiter didn’t ask if we were celebrating anything special, I’ve been here 5 – 6 times before and they always ask and here I am celebrating my birthday and you barely spoke to me. So two stars for this review ONLY because the food is still amazing. But hopefully they clean up their act for late night patrons and give them the same service as anyone else. This place is expensive and if I come here to spend my money I deserve great service.

I’m struggling with this one a little, I don’t really want to give them 3stars, but I also realize that part of my disappointment with the Steakhouse was my own expectations. I have heard good things from a lot of folks, so went there really excited and expecting a very fine meal. Alas, it wasn’t to be. My wife was out of town for Valentine’s Day, so we decided to finally try the Steakhouse on Friday for a belated Valentine celebration. I ordered the aged ribeye and my wife the Chicken Cordon Bleu. The steak was perfect, cooked as ordered and delicious. Everything else was mediocre to bad, baked potato was hard and the«artisan bread» was just weird! We took bites of each kind, but didn’t finish a single piece. The«clam» chowder was without question the worst I’ve had, seriously any canned chowder from Safeway is better. I couldn’t identify any clams, either by sight or taste. It was basically a bowl of warm milk with big chunks of potatoes and some kind of spice, I LOVE clam chowder! but didn’t finish theirs. My wife enjoyed her salad, agreed with me on the bread. Her entrée was a problem. She ordered the Cordon Bleu, expecting Cordon Bleu but instead was served ahat we were told is an «airline» chicken. A large piece of breast with a wing still attached, then breaded and stuffed with cheese and prosciutto to be «cordon Bleu«like», according our waiter, Victor. That might have been okay if they had actually stuffed it, but they didn’t, it was just a baked breast with a wing sticking off. Less than impressive. Victor and the feet of the wait staff were great, very attentive. So, Even though I won’t go back, I’ll stick with 3 based on the service and the very good steak.

STEAKHOUSEREVIEWONLY: My wife and I went to the Gold Country Steak House a few weeks ago. Firstly the steak house is very nicely decorated and has an elegant feel. My wife and I both ordered the DRYAGEDRIBEYE, they were both cooked to order perfectly, but they were the absolutely toughest steaks we have ever eaten. There were two or three good bites that were right next to the rib eye fat strip, but that was it. The steaks were so tough that neither my wife or I could finish more than 2⁄3 because our jaws hurt from chewing. The closer we got to the middle of the steak the tougher it got. We were seriously having trouble cutting it eventually. They assured us it was aged, but I think it was just old. There is a difference that this restaurant is not aware of. If it was aged then it was done poorly by someone that thinks he or she knows what he or she is doing. We were not the only people with this issue. Another customer three tables away was complaining about the same thing. The managers response? «Can we cook it for you longer, Sir?» Really, obviously the management staff knows very little about food, because cooking a tough dry steak longer only makes it dryer and tougher. I also ordered the creamed spinach. According to the menu the creamed spinach is «wilted spinach, cream, butter, garlic.» LIES. My cream spinach was 6 or 7RAW spinach leaves on a long skinny plate lined up in order in a row with some cream pored down the middle. pretentious at best. Some«Chef»(I use that term loosely) was trying to be impressive I suppose but failed miserably. I live 10 or 15 miles fro this casino and my wife and I are going to the STIXX concert at the end of January. W are going to eat anywhere else but that«Steakhouse».

First time here and I was instantly annoyed. I was 15 minutes early and the hostess said she can’t seat up prior to our reservation Came back had to wait a couple of minutes to be sat in a half empty restaurant. But got a booth and the view was nice. Lighted menu amazing idea first time I had ever seen one. Victor was our waiter very personable person. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer as victor assured us it was excellent and was quite possible the best we ever had. Awesome salad with blackberry vinaigrette. I had the dry aged rib eye I ordered it medium it was more medium rare but I still ate the whole thing without sending it back flavor was awesome. My wife had the seabass and it was also exceptional. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the food of this restaurant. I will return.

Ryan made our dining experience awesome! He was very attentive. From the appetizers to the chilled forks for the salad and warm spoons for the soup to the intermezzo to cleanse the palate and finally the bananas foster for dessert, this was the most amazing dining experience ever! The view was beautiful at sunset. Do not miss this dining experience when you visit Gold Country Casino. And don’t forget to ask for Ryan, he’s the best!

