Stover Properties

My roommate and I wanted to rent a property of theirs that was perfect for us. We filled out the application and were told that we were the first applications that they received. We had been told that if we were the first ones, we would be given priority. They stated that we would have an answer on the next business day (Monday). We did not hear from them until Tuesday, which we figured was ok since they needed to run credit/​background checks on us, and look over the applications. They called Tuesday after my roommate left them a message and informed us that even though our applications were great and they had no problem with us, that someone else (who looked at the property after my roommate did and obviously submitted an application after us) gave them an offer they decided not to refuse — a full year of rent up front. My roommate and I, like many people, were in no position to do that. We assumed, based on the information given to us by Stover Properties, that we would be given that priority. Our credit/​personal info checked out, therefore, we should have been allowed to rent that house. I have found this business to not have good practices; that they are shady, underhanded, and greedy. Don’t waste your time and energy.