The Steakhouse has the most delicious prime rib you will ever have in your life. I repeat, The Steakhouse has the most DELICIOUS prime rib you will ever have in your life. In addition to that very important fact, the staff at the restaurant are very well trained and always a pleasure to have as servers. The Steakhouse is a classy, excellent restaurant that is perfect for date nights or special events. My husband and I make the drive from Chico to Oroville simply to visit The Steakhouse to eat(and, for me, that can’t be said for just anything in that town). There is a reason this place was voted«Best Of» for a variety of local magazine articles, and if you’re on the fence about going, I highly recommend you go. Many locals like to compare The Steakhouse to 5th Street Steakhouse in Chico, and I have to say, having been to both multiple times, I’d take the former any day. The 5th Street staff are often«too busy» to make proper introductions and the venue is very loud. They also don’t carry prime rib because«prime rib isn’t an actual cut of meat.» Which is all well and good if you’re an ag expert or restaurant owner, but when all you want is a tasty prime rib, that place is pretty much a waste of space. More on The Steakhouse’s delicious meat: you can order 20 ounces of prime rib, and pay small amounts for each extra ounce up to any amount you choose. For I-Like-Classy-Places-But-I-Also-Like-To-Leave-Full(or with two… maybe three meals out of the deal, as is usually my case) being able to order a lot of these tasty noms is just about as close to divinity foodies can get. Sure, you may suffer a mild heart attack, but I promise, it’s worth every, dripping-in-house-prepared – au-jus bite. The Steakhouse also offers a nice selection of quality breads to start your meal, healthy, fresh salads(the Caesar comes complete with a netted half lemon and filleted anchovies, if you so desire), and a palate cleanser prior to your life-changing, 20 oz.+ feast. It may not be cheap, but it’s certainly worth every penny(and more) and when you consider the amount of food, and the quality in which it has been prepared, The Steakhouse is simply unbeatable.

Nice setting, good ambiance, lovely view of the sunset. Their dried steaks are to die for. Good wine selection and their bread basket is YUMMY! Do not get the king crab — previously frozen and a nightmare to crack as previously frozen = thin shell and thus doesn’t crack, just bends. They need to cut the legs down the length if they are going to serve pre-frozen.

First off, the service was absolutely outstanding. Ryan is a class act. Took excellent care of us. The bread options they give you are delicious with the assorted butter flavors. Chef Will made us an appetizer that he invented that day and it was like a flavor eruption inside my mouth. We ordered the dry aged New York steaks. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. As for the quality of service and food we received, it was well worth the price we paid. I will definitely be back.

For those of you that are looking for a nice steak house, THIS is a nice steak house. First off, the ambiance is really nice. It gives off a smooth, nice, gentle feel to the restaurant. Since its on the top floor, it should be exposed to a lot of sunlight right? Wrong. They have the blinds down to limit the amount of external light to keep their ambiance, but when the sun goes down, they raise the blinds. If anyone is from Oroville or familiar with Oroville, there isn’t really much light at night, so raising the blinds makes for a beautiful candlelit dinner. Next off is the food. It can be pricey, but if you’re going to a high end steak house, its fair. Their mashed potatoes is to dye for. Best fucking potatoes I’ve ever had. Hands down. You a fan of baked potatoes? NOPE. Fan of Rice Pilaf? NOPE. Get the mashed potatoes. It will be one of the best life choices you will ever make. The steak is very tender, their sea food is delicious. Overall, great food. And what makes a restaurant even better? The service. My group was treated like VIPs there. Our waiter gave us a lot of attention. The manager gave us a lot of attention(Maybe too much). They always greeted us with a smile. And the great thing was, that wasn’t just our server. They served all of their customers very well. Great place to eat. Have a hot date and have no idea where to go? If you’re in the area or from around the area, go there. Want to blow your money on the casino? Blow it on the food first.

They seated us right away. The service was excellent. All of the staff was very attentive! The food and drinks were all good. If you try any of their specialty cocktails, I suggest the very berritini and the elevator ride. Both drinks were delicious! We both had the ribeye steak and have absolutely no complaints. On fact, the ONLY complaint about this place that we have is that«for an additional charge» we got the Lobster Bisque instead of the soup of the evening. It was really gross and the«additional charge» was $ 14… When someone says«for an additional charge» I think like $ 2.50…lol… Other than that, our experience was lovely and we would return here next time we’re in the area for sure!

This was probably my 5th visit to The Steak House. I’m going to have to admit that the food has gotten steadily worse. One of my favorite items to order used to be the Lobster Bisque. I don’t even know what was served to me this time. It tasted nothing like Lobster Bisque. It looked nothing like the Lobster Bisque I remember. It more resembled thick Thousand Island Dressing and the flavor was so off I cant even describe it. Incredibly disappointing is one way. I ordered the Muscovy Duck Cerise. Muscovy duck medallions sautéed with sundried cherries, green onions and wild mushrooms in a tawny port reduction. Served with rice pilaf and fresh roasted vegetables. It didn’t look any different than the Steak Diane my husband ordered. We had to do a taste test to make sure we had the right dishes. However, it was good. The duck was slightly tough to cut but was otherwise satisfying. For dessert we got the The Steakhouse Extravaganza Of Chocolate. Warm chocolate lava cake, miniature chocolate bombs and Callebaut sipping chocolate. The Lava Cake was the best part and there was no Callebaut Sipping Chocolate. There was also some type of little Chocolate Pyramid thing that flavor wise was unrecognizable. Its bad when the entire table is taking tastes and cant tell what it is. I used to brag to people about the food at The Steak House. I think now I’m going to just keep it to myself. One of the only things still going strong is the service. They are always very attentive. Maybe its the economy to blame for the downturn in quality of food. I’m not sure. If I had written this review in 2005 you probaly would have seen 5 stars. Sorry, not anymore.
